I would be very, very surprised If we didn't!

Q: Private Beta Site: Materials Modeling

Cody AldazIf this is off-topic, I can take it down, but I think its valuable to support other science sites in the network. Materials Modeling SE entered private beta at the end of April. The site aims to address research level questions about both the theory, methods, and implementation behind modeling s...

Considering that question you used as an example is on topic -- maybe lacking in some details-- but overall seemingly useful, I would recommend anyone who has the knowledge (which you seem to have) to answer it if they want to help the site.

Q: Name and room owners for the main chat room

Martin - マーチンThis community has a chat room: Materials Modeling This is the third place, where people can meet up and discuss. It's the most casual of the three, with sometimes realtime back-and-forth. That's actually encouraged there. It probably come with little to no surprise, that it is part of the Real...

Q: Could we please add the ability to cite people's content?

Nike DattaniBased on my experience with other stack exchanges, I assumed that the content that people take the time to write here, would be easily citable, and in fact when advertising our site to professional colleagues and senior academics, I seem to have made the mistake of mentioning that any content the...

We need to focus on the basics with that: Can the problem in the question be reproduced? Is the information given enough to see it in context? (What is the XY problem?) Is the software (version) specified well enough? Will the question invite a lot of back-and-forth?

Oh certainly, Nike made that clear in A51 from the very start. And I think this is a no brainer, you cannot really do MMM without software, or can you? -.=

In that one post on meta, I asked about a specific question, and other than Nike (pro) and Goeff (contra-ish) not many opinions have been voiced. My take away from this is that such questions are fine here...

I do agree with you in general that materials should be the focus here. However, I don't wish to get questions migrated away from here, some overlap is good. I wouldn't know where to draw the line anyway. As a moderator at chemistry.se, I do not wish to deal with migration (like never). If the community is so inclined, the may leave a comment explaining 'manual migration (i.e. delete & re-ask)'. I always hoped to see more good molecular modeling questions on Chemistry.se -- and I will still encourage them, but I am totally okay with them being asked here instead. — Martin - マーチン 1 hour ago

@Martin-マーチン @Martin-マーチン How can you agree with Andrews on that while simultaneously admitting that computational chemistry doesn't actually have that support on Chem.SE? So I guess screw computational chemistry then?

@GeoffHutchison Sorry I was a bit late to see these chat messages! I agree that some of those questions would be on topic in both sites, but this recent comment by Rory Alsop suggests that it's the asker's choice which site they want to use, and mods can migrate questions if either "the question is not getting enough attention, or the answer really needs to come from a different specialization":
