Please provide examples in democratic countries of software companies where employees "work, go back to sleep, wake up in the same building and keep working", to establish that this is a common practice. Also, your definition of pair programming is some kind of dystopian twisting of the real version. The point of pair programming isn't so that the manager can keep an eye on the employee, it's so that two coders can achieve higher levels of code quality than if they worked alone.
