This is one of the nuttiest questions I've ever read:
A questionable conclusion from questionable assumptions. I have read nuttier things though
@Hohmannfan Really, like what?
The fun thing about being on the site is reading some of the questions and answers
Like this
That answer reminds me of this paper, but this one is actually real: kurims.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~motizuki/…
Dear christ, you can understand all that?
No clue

XD
@Hohmannfan some theories are so ugly they collapse in its own shame

Which is a half-semi-reasonable question
Astronomy SE is spammed with that kind of questions
Yep
The media teaching everyone that black holes = wormholes...
There is so much wrong in the world
Too many crimes, too little time

Also like how 99% of google images for "atom" are the incorrect model, and how most people think dark matter is some evil entity
@SirCumference I actually voted to close as unclear, and I resent that SE lists me as one that thinks there's multiple possible opinions on the matter.
Sigh...
Astronomy might be one of the most misunderstood areas of science, since so few people learn it
Most people think the Big Bang is an explosion
All those theories about black holes being gateways of the multiverse that he's alluding to have fallen flat on their bottom ... hard
Not to mention, conservation of energy doesn't hold at relativistic scales
basically as soon as news started appearing in semi-qualified science news outlets that major breakthrough is soon to be announced
Feb 11, 2016 08:01
But I wouldn't blame him for not knowing it
Yep. Part of the reason I hate sci-fi is that it takes out most of the cool parts that are actually IN the Universe
Like what happens as you travel at relativistic speeds
Instead we get faster-than-light travel...grah...
I remember I used to watch star trek and there were these "photon torpedoes" that would destroy enemy ships

@Hohmannfan Oh god I'm dying XD
2 upvotes...
I just had to create that one after you mentioned what people think they know about dark matter
(fake)
Oh dammit XD

There are probably weirder questions that actually exist, they are just hard to find
I guess @TildalWave has seen most of them
Nah man, this takes the cake:
Especially since I accidentally bountied it one time
Actually did get my rep back
And then there are the demanding homework questions
-8
Q: Replace the force system with a single force

apache Please I need a quick answer I have an exam tomorrow

How did you get your bounty rep back?
I posted it in the physics chat, some staff member must've taken pity on me
And removed the bounty while giving my rep back
Thank dear god

So many things was wrong with that question
I have never seen a -19 before
Yep, bottom of the barrel in the physics SE
Well, along with this
-18
Q: How can magic be explained with Physics?

Margaret RosaAssuming that, hypothetically, and for this example only, "magic" means things like magical powers. In movies, games, etc. we witness magic; however, it's never explained how it works with regards to the likeness world in which they take place in to ours. My wonderng is, how can magic be explai...

Dang, that's sadly true...
That's essentially the main reason why I'm iffy about majoring in astronomy. Becoming known is extremely tough and finding a job is even tougher...
"What are your qualifications?" "I look at stars"
Yep, haha
Not to mention having to get a PhD in some cases, which takes years
Feb 11, 2016 08:24
But your qualifications are still just "I know how to look at a particular type of stars".
Yep
Well a lot of the higher ups are theoretical astronomers, not observational astronomers
Like those who study GR, etc.
"I know a lot about invisible stuff"
Unless you can get a planet declassified and find another potential planet (Looking at Mike Brown...)
But yeah, not many qualifications XD
