Sen is now at the bottom of a 40-foot well with two angry terrapin guards and a locked door.
(This is why I was happy to set the difficulty relatively low to do this.)
I threateningly tell them that they should close their eyes unless they want to end up like their friend there and they should give me the key card that opens this door.
That sounds like social conflict!
indeed!
I believe you compare Careful approaches to determine initiative.
At this point I also put my hand into my wet-bag and bulge my phone out to look like a gun
Oct 3, 2013 12:12
They don't have Careful, but they have Bad At "finesse." I think that counts.
The fine art of threats.
So you go first, and it sounds like you're creating an advantage with your cell phone.
Is it Flashy?
Well I just dropped them down a 40 foot shaft and snuck by them in a coat, I think to them its a pretty big surprise to see me down here.
Oct 3, 2013 12:14
The guards are Skilled At close combat and brute force, so a gun is something they're probably familiar with--they respect it, but it's not unusual to them or anything.
Hm
I'll even the surprise (-2) and the familiarity with threats of physical injury (+2) to a +0 on their roll.
well, my threat is going to sound very convincing when they see the determination in my eyes, I will fight them to the death I will save Lola
Okay. so..... what am I rolling, Careful?
So, Flashily roll to make that threat and I'll defend at +0.
You're brandishing a "gun" and shouting at them, right?
That's Forceful or Flashy in my book.
yes
Well, in my book Flashy looks a lot better. :)
Given it's a fake gun... I'd go with Flashy.
aye....
Oct 3, 2013 12:17
And you get your stunt bonus. Wait, no, that's for Overcome.
I am confused what I am rolling now
Initiative?
Initiative isn't rolled.
You just plain won it.
oh. Okay.
So now?
Create advantage with the fake gun?
Now you're rolling to Flashily Create an Advantage by waving a "gun" around.
Anything worth doing is worth doing with style

I got -1, so you succeed with gobs of style!
Flashy (+3) Dice (+2)
cool. gobs.
What advantage are you placing on them or yourself?
Oct 3, 2013 12:19
So I have 2 free invocations
I place it on myself?
um...
I have a 'gun' ?
How about I mean business.
you "can" place it on yourself
@BESW that is much better.
Man, I need to get better at creating these.
it's ok, no ones perfect at it
Yours are not bad.
I spent a month picking the brain of a guy who's not on chat anymore, trying to learn how to do this, and I didn't learn a thing until I started having to actually do it in game.
Oct 3, 2013 12:22
:)
Okay, So. Now... I mean business :)
So, you have two free invokes on I mean business, and it's the terrapins' turn(s).
"give me the keycards!"
Was what I said to them.
The one that isn't Sam radios for help.
damnit.
He's terrified of you and your gun, and doesn't think they can handle this alone.
Oct 3, 2013 12:24
but now I am going to shoot him... :P
Now, he's creating an advantage Reinforcements on the way. You are close enough that you can oppose this.
wait...
Didn't they just land on their backs?
presumably after whirling around a lot
and falling
and probably losing their radios
So he would have to reach for it. its not just in his hand.. and he is probably not on his feet
So I could try to kick it out of the way/ step on his hand to stop him
while threatening that I don't need them alive.
Right. You're close enough to oppose his attempt to create the advantage.
He's rolling at +2 to radio for help, and you'll roll to defend with whatever you narrate your opposition to make sense.
Well... what is the situation?
He's on his back, his radio's in his breast pocket. All he needs to do is reach up, push the button, and shout.
Oct 3, 2013 12:27
I step on his hand.
Forcefully?
quickly!
Okay!
Roll Quickly vs his +2 "radioing for help" check.
4d
...+0

You succeed with style, and get a boost.
Perhaps you'd like to describe the pain his fingers are now enduring.
Or maybe he just won't try that again.
@BESW how does that idea work?
You've got a boost. Place it on him and make the aspect won't try radioing for help.
Oct 3, 2013 12:29
Would do what I say and you won't get hurt make sense?
....yes. That's probably better.
That's a boost on yourself.
now its sams turn ?
Yup.
Sam.... is smart enough not to reach for his own keycard.
You look like your trigger finger is itchy.
He tells you that Donny's keycard should be in his coat pocket, and jerks his head toward the unconscious guard.
afk
Back.
Sam is using the Fate Core "full defense" option. He isn't doing anything mechanical on his turn, and will have +2 on all defensive actions until the start of his next turn.
@InbarRose It is Sen's turn, I think.
okay.
I tell Sam, "You are the one who guarded this door, you should have the key, open the door, get the key from donny if you must, and do it slowly and with only 1 hand and 2 fingers." (convince him to do this for me)
I think that's an attack.
Oct 3, 2013 12:43
okay.
You need to deal 2 shifts of stress to take him out.
this. I would say is forceful
...yes.
unfortunately.
You've got a lot of Fate points and free invokes, though.
Oct 3, 2013 12:44
yep
4d
What is his roll ?
At +2, he gets...
4d
+0.
I'm going to have him invoke your I am not a thief trouble for another +2.
You'll get the point from it at the end of this scene.
Oct 3, 2013 12:47
okay, So I invoke the I mean business
He's got +2 vs your... +3?
You need one more shift to take him out.
pause.
can we discuss this: I hate to kick a man when he's down
Okay.
Oct 3, 2013 12:49
If I invoke it for a bonus... what exactly does that mean
It means that it is somehow important to you in this situation, in a way which is beneficial--it steels your resolve, perhaps.
it seems more like something that would be invoked against you
if anything
possibly.
But it should be neutral towards good. on the good/bad for me scale.
anyway
This is important to my, I will save Lola my resolve is certain. This guy WILL do what I want.
Oct 3, 2013 13:04
@InbarRose just to be clear, this is the aspect I meant
@trogdor I understood.
@BESW .. .?
M'rr. Work looms.
Sam gives Sen the keycard and goes to tend to Donny's head.
Sen enters the airlock to the lab, and we'll pick up there next time.
okay... but not exactly.... there are a few things that need resolving. next time.
