I threateningly tell them that they should close their eyes unless they want to end up like their friend there and they should give me the key card that opens this door.
The guards are Skilled At close combat and brute force, so a gun is something they're probably familiar with--they respect it, but it's not unusual to them or anything.
Hm
I'll even the surprise (-2) and the familiarity with threats of physical injury (+2) to a +0 on their roll.
I spent a month picking the brain of a guy who's not on chat anymore, trying to learn how to do this, and I didn't learn a thing until I started having to actually do it in game.
Sam.... is smart enough not to reach for his own keycard.
You look like your trigger finger is itchy.
He tells you that Donny's keycard should be in his coat pocket, and jerks his head toward the unconscious guard.
afk
Back.
Sam is using the Fate Core "full defense" option. He isn't doing anything mechanical on his turn, and will have +2 on all defensive actions until the start of his next turn.
I tell Sam, "You are the one who guarded this door, you should have the key, open the door, get the key from donny if you must, and do it slowly and with only 1 hand and 2 fingers." (convince him to do this for me)
