I'm telling you, there is some serious lyxal luck going on here
my first nether portal being extremely close to the nether fortress
getting mending for 14 emeralds from the very first librarian villager I got
and now, the goofiest thing possible
so you know how last night I got onto the nether roof?
well I also last night got up there in a different spot
I was looking up how to make a gold farm
and it requires being above the nether roof above a nether wastes biome
only problem is that my base portal is in a soul sand valley (cringe)
so I ventured out a few hundred blocks to a largeish nether waste biome (behind the fortress kinda) and went above the roof there
that screenshot is from yesterday. It's the first nether roof portal I built
anyhow, going through takes you to a pillager outpost
you can see it in the background
that's pretty cool by itself, but it gets goofier
tonight, I decided to locate the stronghold to actually get to the end
(I haven't done that part yet)
and for triangulation, I decided to throw one eye at home base, and one near the pillager outpost
and the calculator I used said the stronghold was a hundred blocks away from the outpost
my goofy ahh somehow managed to completely fluke building a portal right next to the stronghold
the big pole in the background is directly above the portal room

anyhow, an hour of looking later, and this is the result
I found basically the right place by complete accident
