@Sue Here's a way you can make pictures any size you want: [<img src="" height="200" />](). Paste it in the line you want the text, and copy your image url. Paste the image url between the "" (as the image source). Paste it again between the parenthesis at the end. Where it says height="200", that is where you control the image height. Make that number higher or lower for a larger or smaller picture.
will probably be much easier on a desktop computer.

@J.Musser How'd you know I was right in the middle of trying to figure this out?! I have two good GL questions but each needs a few pictures, and I need to make them smaller. I studied the markdown page and tried a few things, but they looked the same in my test answer. I'm sure desktop is easier but these are stored in my iPad. They follow the height/width thing, each being set to 100, but if I lower that number & resave it looks the same. I'll attempt to show you...
@Sue because you said you were... :P

@J.Musser Wasn't that yesterday? Or have I gone crazy? (The latter was rhetorical!)
/i.stack.imgur.com/z9kFY.jpgwidth=%100%10height=%2230%100
@Sue You have gone crazy for sure.
(jk)
@Sue It was yesterday, but I didn't have time for anything yesterday, so my apologies :P

@J.Musser Never apologize, and yes I've gone crazy! In fact, I accidentally hit post on an empty question and got a message saying The body is missing, so I guess I'm crazy and without a body-bad combination!
@Sue haha, happens to the best of us (and the worst I suppose)

The above url produces the following picture

The next picture is this url imgur.com/z9kFY.jpgwidth=%10%10height=%2230%22
So you can see I changed the numbers in the height and width and the image is still the same. :(
@Sue Did you try the bit of html I posted above?
that always works

@Sue imgur supports resizing images directly: see meta.gardening.stackexchange.com/a/254/26
Basically, if imgur has an image called 123456.jpg, adding 'l', 'm' or 's' to the filename gives you a large, medium or small thumbnail.
That works too if you aren't OCD ^^
:D
It's preferably because they do the work of resizing the image, rather than you downloading the full size version and having the browser resize it.
Like @J.Musser's html size="50%" would have you do. :P
:P
My browser can handle it (ie, not using firefox or IE)
lol

@NiallC. I'm so glad you guys are here-this is so frustrating.

I have to see what the safari upload will let me do. When I hit upload I can't type in that box, so I have to figure out how to resize the pic first and save it. Where exactly would I add the s, etc. Right after .jpg?
@J.Musser Yes-that's exactly what I want to do!
@Sue haha, if you click 'edit', you'll see what I did. :P

@NiallC. Actually, this is more helpful than the help page!
@J.Musser Okay, so I can actually post the picture and adjust it before hitting send?
@Sue Not sure what you mean by that... you do have it set to resize before you send your post.

What I meant was can I upload it into the "ask a question" box, but set size parameters before hitting "post,"
@Sue sure!
first answer in a while :D

A: Should I remove dead grass/weeds from my raised beds before planting?

J. MusserOnce the weeds are completely dead, unless the soil is very soft, you'll usually want to loosen up the top layer. This is easier once the dead layer is removed. And some weeds carry vegetable diseases (even without symptoms) and can infect crops. An example in my area is hedge mustard, a common w...

hopefully I'll be able to get back into it more again soon.

@J.Musser Way cool. One of the problems with the safari browser is that when you choose upload, you can't type in the box. You can only go to your stored photos or a web photo and choose one. I think I can do it now, maybe, hopefully!
This site is Awesome
@Sue If you fail, we can edit it for you too. We've got your back :)

@J.Musser That's one of the reasons why this place is so great!
