What are we going to do the next few weeks where Israel and Chul are off-sync? ie which parsha should we discuss?

@DoubleAA Good question; we're going to be off for several weeks. I don't think splitting the chat time (half for each, so any given parsha gets discussed two weeks in a row) would work.
Going with Israel will give us less doubling, so maybe we should be discussing Sh'mini right now. (But I didn't prepare for that.)

How come the Torah interleaves the discussion of non-kosher creatures with tum'ah and taharah? In ch. 11, vv. 1-23 are about what's kosher and what isn't among land-, sea- and air-creatures; then from vv. 24-39 it deals with the tum'ah of various kinds of carcasses, and then 40ff are again about unkosher creeping creatures.
You'd think that at least vv. 40-42 should logically have followed v. 23.

@Alex the kosher and non-kosher animals are also classified as temeot and tehorot

@هه Only the land animals. For the other two types, the Torah uses the word sheketz, not tamei. And indeed the animals that convey tum'ah are all land animals (aside from the special case of ingesting a non-kosher bird, discussed in parshas Emor).
Actually, I take my second sentence partially back. In our parshah that's true, but in Re'eh (Deut. 14:1ff) it does describe the unkosher sea- and air-animals as tamei.
Actually, that should be "ingesting a kosher bird that was not properly slaughtered."
