TRE in six minutes guys, who's ready? @Jan @Wild @Loong @Ont @pH13?
Huh, @Ortho's in time.
> From TRE tips: Please open the links to the questions you want to edit in a new tab. If you open the link in the same tab and use the 'back' button, your results wouldn't be the same as the list and finding which questions you should've edited becomes hard.

Who's ready? If no one is, I can start by myself.

Which tag are we doing, will we get a link and we haven't flipped a table yet!
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M (/¯◡ ‿ ◡)/¯ ~ ┻━┻ Whenever I get a list, I'll do 20!
This is the query, and this is a table flip: (/¯◡ ‿ ◡)/¯ ~ ┻━┻

@Jan do all the questions that have 4 votes.

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Which tag?
Remember to open links to questions in a new tab, and run the query only once.
@Jan Organochem.
Huh, I didn't say that in the pinned message. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Anyway let's begin.
Let's see if we can break to 200 edits.
@Ortho ready?
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Yeah I'm back. Sorry my university internet really hates me.
Oct 9, 2015 15:37
@orthocresol No problem!

Q: Meaning of "mono-N-demethylation"

Mörre NoseshineI know what demethylation is. I have no idea what mono- means, the N is nitrogen of course, I know that from the line structure image in front of me if I could not guess it - and after quite a bit of google searching I gave up and came here. Chemistry is not my field but out of curiosity and fo...

Q: E2 reaction - which one is faster

emsWill a reaction(E2) that has 2 potential product go faster than a reaction that has 3 potential products? specific information - the molecules in the pictures are each reacting with methanol. I figured it's an E2 reaction (I hope I'm right) and the question is which one will go faster?

Affirmative

Q: What is meant by word on arrow?

PrincessWe say : \[\ce{Alcohol ->[\ce{KMnO4}] Acid}\] The alcohol forms a carboxylic acid, ie gains an $\ce{O}$ from $\ce{KMnO4}$. This means $\ce{KMnO4}$ is a reactant! Then why is it written above the arrow? What all do we write on arrow?

Input: This is about a formalism.

Something like but I don't want to add just like that ...
At least add something less vague, like inorganic chemistry or ionic compounds. :/
Jan
Jan
That actually misses the point of the question entirely, much like does xD
Oct 9, 2015 15:42
@Jan TODO: Ask on meta whether we have to expand the scope of nomenclature or do something like that.
Guys please note that needs to be applied to many questions it currently isn't.
Well, the first one you gave me (chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/9716/…) is nomenclature of a reaction but currently the nomenclature wiki says it's only for molecules.
@orthocresol then.
Jan
Jan
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M That doesn't help mine, though, because it is not referring to something .__.'
Yeah.
Just leave that one. Exceptions come sometimes.
Guys there's so much to do, if you see time is being wasted thinking for the tags of a question, leave it to the end.
@Jan how about ?

KelvinWhat is Markovnikov's Rule? My chemistry teacher was teaching organic chemistry, and in reaction he says that it uses MMarkovnikov's rule, and went on teaching, he didn't described it,as he was very strict i could not gather the courage to ask him.

@Mith how many do you want?

Thoughts on that one?
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M Any way I can help ? I don't know if I would be useful :c I don't know that much about chem
Oct 9, 2015 16:34

Q: Is the condenser for a Soxhlet extraction left open on top

Pattison GreyMy question is about the condenser used in a Soxhlet extractions. @CaptCoonoor Well, you can either read the mhchem documentation at ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/mhchem/mhchem.pdf but I'm sure there's a link in meta with a quick guide. I'll look for it.
@CaptCoonoor Chem.SE loads mhchem in addition to basic mathjax, so you can use the \ce command.

Guys I don't extend the time for this TRE. The next one will begin one hour later though.
There are some new questions that we should... try to pay attention to.
So TRE is ending in 2 minutes, since we started off 5 mins late.
@orthocresol Yes, that's why TRE isn't 3 hours long. :)
