Francis has had an interesting childhood. Started off in the family of anarchist colonists in a rimward hab (further from the Sun than Earth). In a...

Splicer morph. Then, somehow, ended up on the streets of Earth.
Just in time for the Fall, ouch.

It sounds like something went horribly wrong with his native hab, and he had to move back to Earth with his family. I have an idea, but lets see what childhood event is like first.

...that does seem to fit the situation
Current theory: Francis had been reinstated on Earth after, presumably, expiring, along with his entire hab. Due to some cricumstance, he had backup insurance, even if the backup's outdated. He's missing a year of his life. His family didn't have a backup on file.
No one knows what happened with the hab. It being an anarchist hab, one of the earliest ones, barely anyone knew about it to begin with. No regular communications. Something must have gone wrong, and a condition on his backup insurance activated.
And Francis was thrust out, on the streets of Earth, with nothing to his name.
Of course, there's another possibility. That Francis is alive and well on his hab, and it's simply become even more isolationist. Which makes this Francis-B.
He's probably pissed at Francis-A, who doesn't even know there's two of them now.
How old is Francis, anyway?
3d10
Francis is 21, and so doesn't have an adult path before the Fall.

Ayah. Which is...
> Despite the advances in biotechnology, the hyperelite still need caretakers for their children and infirm. The ayah pod morph is designed to fulfill all nurse and caretaker functions. Rather than trust lower-class transhumans, hyperelites prefer AGI servants sleeved into ayah morphs, especially in polities where AGIs have few, if any, legal rights. Ayahs are almost always female with pleasant but not stunningly beautiful features.
> Most of the enhanced features of an ayah are built under the hood, so to speak. Their enhanced olfactory capabilities help them monitor the health and emotional state of their wards, as well as alert them to potential environmental dangers. Their ability to withstand temperature extremes and survive without air for short periods helps them protect and rescue their charges in an emergency, such as a hull breach or a fire.
> Ayahs are often modified with bioweave armor and implanted weapons so they can act as a last line of defense against potential attackers.
...wow.
The Fall is the time of chaos, of course. But still. Did Francis just pretend to be an AGI to get sleeved into a nurse bot?
He's going to be one kick-ass nanny.
Did he stay with the hyperelite family for long? I kind of want that to be the case, for him to maintain the deception for a while, and gradually be discovered by the children.
Lets find out. Adult post-fall path is..

Yet again, Francis has reinvented himself. From autonomist child to a street rat youth, to a brief stint as an "AGI" nanny, to a somewhat extreme psychosurgeon.
He must have actually enjoyed his time as an ayah, and the way he's had to change his thinking to pass off as an AGI. That's obviously the foundation of his interest in the field.
He may even have kept his biopod morph. Yeah, I think he did. Most people think it's very weird. He doesn't care.
Since he's only got 8 PPs so far, he'll have to pick up some more.

@Magician Maybe nurse rather than nanny
Francis is a freak and proud of it. Dedicated to helping others be freaks, too.
At least he's not on the cob
@Adeptus Probably, yes.
He's still in an ayah morph. A "female" ayah morph. And his name is still Francis, thank you very much.

> One of your resleeves goes particularly poorly, and now it haunts you. Gain the Morphing Disorder (Level 2) trait (p. 150, EP).
Oh no. Oh no. He likes the idea of changing morphs. Of expressing himself through it. But now he's afraid of something going wrong. Of waking up from a year-old backup somewhere else.
And his current morph is starting to show signs of wear.
A biomorph showing signs of wear would be incredibly creepy.
An eye doesn't quite turn all the way. Flesh has thinned a bit too much on one of the arms, and metal can be seen through it.
Oct 6, 2015 05:57
Biomorphs are cyborgs?
He's an underground psychosurgeon in a creepy robo-nurse morph. Of course Firewall wants him.
Biomorphs are biological bodies. Pods are robotic bodies. Bio-pods are unnatural organisms with bits of tech in them. So, yes, cyborgs.
Ah, I'm not quite correct.
> Pods (from “pod people”) are vat-grown, biological bodies with extremely undeveloped brains that are augmented with an implanted computer and cybernetics system. Though typically run by an AI, pods are socially unfavored in some stations, utilized in slave labor in others, and even illegal in some areas.
> Because pods underwent accelerated growth in their creation, and were mostly grown as separate parts and then assembled, their biological design includes some shortcuts and limitations, offset with implants and regular maintenance. They lack reproductive capabilities. In many habitats, their legal status is a hotly-contested issue. Unless otherwise noted, pods are also considered biomorphs for all rules purposes.
Here's what ayah looks like:
So, Firewall event. If I get 48 or less, I'll add 50 to it.

I suspect Francis went looking for remnants of his native hab. What he found left him with more questions. But hey, money. He can repair his morph!
And one last roll, story event.

Bride Nurse of Frankenstein
Hah, indeed.
Wake-up call... Yeah. Francis-A has shown up on the net. Briefly. That's what's prompted Francis-B to go looking.
Francis-B has dedicated his entire existence to choosing who he is. And now he may have to face who he was.
Rogue psychosurgeon on the quest to find his fork. I like it!
And his morph is heavily modded, of course. He looks like a (creepy) robo nurse. He's also a brawler at heart, with all sorts of useful implants and weaponry.
