I am sorry mods. I think I just went a little crazy with flagging all the dupes. -.-

Clear case of how dangerous PPAs can be and how you should not believe everything you read on the web: askubuntu.com/questions/94283/…
(morning)
err that is a dupe.

Q: I can't install software from the software center

TejaI have a problem with the Software Center. I am not able to install anything from it. After I entered my authorisation password it gives the following error: Failed to download package files check your internet connection. After that it says Requires installation of untrusted packages. The ac...

I am creating a canonical answer on the last one.
so wait a sec.
Just posted the answer. Don't think it is the best answer. Any inputs?

A: I can't install software from the software center

jokerdinoThe reason for the error you get is because of server side issues. To resolve these issues, you can try switching your current server to the main server. To switch your server, open 'Software Sources' and click on the drop down list for 'Download from:'. You can then choose 'Main server'. Aft...

@BrunoPereira That answer you flagged was actually the answer. Just not phrased well.

@jokerdino It was answered 6 days after the user accepted the answer above and does not add anything to it except a "worked for me to". How can that be any answer?
besides that complete question is a dupe of this: askubuntu.com/questions/73997/…
Point noted that the questions are related.
But really, I don't think it is just a 'me too'.

@BrunoPereira I should have told you that I flagged all "Check your internet' questions" as a dupe of askubuntu.com/questions/77487/…
Now if you close it (#77487) as a dupe of #73997 what would actually happen?
@jokerdino Why flag all questions dupe of something more recent? The other way around is not more logical? The questions you are flagging to close have more and better answers than this one...
Which question is that?
(The one that I flagged as dupe but had better answers)
If I did, that was a genuine mistake.
My scheme of thinking for flagging as dupes: 1. The question with great answers 2. The question with more upvotes 3. Questions with high views
@jokerdino How about: there is already a question with this contents and this more recent question is already a duplicate of that? Dont think its a good idea to to marking questions with good answers as dupes of some more recent question with the same or worse answers.... "Now if you close it (#77487) as a dupe of #73997 what would actually happen?"
Just for the fact, I didn't mark #73997 a dupe of #77487.
But every other question with the same content a dupe of #77487.
I didn't notice #73997. If I did, I would have surely marked it as the master question.
Since #77487 was the one that looked more active, I made it to be the main qn.
"Now if you close it (#77487) as a dupe of #73997 what would actually happen?" This was a question I am asking you. If all questions closed as dupe of #77487 and #77487 itself gets closed of #73997, wouldn't there be a need for double redirect?

You should not just flag things because they have the same words on it, you need to read all the content of the question, there can really be a internet connection problem, flagging things will create attention and ppl have a tendency to just agree with a flag without reading all of the question. Besides not all the questions should have a main question that covers all the cases, on this one there can be some other issues. This is way dangerous imho.
I did read the content pretty closely.
You can see the flags right?
If you think it was wrongly flagged, please do invalidate the flag.
Or to the mods, just decline it.
They are invalid? ;(
no, wrong ones
I did take my time reviewing each question and finding the main question, commenting on them and flagging it appropriately.
