@GabrielF While this technically answers the question, it would be preferable if you provide the key points in the link as part of your answer, in the off-chance the link ends up dying eventually. — Thomas W. 2 hours ago
@ThomasW. I understand your concern, and I believe that's quite an interesting issue, but don't I need permission (either from the author or the website) to copy the relevant parts? — GabrielF 1 hour ago
You've already linked to the source, @GabrielF. Leave the source link in place and all should be fine. (ubuntuforums.org won't kill you for that) You'll notice I did so on this answer to another question where I lifted the steps from their site and put them here, but I specifically said the source was not my own. That hasn't been sniped yet, because it's not me stealing information, I said "It's their work, I just copied it to here." — Thomas W. 1 hour ago
@ThomasW. I'm still not convinced... this doesn't answer this simple question: may you copy the contents of the blog such as you did? I can see that linking isn't very appreciated around here, but I'd rather follow this philosophy. The key point here is: I don't have the answer, I'm not sharing my knowledge... I'm sharing my finding. Shouldn't/can we move this to a chat or meta? — GabrielF 29 mins ago
@ThomasW. welcome back. Our friend was not a spammer, but he wasn't any better anyway.
I'm pretty certain I'm in the right, here, because there's no harm in copying content to this site so long as a link back to the source exists, am i right?
@RolandiXor meh, I've moved past it
@ThomasW. I hope you understood what I was saying, in spite of all the misunderstanding.
@RolandiXor yes, however, I moved past it, and am focusing on other issues.

such as the one above
@RolandiXor you're most qualified as a mod to answer such things, is there any policy violations by him (GabrielF) copying in content from a linked-to ubuntuforums.org post?
so that in the off chance the thread goes bye-bye the key points are saved.
@ThomasW. not AFAIK.
@RolandiXor that's what I thought, he's trying to follow some philosophy on meta that's this: meta.askubuntu.com/questions/4007/…
I don't think that philosophy applies anymore :/
or at least, not to THIS situation
@ThomasW. you're right
