@MonicaCellio I guess I was having trouble thinking straight. The change from the gospel of Peter to Peter made the whole edit feel dramatic; and yet it also felt like an even bigger edit was needed to re-frame the question to be less of a self-answer. The Gospel of Peter wasn't discovered until the late 19th century; I doubt anyone seriously believes it was written by Peter. Most date it to mid second century, but even the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary which dates it mid first century says only that it was written in the name and possibly authority of Peter.
