Professor is not satisfied with ordinary software project, they want research based project. I can think of "Circuit Minimization" and "Logic Optimization" Can you think of anything which will require reading some research paper for a Digital IC based Simulator?
@NickHalden you should just add in "with feedback applied" in your op-amp statement to satisfy the pedant. OP-amps w/o feedback are useless - even as comparators.
@VinayakGarg Anyway, enough of freaking you out. I'm very familiar with NSIT, including the Maggi Noodles in the canteen... Equally familiar with IIT-D, where I've taught as a guest faculty. Don't worry about all that. The reason I wanted to know was, to figure out what level of project you would need to do.
@Kortuk I agree, but there are two trends. 1) is total snark "why would you ask that?" - which he also complains about being subject too. 2) He can be wrong very wrong but assumes that because he can't do something that it can't be done.
@VinayakGarg How about this as a subject. Gray code counter generator for counter lengths that are of any arbitrary length esp those that are NOT 2^N (which is the easy case).

@VinayakGarg So tell me, what's the brief your prof gave you? Broad guidelines? Maybe we can structure a good project idea out of that. Also, is this BE-1 or BE-final, or what?
@AnindoGhosh, @rawbrawb : I am more of software guy. But my second (or third) interest is Digital Circuits. So I would want a project in software. My current idea is mix of both

@VinayakGarg OK, so to start with - If it's Dhananjay, he'll expect a project that has practical application and fills a specific gap. So replicating Fritzing or improving it in a small way won't work. Fair point?

@VinayakGarg OK cool. So if it's a CS project, and you do want to bring in a hardware angle, think carefully about the gap you will be filling. Explain that to yourself, or to me, and I think we can take it up from there.
