Evening
che
So, are we supposed to have a critique session? :-)
Rowland Shaw
Ironically, I think I was the only one that registered for it (and therefore got the reminder)
che
The reminder has shown up in this room as well.
Rowland Shaw
True, so that's you and @jrista as well :)
Have we anything to critique then
How about:
che
Nice one.
If you want a critique I'd perhaps put the in-focus flowers more to the golden section. Now you have both of them more or less in the middle.

Well, I can't reshoot for about 6 months ;)
che
I like the dark foreground/light background effect and the vignette.
Rowland Shaw
Glad it's not just me that likes that one then :)
jrista
We need a better way of advertising these critique sessions.
che
@jrista We need more people on the site, that will naturally boost attendance.
jrista
yeah
assuming they know about teh chat and the critique sessions

@jrista Chat is pretty obvious on the sidebar. Perhaps having a separa photo critique room would make it more obvious there is such thing.
jrista
yeah, that might help
Rowland Shaw
Can be arranged
che
Anyway, I've got a photo as well:
Rowland Shaw
Not sure what story that photo is trying to tell?
She's holding her belly to imply pregnancy, but the unmade bed doesn't fit with her smart appearance
Well lit though
che
The actual story is "I wanted to try a lighting setup", so I guess it doesn't entirely work as an environmental portrait.

Well, the lighting setup worked, so that's one thing :)
che
I wasn't exactly the thing I was going for...
I'm not sure if I'd be able to find an example :/
...sort of similar to this:
I think I'd have to put the main light even higher, have a wall behind her and somehow shade it.
Rowland Shaw
IT's almost as if you want the light more directional, like from a high window
(or with a snoot on a strobe)
che
@RowlandShaw Directional and soft... something like snooted softbox :-)
Or flagged umbrella, that could work...
Anyway it probably won't work with the room visible in the background.
Rowland Shaw
A first step would be to kill the light in the room behind
(close curtains, turn light off)
che
I lit it deliberately, thereby probably killing the effect I was aiming for.
:(
Okay then, anyone else got something?
che

Look like good night then. Thanks for the critique and good night.
