Welcome to Project Update Thursday
This week's topics include: hurricane damage, brick walls, halloween candy, and exploded batteries in flashlights.
As for me, I only found one minor leak to fix from the hurricane, and a few electronics with dead/exploded batteries
Don't all chime in at once, it's hard to follow when you're all so talkative.
Welcome @Pschultz, in case you didn't notice, we're waiting for you to tells us what you've been working on lately. We'll just sit here and stare at your gravatar until you do. (Just kidding... well, mostly kidding.)
Ooh. I forgot it was Thursday. Thanks you, PUT. For reminding me another week is almost gone.
These hurricanes really throw off my schedule, I thought Tuesday was Sunday
ok, time to go all Enron on some old bank statements. I'll give you guys a topic while I shred: what's the appropriate daddy tax rate on Halloween candy?
@BMitch 5%, unless you walked around with them, then it's closer to 10%.
14'x2' wall = 180 bricks @ 6 lbs/brick = 1080 lbs.
+ the weight of mortar.
That's 1/2" mortar joints.
Standard 8" x 2 1/4" brick.

how come there's no PUT notification on the website?

@Steven huh, maybe that's why no one is here
I guess it's as good a time as any to schedule the winter edition of PUT, anyone mind me cutting it down to one hour?
I don't have a whole lot this week
although I am finding new uses for the rotary tool and the multi tool all the time
making cuts in 2x4s, e.g., instead of dragging out the miter saw for a cut, just marking it with a pen and using the oscillating multi tool

BMitch has added an event to this room's schedule.
I've only scheduled future PUT's for one hour since that's about as long as we seem to last.
@BMitch I'll bet your wife says otherwise.

Here's a picture of someone that got it up, but wasn't able to get it back down: autoblog.com/2012/11/01/…
[some-genius] forgot to flatten out the top.
why did they even bother driving over?
Just walk over at that point
I'm guessing there was a big dessert after the fence
I have to laugh at the auto-ads on the page advertising that vehicle. If it won't make it over the damn fence, I'm not buying it!

alright, since we started early, and the chat died really early, and we didn't have the event scheduled, I'm going to call this PUT a bit early
Thanks for joining this week's PUT
