a teacher gave me a D in one of my classes, i emailed him saying wtf thats impossible, he claimed to have updated it to a C, but the system still says D like 12+ hours later

@David There's a set time limit on how long you can officially challenge a grade. It's usually only one or two weeks.

no it's not. you're asking him to update the grade

universities/colleges have a process where a student can officially challenge a grade through the dean's office and it's reviewed by a panel

that process usually has a very short window where it can be initiated

so, yes, the professor can change it if he wants whenever he feels like it. you, however, have no recourse if this window expires and he says "whoops lol, not changing it. suck it"

Get with your student advisor if you have one and see what they believe. There is a due process. Also, if you bug the professor and he just flat out gets pissed and won't change it then you have the window of opportunity to challenge it
