neat, I'm 4th on the site for OOD tag, and 12th for "design", yay me. Never noticed my tag rankings before

@MichaelT was there a legitimate reason you flagged?

user55340
@AlUmmatمجاهد My chat? No reason to keep a link to an answer that has no text at all in it... and to give our new mod some practice with chat flags.

@MichaelT I think chat flags are handled by normal non-mods, no?

@MichaelT Chat flags are annoying, they go out to every moderator and every user with 10K+ net rep on the network. If it's not urgent, don't.

yes, please, unless you have a legitimate reason, do not flag

10:16 PM
better to ping one of us ProgSE mods directly than to chat flag.

user55340
Ok... didn't know that, thank you for the additional knowledge.

@MichaelT Your new moderator will get enough practice with flags
be assured :)

@AlUmmatمجاهد The flag was legit, deleting that chat message was a good call. It's the chat flag system that's broken.

47 mins ago, by MichaelT
Hmm... that question is gone...
@YannisRizos what do you mean broken?

@AlUmmatمجاهد For starters, I never saw the flag. Which is a bit moronic, given that I was in the room when it was casted. It went to a couple of moderators but not to the site's moderator that was in the room.

10:21 PM
@YannisRizos I see

It should really go to the site's mods first and then everyone else. No reason to annoy people across the network, especially when one of the site's mods is in the room.

I just stumbled upon single assignment C. Interesting.
wandering around in old questions on P.SE there are some randomly interesting things, this in particular is awesome:

Q: Let me opt out of viewing chat flags

MDMarraI'm not a moderator. I have ~50k rep on Server Fault. I am a regular in chat. Because chat allows all 10k+ users across the network to act on chat flags, I (and many other regulars in SF chat) see some problematic users from other chats flagging things that aren't actually offensive. I disagree...

Q: Opt-Out for chat flags

GordonToday, we had a user in the PHP chat bug people by repeatedly asking the same question. The user would ping individuals with the same message. I've asked the user to please stop bugging people and moved the messages to bin (message trashcan). Unfortunately, the OP continued, so I started to fla...

psr
The lack of context on chat flags is the killer for me. I don't feel what you get is enough to make a reasonable decision, so I never do.

@psr that is why it is recommended for mods and or 10k users to read the transcript
I know some people who say to just ignore them if it is not your room
this is the best advice

@psr yeah, the few chat-flags I've seen I could not make heads or tails of what was being talked about

@psr also, here's a feature request you might find interesting meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/86597/…

@AlUmmatمجاهد I don't want to opt out, I want the system to prioritize correctly. Chat flags casted in a room should go to the parent site's mods first, especially if they are in the room at the time.

@Dynamic @mikebrown You were worthy opponents, I'm honored to have competed with you.

@YannisRizos yes, agreed

@WorldEngineer nice victory walk, but get all those flags taken care of already, I'm waiting patiently for you to handle them so I can make some more.

Attention everyone: @WorldEngineer has just accepted the mod agreement, which means he is now officially out of excuses. Let the games begin!
@WorldEngineer You have to accept the mod agreement on Meta too, technically it's a separate site. Although I wouldn't really blame you if you didn't ;)

user55340
MPE.SE? or M.SO?

psr
@WorldEngineer - Don't sign. Tell them they aren't paying you for Meta.

user55340
10:57 PM
I bet they'd double his pay for meta if he asked.

@MichaelT Meta ProgSE. If moderating Programmers involved moderating MSO, I'd quit (or wouldn't run at all).

user55340
@YannisRizos But then you couldn't close the breast enlargement questions....

@YannisRizos does the agreement say anything like "I solemnly swear to bla bla bla for life and goodness and puppy dogs bla bla bla" or is it more like a EULA "The aforementioned parties (hereto referred to as "Party" except when expressly dissociated with the mentioned terms per subsection 3g, regardless of addenda or appendix thereafter) ..."

ah the former

10:59 PM
Ya know... I bet we could ask Leslar to come back and ask some questions for @WorldEngineer to work on...

@MichaelT I'm just glad merge powers have been revoked so we don't have to worry about the newbie accidentally merging one of us with leslar goma

user20683
@JimmyHoffa or merging all of you into Community

I'd be ok with that, I'd answer all the questions with impugnity as THE COMMUNITY

user20683
@JimmyHoffa We are the Stack Exchange...lower your firewall and surrender you disk. Your syntactical and semantical distinctiveness will be added to our own. Your content will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

I think I've flagged more today than in all the time I've been here before. I think I see why @gnat enjoys it so much, it's fun

11:26 PM
@JimmyHoffa not that I enjoy it much here; at Programmers most of my flags involved substantial effort. Real fun was at SO when they just opened Late Answers queue... it felt like a shark hunting...
...for about a week or something I've been easily using all the flags up to the limit,...
...it took me just 10-15 minutes a day to raise and none was declined
pure clean easy not-an-answer, spam etc
those were the days
made me understand how Andrew Barber could reach his 8800 flag count at SO...
...I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Late Answer queue just borrowed some SEDE query he has been using for years :)
at Programmers, it's not that much fun, except for some tricky cases when the challenge is to condense compelling issue explanation into limited flag message

user20683
@gnat ready when you are

@WorldEngineer preparing a flag to convince you to influence developers to merge me into ChrisF... gotta take a while to wordsmith
500 chars are fairly strict limit

user20683
@gnat Not if you speak Chinese or APL

@WorldEngineer if he spoke APL he wouldn't need to convince any one of anything, he would already have his answer

11:46 PM
okay gotta learn Chinese and APL after I am done with C#, this shouldn't take long
neither of three :)

user20683
@gnat J might be easier being ASCII only

@YannisRizos is there a way for me to see if my flags have been handled?

user20683
@JimmyHoffa your flags have been handled

Lame.
I stink at this flagging thing

user20683
@JimmyHoffa it's only because you've seen a crazy high standard

11:58 PM
Maybe I'll write a haskell crawler tonight to look for some key phrases I know indicate a flaggable
