is really a good idea for a tag?

I do not like it.. when the review for it came.. I wanted to reject it.. but then I chose skip..

how distinct is -visitors from -citizens? Should we merge them and come up with a different suffix?

I think we should make it simple... just ..
easier

because we already opted to have one tag per language and is the tag for the japanese language
small flightless birds from new zealand do have very special travel needs
fuzzy green fruit may have to be vigilant against fruitfly

ok..
language is not the common tag
so it should have the language suffix..
in linguistics.. it would be logical to have to refer to the language..

12:37 AM
and less grammatical

I mean in linguistics site..
but in travel site.. we can use the same to refer to citizens and to visitors or whatever..

new people would be very likely to misuse them though because the tag suggester would pop them up and they wouldn't read the tag excerpt or there would be a missing tag excerpt

as i predicted ages ago we have at least one visa waiver question which is not about the US visa waiver program, thus HTF to tag it: )-:
2
Q: Visa waiver for Indian citizens who have a US/Schengen Visa

freethinkerhttp://www.sunstar.com.ph/breaking-news/2012/06/21/indians-can-enter-philippines-sans-visa-21-days-227996 What is the procedure of extending the visa from a 14 day visa to a 21 day visa?

or maybe it is and i just don't understand it \-: - it mentions both schgen and usa???

@hippietrail he is asking to enter the Philippines.. so it is the Philippines visa waiver..
that's whats in the link he provided..

ok so the visa waiver tag does turn out to be a mess as predicted d-;

1:24 AM
I think tag should be enough
the is specific to the US program..
and that does not really need a separate tag.. its visa!

but visa waivers are not specific to that program or that country. right?

yes..
any country can have a visa waiver...

well that's not how we decide to make new tags. we could reason on just having on tag "trave" because "its a travel question!"

not only the US.. and that tag uses the same name as it is called in the US..

the criteria for having a distinct tag should be whether we would envisage having a substantial number of distinct questions on the subject of the tag

1:26 AM
it can be
so it can include the visa waiver program and other visa waivers..

yes i think that's what i proposed back when. if there's lots of specifically us-waiver ones then i recommend prepending us- or usa- to the current tag

can I add the visa-waivers tag to this question?
I did already..
its about visa-waivers.. not about visas..

sure you have my support - but please give it an excerpt to make it less confusable with the current tag

I do not have enough vocabulary to do that..
seriously..

yeah in one interpretation a visa waiver is a kind of visa, in another interpretation it's the opposite of a visa

1:30 AM
it is a visa without having a visa..

well you already told me what it means so now you just have to tell everybody what it means d-;

it is a condition that allows you to be exempted from the regular visa..
that's how I always understand it..
maybe the info in my head is wrong.

except then you might need another visa which is not called a visa as well - like an ESTA d-:

waiver means like exemption... right?
English-wise?

almost

1:33 AM
from the US visa waiver program:
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables nationals of 37 participating countries* to travel to the United States for tourism or business (visitor [B] visa purposes only) for stays of 90 days or less **without obtaining a visa**
so it is exemption..

literally it's like "there this rule, but for you it doesn't matter"

lately, saudi made an agreement with the us.. the trusted traveler program
where people from both countries can enter the other country with fingerprint..
I applied to the program online.. and guess what! they approved it only for entering by car from mexico!!

if you're interested in improving your english, this is a fun way to figure out near synonyms: waiver vs exemption

I do not recall mentioning Mexico any where.. I am from Saudi.. thousands of miles of ocean in the middle.. and they approve it for land entry.. stupid...

looks like we need to go on a road trip! (=
well if the US used it's most intelligent people in the immigration department who would be left to run the republican party?

1:45 AM
