Perl is a high-level, general-purpose, interpreted, dynamic programming language. Though Perl is not officially an acronym, there are various backronyms in usage, such as: Practical Extraction and Reporting Language. Perl was originally developed by Larry Wall in 1987 as a general-purpose Unix scripting language to make report processing easier. Since then, it has undergone many changes and revisions and become widely popular amongst programmers. Larry Wall continues to oversee development of the core language, and its upcoming version, Perl 6. Perl borrows features from other program...

@AmithKK hahaha

4:31 PM
Java is a programming language originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems (which has since merged into Oracle Corporation) and released in 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems' Java platform. The language derives much of its syntax from C and C++ but has a simpler object model and fewer low-level facilities. Java applications are typically compiled to bytecode (class file) that can run on any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture. Java is a general-purpose, concurrent, class-based, object-oriented language that is specifically designed to...

@AmithKK ha fany

> "...but has a simpler object model..."
Spits out teeth...

its strange, isnt it... we have such ease at unleashing /dev/chaos into here...

@Alvar c/ \ c++ java

its like /dev/chaos absolutely wants to exist here

4:32 PM

Can you answer this? How to make Nautilus remember the windows position? http://askubuntu.com/questions/162737/how-to-make-nautilus-remember-the-windows-position?atw=1 #nautilus

@GeorgeEdison - I don't know why that fellow with the QT C++ question didn't hit up SO. I think he wanted a 5 minute answer

Me neither.

I wasn't going to drop your name in chat so he didn't stop by and ping you with QT questions anytime he hit a block

lol
@aking1012 excellent thinking
i know @George hates it when i nag him about bugs in his programs :P

Status set to "works for me"

4:44 PM
SPEAKING OF WHICH
oh dear...
@GeorgeEdison you're the stackapplet guy right?
actually good reason about this... there's a crash bug :P

oh. there was some discussion the other day about repo not being in sync with ppa i think

that's a different issue :P
this one's literally a crash bug
and its hided :P
can see the crash bug though
@GeorgeEdison ART THOU ALIVE?

@LordofTime Yes.

@George apparently someone has a crash in stackapplet... version... um...
Package: stackapplet 1.4.0-2, precise.
want me to subscribe you? (its private to bugcontrol and other authed teams atm)

1.4 is old.

4:49 PM
its whats listed in precise atm apparently

I've got an alpha for 1.6 out and the previous stable release is 1.5.1.

at least according to this bug

@LordofTime Oh yeah, that's right...
One second...

and aparently 1.4.0-2 is also in Quantal
so...

18 hours ago, by George Edison
user image
You need to see the comments in that context ---^

4:50 PM
@GeorgeEdison just be glad you know someone who can see the crash bugs, no?

That's true.

@GeorgeEdison link to comments?
@GeorgeEdison also, you may want to see the crash bug to make sure you've got a fix for it
i can subscribe you if you want, its marked as private, so...

Sure, feel free to subscribe me.

whats your lpid again?

@LordofTime You can see the context by clicking the '18 hours ago' link.
@LordofTime george-edison55

4:52 PM
@George is this in Universe?
if so i can prod micahg to see if he can assist getting the newer into Ubuntu
unless you want a debian maintainer (I could take a stab at it if you really wanted)
that's the crash bug

Thanks.

@jrg how so?

Whoah... it looks like the Python interpreter is crashing.
@LordofTime That's actually a bug with the API.
I'll comment on that one.

@GeorgeEdison as an aside, do me a favor and subscribe the dev team to the bugs of the package in Ubuntu.
and if you'd like, i can invalid that bug, or won't fix it
just lemme know which you'd like there
(bug control is awesome, i have it for nginx as i'm one of their triagers, but i can help out with yours too </bugcontroladopt>)

4:56 PM
Ah, I didn't realize I wasn't subscribed to the Ubuntu package.

yeah the team doesnt appear subscribed
for the sole reason you dont seem to be seeing the Ubuntu bugs
in future if i see a bug i'll autoupstream it to the LP project
then you'll be autosubscribed (the dev team)

anyone else having timeouts trying to log in to the ubuntu wiki?

the alternative is you put me on the dev team as a triager, and i just be like "HAI! NEW BUG HERE: <link>"
xD

I've commented on that last bug now.
As for the first bug... I really don't know what to do... it really appears like the Python interpreter itself is crashing.
...and debugging that is waaaay outside my scope.
