9:29 AM
@GraceNote thanks again! \o/
Hi @derobert , are you here?

9:57 AM
@Szabolcs No problem. You got the newest email?
Ooh, I see you've already busied yourself. Let me direct your attention to an important page to fix up first, though - the About page.

@GraceNote I set up an account and added a few contributors already. I need to leave this week and I'll be away during next week, but I'll find another admin today or tomorrow.
@GraceNote Thanks, these advices are very welcome. I don't have much experience with WordPress.

@Szabolcs It'll be under "pages" in the leftside dashboard, I added a skeletal template of one, but you'll need to touch it up. Here's an example of what Arqade's About page looks like: blog.gaming.stackexchange.com/about

@GraceNote That's useful, thanks! Why does it say that it's an unofficial blog? Should we also make a note like that, or do does it just mean that it's a community blog (i.e. not written by SE employees)?
@GraceNote A few question about the first things I need to do: 1. fix up the 'pages' 2. create 'contributor' users for everyone who wants to write posts. It's good if they can start writing when they feel like even if the posts will be published only later. 3. I guess it's okay to leave the site empty until we graduate---how long do you think it'll take? A couple of weeks only or more than a month? If you think it may be longer than a month, then there's no point waiting
until graduation before publishing the first posts
@GraceNote The CDF plugin thing can wait, but it's important that we should be able to attach 'notebook files' (Mathematica source code in its special format). Is this allowed? Can I tell people that they can attach their notebooks? derobert said he had trouble uploading txt files

10:53 AM
@GraceNote One thing we might need is LaTeX/MathJax support. Is it possible to add this? Regarding the CDF plugin: it is here.

11:20 AM
@derobert I was curious how you manage the blog schedule over at Cooking.SE and how you use the 'WordPress roles' to help with the workflow. Is there a way for a post author to mark the post for review and notify people about it, or is everything done though a chatroom (or meta)?

11:31 AM
@GraceNote When trying to upload a notebook file (extension: .nb), I get the error "Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons."

11:49 AM
@Szabolcs Hm... okay
@Szabolcs First thing to do is to get that first post on there before we make it fully public
Graduation time depends on how long it'll take Jin to come up with a design, but you're on the list, so it shouldn't be too long, ideally.
@Szabolcs I will look into this. There's probably a setting somewhere that I can flip to fix this, and if I can't find it, I know someone who will know what to do.
@Szabolcs I will activate the MathJax right now. As for the CDF, if you have a thread on your meta about this, please post that link there - I need to show this to the devs to get it installed, and it's smoother if there's a Meta post that I can just point them at rather than a link in a chatroom.
And... MathJax is now enabled

@Szabolcs here now...

12:34 PM
@Szabolcs We manage the blog schedule entirely outside Wordpress. Currently, we use a combination of chat.SE and a gmail account we set up to communicate with authors. We use a Google Calendar on that account to keep track of the schedule
@Szabolcs also, editing posts is much easier in LibreOffice/Word than in Wordpress, at least for us.
Of course, we're not dealing with equations.
Wordpress does have its own workflow for this, sort of. Someone who is a contributor can set their post as pending review. Someone who is editor (or admin, of course) can review it and publish (or schedule for publishing). Of course, Wordpress doesn't bother to notify anyone when an article is ready for review.

7 hours later…
7:46 PM
@GraceNote It looks like we'll probably publish it at the same time with graduating.
@GraceNote Thanks! The notebook file extension is .nb. It'd probably be good to increase the max file size from 300 kB to something larger too (1 MB would be much better), for the same reason.
@GraceNote I posted on meta, please see here.

Thanks, Szabolcs
