Q: Are questions about pinball machines on topic?

I've been meaning to ask a question concerning actual real-life pinball machines, but also emulated in some digitized versions such as FarSight's Pinball Arcade. More specifically, the purpose of the loud bang when a replay is awarded. Would this question be on topic in Gaming SE?

Down votes are temporary. There is a reason that you can remove a vote after it has been edited. If someone posts a vague question, and then the user edits it for clarity, you can remove your down vote.

Okay, fair enough, but all I'm saying is that I've noticed a pattern where often, questions that should have decent scores get downvoted profusely because some other element of them relates to something either controversial, or disliked by some people, even though the actual question is fine.

I get downvotes on answers which are correct and even highly voted. Dozens of users find the answer useful, while some users, for a reason or another, don't think it is useful. This is fine - it means that user didn't think it was useful. My answer doesn't have to be bad to get downvoted.

We can do pretty much nothing at all to control how or why people vote. It's totally up to them on an individual basis. I might downvote a question about breast physics in a game because I don't think it's a very appropriate question for a site. Someone else might upvote it because they like the words "jiggle physics". Yet another might upvote it because they wanted to know, too. Another might downvote it because they feel it showed a lack of research.

It really doesn't matter why. They get to decide how and when to cast their votes.

That said, it's a game with a significant 'social' multiplayer component, where scheduling can be important, and thus, seeing the time is handy.

one of the main reasons I switched to the new method is I got several complaints that people didn't like doing a new game every week.

I do think there's a need for subtags on Diablo 3. And in the same principle that I purport for the race tags on Starcraft (to link to words like "Mutalisk" without needing to explicitly state "Zerg"), I see the same utility for the classes on Diablo 3.

But I'm not familiar enough with the whole Diablo 3 ecos to say that the class divide is a strong one to use for tagging. Also not familiar enough for me to step in and say "This is a bad idea", though.

Q: Are runed skills always better than non-runed?

Is there any reason to not rune skills? From their descriptions they simply add additional effects (fire, greater area of effect, adds teleport, etc) and don't suggest any sort of trade-off. They don't seem to lose any of their original impact, but I may not be noticing among the hack-and-slash...

I'm currently using an upgraded mini-gun for my ranger. Since I upgraded the gun, I've not had any green thumb items drop. Is it because the item drops are compared against the upgraded stats or do they compare them at level 1? So, basically, if something that could be potentially better when...

Q: How long do Caltrops last?

If Caltrops are activated their effect last for 6 seconds, matching the skill description. But the skill description doesn't mention how long can the trap remain non-activated on the ground, and whether there's anything else which can make Caltrops disappear. What are those details?

And unfortunately, they can't stand on their own as tags, because monk and barbarian are just not good tags.

Hence the need for prefixing.

Which I hate so very much.

Funnily enough, EO3 and EO4 are actually worse about it, but that's because they're using class names like "Zodiac", "Arbalest", and "Fortress" which already in themselves have other connotations (which is what they evoke in true EO style, but, well, you know what I mean in tagging).

@Wipqozn86 I've really enjoyed it so far. Reminds me of Diablo 2 with all the loot drops and grindy-ness, but has an added tower strategy coolness.

Q: I Cannot find a door in the room with the flashing pink platforms

I have done up and down the room with the pink flashing platforms off the waterfall/weeping guy node. I can only find the door at the very top. It would be really helpful if someone could tell me where the other door is.

It never really slows down... it just kind of stutters sometimes

Q: Can't go to jail

I was in the jarls palace in whiterun and "accidentally" took an item called "unusual gem." Now every time I go to whiterun then I get massacred by a huge group of guards and if I kill anybody I'll just be digging myself into a bigger hole. :(
