7:00 PM
Dumped whole registry, 136 MB .reg file. :D

Windows should gzip that database or something. It would slow down performance, but having that option should compress the registry by a ton. It's all text, anyway.

@sidran32: Yup, 10 MB in a .zip file. :D
That awkward moment when... My whole registry is as big as three songs, zomg!

7:16 PM
@TomWijsman And .zip is a crappy compression regime anyway. :P

Vanilla has no gzip... :(
Or maybe it does, if I write a C# program first. :P
Oh wait, doesn't come with VS.
@sidran32: And it get's worse...
Oh, this is handy. I can just mount it because it is a VHD, so useful...

7:38 PM
@TomWijsman Oh, how fun.
@TomWijsman You know you can just download 7-zip. On Windows, it's all the compression you'll ever need (complete with Explorer hooks, GUI, and scritable command-line interface).

Yeah, I know.

Is that a throwaway MSN account? Someone hack it?

It's a one-line input field and not a text area!!!

?

When you create a Careers profile (careers.stackoverflow.com) you can enter what your favorite editor is.
The screenshot is from the description for that.

7:45 PM
Ah.

For some reason I got an invite.
Surely not for my amazing contributions to SO.
"In recognition of your contributions to Stack Overflow, we’d like to invite you"... I have 400 rep or so there.

Heh
I should participate there more. My rep is 111, and I'm a programmer by trade..

@sidran32 So am I, and almost my entire rep is from questions. I just don't like the site though.

But... it's a lot of web programming stuff...
Seems like web programming is where most of the programmers are at these days
I've done it, but it's not my bread & butter.

8:16 PM
is there an alternative to newegg for industry users
maybe one at least for just monitors
like a 30" 3:4 aspect ratio screen either doesn't have a traditional stand or one that can be taken off

8:40 PM
@sidran32 No, my main. I think they are just concerned about me logging into two Windows 8 Customer Previews using the same account... :D

8:54 PM
@TomWijsman I am home now and got a few minutes, want me to check the size of the folder here? (64 bit windows 7)

9:06 PM
@stoicfury not particularly that I know of. you could always contact individual monitor dealers for information though (Like dell)

roger

9:50 PM
@WilliamHilsum Already did myself. But you could look at that.
Please select the files with File as type, not the whole folder.
Although I think selecting either wouldn't be a big difference, though...

Which folder again?

C:\Windows\System32\Config

Yup, as big as my Windows 7. But well, this Friday I'm going to try to compare them to see where I spent all the MBs.

honestly, first time I have looked there!

10:04 PM
What do you do if you find article in 2 languages contradicting each other with facts on Wikipedia?

10:34 PM
@sidran32 You can't sterilize with water.

@Boris_yo ignore them and move on with my life

1 hour later…
11:45 PM
hey @SimonSheehan - this is easier than Twitter :)
about Judiasm, there are two kinds of Jews, those still waiting for the Messiah and those who believe the Messiah (Jesus) has already come. Those are "completed Jews"

@studiohack Well here I'm looking at "Reform Judaism", "Conservative Judaism" and "Orthodox Judaism"

yes, there are Orthodox Jews... Reform and Conservative, not sure about those

See, the problem here is that the course is being taught word for word through some text book
There isn't any discussion or anything, and it's become a real waste of my day, which is unfortunate.

gah, I hate textbooks most of the time
I have a business class online - where we read the textbook and then take quizzes. no discussion except for some online. but nothing much personal... so I relate
@SimonSheehan Reformed Jews sound very similar to the Sadducees in the New Testament (sorry - spelling of Sad U see :P)

@studiohack Hmm.. Well im just going to copy the answers from the text book...the teacher doesnt look at content, just sees if theres writing on your page..

11:52 PM
eh, don't mind me, it's your assignment @SimonSheehan :P
how do you see things? Christian? Jew? something else?

@studiohack Oh no, im definitely interested in your opinion. Probably would learn more from you than this guy :P
@studiohack Well I was raised Christian, and I take to some of the beliefs... not into the catholic church though.

@SimonSheehan oh? hahah that would be funny :P
@SimonSheehan So you're raised Catholic? but believe only some of it?

@studiohack yep. I grew up going to church every sunday and all. Only recently I decided to pick and choose what I believe, and what I dont
Really I just think its all an explanation of how to live life more than anything

@SimonSheehan Interesting... I'm a Christian myself, though am not Catholic... more evangelical/Protestant

@studiohack Not entirely sure what evangelical is... mind briefing me on it?

11:55 PM
@SimonSheehan interesting idea that you say that... so you think it might be an explanation for how to live life now? what about after we die?

@studiohack I don't know exactly about Heaven or that... but I do think we move onto something. I take the Bible as a big story book, with messages on how we should be treating others and striving to make a dent in this world.

@SimonSheehan well, to put it simply, I believe (and evangelicals in general) that the Bible is true and applicable to our lives, that one needs to be "born again" to receive salvation
@SimonSheehan like a book of Aesop's fables?

@studiohack Ahh okay, I see
@studiohack In a way :P

@SimonSheehan As you probably know, Jesus did tell stories like that - parables in the New Testament
so you have a point there... that's one way to look at it. it's also God's message to us... how to live this life, how we can follow and live for God's glory

@studiohack That is true. I do believe that there is a higher power (No other real explanation as to how we got here), but I'm not so sure about praying to god for forgiveness, etc.

11:59 PM
@SimonSheehan why not so sure?
i.e. God is unfeeling? a robot?
