@daze413 no dinos to be had, and octopi only work when all wet ;)

BTW, out of curiosity, what's the CR of a level 7 PC?

He looks to be quite well into his years, but seems to stop rather abruptly when he sees you coming down the road. "Um, I don't have tea handy, and I'm...OK I suppose, but the crypts...they sure aren't!"

@Papayaman1000 I'd have to compute it m8 -- depends strongly on the PCs build, haha

"Its just back that way and take the second left..." he points behind him down the road

"wait. The crypt guardian is ...dead?"

he then pulls out some dried meat and pops it into a mouth seemingly behind his back

"Undead, to be precise"

I draw my bow.

[suspicious stare]

"Please. Turn. Around."

[Ready quarterstaff to parry]

He chuckles and turns around, showing you the rather plain-looking cloak? on his back. "Oh, just giving my traveling companion a snack."

The cloaker chuckles back. If you could see it, it'd be grinning with mirth at this scene.

"Can I poke it?" [pokes whatever's behind that cloak with the quarterstaff]

"Hardcore... Can I touch it?"

we swarm on his cloaker pet

"It took a shine to me in the Underdark quite a many moons ago, and we've been friends ever since. Just be gentle with it." You feel the cloaker's leathery skin under your hands. It lets out a sound that'd be the Deep Speech version of a contented purr.

THe woodsman pipes up again "Now now though, there isn't much time to waste. I'm sure I can introduce you to my companion more later."

I release the pressure and put my arrow back in the quiver.

A shiver runs up Jorunar's spine. "Let's see to these crypts, then. By the way, what is your name? And how can we contact you?"

"I'm Lathlaeril. Send a page."

"Just send a beast for me, it'll know where to find me. I have to get to town and warn them about the ghasts though...the zombies are one thing."

I apparently should have picked Undead instead of monstrosity :)

[I prestidigitate a small piece of kibble and toss it gently at the cloaker.]

The cloaker chomps the kibble happily "Tasty!"

Jorunar backs away a step, totally not in fear...

"Alright - we shall do so" I'd happily run to town for you if we weren't needed in the crypts. Did you know I once ran 25 miles to warn my clan of danger?"

"Let's go, then" [small font] "that thing is giving me the creeps"[/small font]

"Twenty-five miles is quite a bit, yes."

"Good luck!" with that, he trots off

"Farewell, small one. [grin at cloaker and give a small parting wave]"

then breaks into a faster run, cloaker trailing out in the wind behind him

"So, uh... dibs on the first zombie."

"You can have as many as you want, I dont savor putting them in my mouth when wild shaped..."

"Well, that was weird. Undead really aren't my thing, but I'm happy to help in any way. On a side note, all i've got are torches. Fancy-pants wizard - can you cast light?"

"Yes I can make a light! Who do you think I am, some two-bit abjurer?"

"I can see in the dark, so..."

You make it to the crypt entrance in question without incident. It is a mounded area with a stone entryway but no door to seal it off. A stone tablet with a single letter "B" carved into it sits at the top of the entry.

"Same here. Honestly I just use it for a booklight."

[Prestidigitate it into a fancy "L", with a light chuckle]

mumbles, "Mom said I should have hunted undead. But noooooooo. I had to hunt monstrosities"

"Oh, shut up, you."

"You were just itching to kill that cloaker, weren't you?" [didnt the guy say he sealed off the exit]

slightly slurs, "Let's go!"

"I kind of regret packing invisibility against zombies and such. They usually have good sniffers on 'em."

[Wander in nonchalantly]

@daze413 [sealed off as many as he could, but this isn't equipped for that as you can tell]

The first room is actually rather modestly lit, but mostly empty, an antechamber or foyer of sorts. A path continues out the other side and into what looks to be a larger room

"we're not a particularly stealthy bunch, and usually we end up blowing up or ripping apart whatever we find, so I'll just go ahead and..."

"I'm stealthy!"<burp>"Seriosly, though. I am."

I cast Barkskin on myself then turn into a cave bear

"Why stealth when you can just make yourself invisible and have the walls whisper maddening secrets to cover your trail?"

<takes another drink>"Anyone want some before we go further?"

[Ready firebolt.]

"No thanks. I prefer tea."

Guess I can't shoot past you.

You move into the next room, this one larger (30' x 30') with statues in the corners, benches in the middle, and a forced-open ornate gate on the other side. A pair of zombies are shuffling around the room in a most aimless fashion -- one even stumbles on a bench utterly dumbly and proceeds to get back up, not even noticing the obstacle.

I'll be rear guard.
