Q: A different cyclicity condition

Wen1nowNote: Although this may seem maths-related, I did do some research on meta and it seems that questions which take an 'elegant' solution are on-topic. There are many ways to tell if four points are cyclic (i.e lie on a circle). However, given four points and angles and lengths as shown below, wha...

Any tips for how I can improve the intelligibility of my answer here? I kind of want it to stay all emoji, or add as few words as possible.
One thing I just realized is that 🔪 can face left or right, depending on OS/browser, which might be confusing
(oddly enough, it seems 🔫 is always left-facing)

1:47 AM
My first recommendation would be replacing the white square.
White squares are used for undisplayable characters, so it's confusing.

1:57 AM
I think I'd also go with 💀 over the coffin, which is a pretty ambiguous character IMO

2:11 AM
@Deus Can you pin the CCCC?

Done.

Q: Stolen Computer

Amitabh GhoshA retail businessman had his computer stolen. The thief had to be Ruma, Jennifer, Djokovic, Tuhin, or Monisha. When questioned, each executive made three statements: Ruma: (a) I didn't take the computer. (b) I have never in my life stolen anything. (c) Tuhin did it. Jennifer: (a) I didn’t take...

Q: Karst - A variant of Cave

paramesisThis is a variant of Cave applied to a $3.4.6.4; 3.4^26; 4^4$ tiling. Rules Draw a single loop along the dashed lines that encloses some cells. Edges of this loop may not cross or share a vertex. Numbers indicate the number of connected cells from all lines of sight radiating from that cell, ...

3:11 AM
@2012rcampion Does adding a unicode RTL character fix the problem?

@boboquack It shouldn't. RTL characters only reverse the order IIRC.

3:40 AM
Alconja's CCCC confuses me. :)
GameN everyone

Hey Rubio. Glad to be doing my job.

@Deusovi and anyone else, thoughts - is this an answer or a comment? seems like comment to me, as while it raises a point (that's already been raised elsewhere) it doesn't actually ANSWER anything.

Yeah, I thought so too. I'll convert it to a comment.

it was borderline enough I didn't wanna flag it, hehe
There was a bounty on it - it apparently went unawarded
I thought bounties that were not explicitly assigned got assigned to the answer with most upvotes anyway, did I misunderstand that?

Awarded to a deleted answer perhaps?

3:52 AM
There are two deleted answers, neither of which got the bounty.
I dunno either.
The edit history explicitly says "bounty ended with no winning answer".

Does the timeline normally show where teh bounty is awarded? Because it doesn't for this question.

It usually shows it, yes

Going back to my CC for a moment. Re-reading, I think it needs a minor grammatical edit if someone can re-star the following version, which should hopefully clear up any remaining confusion:
CCCC: Object left behind is the work of imagination. And reality surrounds me. (8) [Note: some say I am pure energy]
(and in case it's not obvious, the [Note:...] is not part of the clue itself, but a clarification/qualification of sorts)

not that you have to answer but it would remove some confusion about the hint: is the hint's "I" the clue's "me", or the clue's solution?

...no comment (for now)

4:02 AM
Fair enough. :) i guess a better way to ask it would have been - is the clue valid and proper without the hint, as ultimately that's what I'm asking.

Yes. The clue is 100% valid and solvable without the hint.

ok thanks

4:17 AM

Yeah. Has the bounty, but not what it got awarded to (under the assumption that "non-winning" still should get awarded at 50%).
Actually looking at the timelines of other questions which have had bounties. The question doesn't include the award, only the answer timeline does... And none of the answer timelines (deleted or otherwise) on the question in question includes anything.
Actually looking deeper, it looks like that "non-winning bounty" text is not added on an auto-award either. So it seems like the system decided there was no valid recipient, which is odd...
Oh, wait.. unless it's the 24 hour grace period you have after the bounty ends. Does the bounty get removed before or after that point?

4:42 AM
This is what an auto-award looks like:

Agreed. Looks like "non-winning" is definitely the "bounty ended, but can't automatically award the bounty because there's no valid answers" message. So, not sure why the existing answer wasn't deemed worthy by the system.

@Alconja If the bounty is awarded, it is shown as 'bounty ended <username>; notice removed <username>'. Otherwise it is shown as 'bounty ended Community <>; notice removed Community <>
(from what I've seen)

Yeah, found examples of all the permutations. and it definitely looks like it decided there was no answer worthy of defaulting to.
Oh, "automatic bounty awards only apply to answers added after the bounty", and the only valid answer on the above question came before the bounty.

Well, that solves that mystery.. Guess I should get back to actual work

4:58 AM
^ pity, all that. alas, poor reputation, gone into the aether.

Especially the timing. Two bounties posted, one ended before the answer, one started after. Both go to the ether.

So Australia is not celebrating the birth of the late queen?
Pity, I wish we could celebrate every queen's birthday by not working

(Election vote counts to date @150 hours here)

@ffao Of course we do, just on random days depending on what state you're from

ffao, you did say that English isn't your native language? Could fool me.
(Native speakers can fool me too.)
... but i butted in solidarity with (dear @Gareth):
2 days ago, by Gareth McCaughan
Some nice person downvoted eight of my answers within a period of about a minute, an hour or so ago. That seems rather too quick to be the result of careful consideration of their merits :-). Anyone else received similar treatment?
I'm getting the same treatment at Music SE and am thinking of plopping a Meta question.

5:13 AM
It's easier to see if you mention one of those everyday object words that every native speaker seems to know but that don't come up in conversation often
Such as recently in contact, "reed" and "yeast"

@humn that's so ... weird.

And humor humour mirth is universal.
@Rubio , yeah, my answers are serious (at Music SE) and well tested. Seems I stepped in somebody's territory.
Maybe that's what Gareth's getting too.
To reiterate, though, ffao, English isn't my very first language either but it is the one I've nestled into. And it's the most absurd language in the world.
Maybe that's what makes it fun.

It's probably absurd because it got messed up by a bunch of intruders
Such as you and me

You speak truth! The history I understand is that one after another of illiterate invaders jumped in.
The mass of incorrectly borrowed words from other languages is crazy.
And then the loss of phonetic spelling just makes it sillier.
The Canterbury Tales, from hundreds of years ago, was phonetic!

I get slightly annoyed every time I open a menu and see the main course referred to as an "entrée"
When that literally means "entry"

5:27 AM
ok I give up, I can't find it. I know there is a site that you can send mathjax markup to as URL parameters and it spits back an SVG image - what site is this?

Now you're going French too, ffao? Saber! (yes, I know that isn't French)
(looking for it now too, Rubio)

People have used it here but it's ... well ... not exactly trivially searchable for hehe

Saber?

= Sweet! (i think)

I think it's not a good idea to saber my tea!

5:31 AM
stir it up

well that did not work.
I did find it though. :)

oh. closer.

(as soon as I said I was going to look it up i knew that i wouldn't do any better than you, Rubio)
But i did find:

clearly i'm not sure how to use it properly :)

5:34 AM
Stir it up little darling

mhhm

what's the special effect you're going for (or is it obvious)?
or is it art?!

Well, I found it now
A few minutes too late, it seems

there it is

5:37 AM
ffao(x)

That's a little better

That's more than good enough!
now my stereo is at disturb-the-neighbors volume. anyone dare to suggest a song?
the neighbors are an easy audience

Anyway. that would have been better if I'd been able to find and figure out how to use the site while it was still relevant, like 20 minutes back :)

Just what are you concocting, Rubio?

Not a thing, anymore.
I was just playing with your playing with humor, to make it into humour mirth humn

5:43 AM
Well worth pursuing!
(skip the second half)

Anyone knows a good Mathjax learning site?
It looks fun I must say!

This site is the one! Look up

I just use the reference site mainly, though there's a pretty great examples thread somewhere in SE

We've been graced by the developer of mathjax, Davide Cervone

May God rest his souls

5:46 AM
He and humn seemingly being the only ones that can understand any of the questions in the mathjax tag

I'm intrigued

@ffao , and @Rubio!

hardly. Most of the stuff in makes my eyes bug and my brain hurt

Sounds like fun to me
I'll be back later then

5:49 AM
I love mathjax so much that i'll go markdown instead just to miss it all the more.
@incesterror21 , when the time is right. In the meanwhile blow us away with more ascii.
(secret out: I learned TeX from its creator so i'm kinda full of myself)

I hate tex

It's beautiful in its own way.

Maybe just never met someone being overly enthusiatic about it

I had it out with Knuth about how it doesn't resemble functional syntax.
Do you prorgram, @incesterror21?

Is it right that this red canvas is too small?puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/37442/mathjax-exposed
@humn As far as I know I'm software dev

5:54 AM
If so, i'd easily understand your offense.
@incesterror21 , I did that on purpose (to quote Pee-Wee Herman)
The best thing about TeX is that it typesets.
The worst thing about every rendering system is that it's a crock.
But if it weren't, we'd be nowhere.

I'll send you my papers in a .txt file then. All in one line I think is best. Make sure to shape it up

You know my weakness. Which is a virtue.

I feel MathHax looks indeed kool. One could make very nice puzzles... Maaaybe I'll give it a shot soon

It's the only game in town.
Other than <pre>...</pre>

@Rubio True, I can see that now.
I could use <pre> and then Mathjax

6:03 AM
Live! Give!

@humn How come I can't find your name under friends or supporters at mathjax.org

Link?

Guess it's a secret. If this system weren't so anonymous I wouldn't even be here.

Yes, luckily we don't have to use our real names here

6:08 AM
If someone else would put down a video I would enjoy it up
Don't make me ping Jonathan Allan!
In the meanwhile:
That sets the bar pretty low. And sweet.

What a hit!
That just frikked my display! One adventure after another.

Glad to be of help

And nice breathing in the background.
-- signed, lucky enough to hear

Funny how "ear" is a very big part of "hear"

6:19 AM
"here this now" to quote:

Alright my little humningbird. I need to go again.
I'll see you next time. Have a nice day

Very much appreciated!

I do not know this language, but the music is soulful.
(Listen only if you like classical :) )

turn turn turn
And now in turn, @Techidiot, that's beautiful. The musician has a wonderful voice (and sweet accompaniment) and some mystery mousser got to his hair.

Yeah. The vocal's were awesome.

6:31 AM
Sometimes I wake up wondering who did my hair overnight. It's a mess. And that's a joke.

Hehe..

And this piece just got instrumental!

If you have a good treble and bass - you can go for this one

Ask my neighbo(u)rs

It won a grammy for the lyrics and music composition.(It's Hindi though)

6:34 AM
There's a secret to solving puzzles and understanding languages:
Pretend that they make sense.

Yeah. True.
There was a Summer of 69 Indian version as well.. I liked the story of it better than the vocals :p

On a good day I can translate between complete strangers, even though none of us speaks the same language. Just based on tone of voice. (Freebie)

Oh, I've seen you doing that ;)

@Techidiot , link?

6:38 AM
right on!

It's a cute old-school love story :D

I recognize it! (different version)

Oh really? Interesting..

This is so much fun.

Yes. It is :)
The later half is an awesome Hindi version of the song.

6:40 AM
(almost there)

The alap in there sounds too good.
Now that I am listening this one after ages, I am liking the vocals more than before :p
Quite common to happen with music

live and learn, nice link!

There are a couple of Indian versions of Game of Thrones theme.. Classical ones.
With a tabla, keyboard and a flute

Spill!

6:44 AM
Ay! The performers look home made but sound ever so exquisite
(That's how I want to come across too)

Yeah right
This guy is the latest singing sensation in India
This is a mashup of all his songs.

So smooth. And light.

Oh, the individuals songs are lovely.. He's just singing a couple of lines of every song.
Your neighbors might get confused as to who is this new DJ in town :p

laughter
and from another dimension:
(give it time, it gets going, in its own way, at 3:35)

Oh nice.
Changed the track completely .. Well done!

6:58 AM
you got it!
damn, there's a better version that has been expurgated from the web. Good for you for catching onto the second-best version.

There is another cool thing called Coke Studio, where they make music using this weird unknown instruments and the vocalists are too good.

only one response.... link?

Seeking for it.. Getting a good one from many good ones.. :)

Worth the wait
Et shu!

hey
Oh... you are hearing hindi songs today.

7:05 AM
Sorry I faded out yesterday (or two days ago?). I am struggling through a flu.

Noice
Get well soon.
Humn is always better than humn.

It's happened before and can again.

@humn Scrap that, check this
:p
No instruments used, just the vocals to create music
And get well soon!
@manshu I'm feeding a little bollywood here :p

Obviously. He need it. :p

All I need is music!
Remember? One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain.

7:10 AM
^ I second and third that :)

Yes. No physical pain.

There you go!

But some songs are so emotional that they cause the emotional pain (in my case)

manshu, you are a philosopher poet musician

@manshu Ditto. I am looking for a video of this. It's just a vocal I guess

I am a philosopher poet and a philosopher and a poet :p
I was also looking for another version of this. That must be 10 min long.
Couldn't find it.

Yeah

youtube !
The neighbs are loving this.

Neighbs must be dancing now :p

7:16 AM
This is another soulful..
Thanks @humn I'm loving it :p

This one is great. Every song of that movie is a masterpiece.

Thank you, puzzler/solver Techidiot!

@manshu Yeah.. My speakers are happy after a lonngggg time

My headphones are always happy :p Thanks to humn

(still catching up)

7:19 AM
You can go on with that song.. then..
This

slow down sparky!

Haha..

(i'm 3 songs behind)

The TSL playlist ;)

I don't know why I can relate to Naadaan Parindey, even though I had no struggle in my life. (yet) :p

7:22 AM
@manshu People easily relate to those songs also to every Arijit songs :p

Ahhhhhh

When I listen to Kun Faya - I feel like visiting Nizamuddin Darga and spend some days like that :p

I stopped listening to Bollywood music since the Munni Bai and other item song's apocalypse
This version of Fun Kaya Fun is great:

Lol. I stopped when Honey Singh appeared. But now that I look back, there were exceptions..

Mas musica!

7:25 AM
Oh wow! That looks interesting

yes. I still listen to song before 2012 or 2013 though.

(now 4 songs behind)

Okay, let humn get over it :D replaying one of them

haha. humn you have a lot of time to catch up.

@manshu Oh it's Boston. Nice
We used to perform these songs during college fest.

7:28 AM
Sometimes i feel like i've used up all that time. Enjoy my company while it lasts.
Oof.

Nice. I should have attended the fest this year. :p
@humn I hopes lasts a lot.

It just ain't fair. I've outlived so many who've I've cared for.

It is fair. It means that you are living a healthier life.
And that's very good

Not in this case. I've lived the least healthy life, and it just goes on beyond any justification.
It just ain't fair.
On the positive side, it sure does lead to one fun lesson after another.
It just ain't fair.

Life isn't justified or fair.

7:36 AM
Word from the wise.

Life is all about giving and receiving and having and sharing.

I'll catch up later. I have some morning things to do this afternoon.

See you on another planet manshu

7:41 AM
o/

Oh nice!

it cries out

Delicacy of vibrato!

7:47 AM
This video is not available.

Not again. I think it's open for a few countries only

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk

7:52 AM
That works!
Mesmerizing!

withdrawn

i'd prefer not to, actually

Are you lot being odd again?

this is Puzzling, after all

Truly puzzling. I was just feeling my age.

@humn try typing [puzzling.se]

If I could type... why I'd...
