@ArtOfCode About changing the debug messages: debug already changes the message format significantly, so I don’t see a reason not to change the messages to simplify them too.

@JF format I don't mind - but things like getWriteToken to get write token are what I'm talking about.
I used the former because it's the function name, not a description of what it's doing

Well Hi there
What's the point of that debug thing?

J F
@Cerbrus It allows easy customization of which messages are logged, and it’s been tested and used by lots of people, so it’s not going to break easily.

[ userscripts ] continuous-integration/travis-ci/pr success on 10cf918: The Travis CI build passed

@Ferrybig That sounds like a disadvantage to me.
If I want to debug FIRE, I don't want to see debug messages for AIM.
or vice versa

J F
localStorage.debug = "fire*" or localStorage.debug = "aim*"
@Cerbrus Yes, but not automatically

Besides, I've already got a setting in fire to toggle debug logs...
Which the PR is also completely ignoring, at first glance
Also, line 1879 would break.

J F
The old debug option has been superseded by this one.

2:59 PM
Yea, I'm not convinced.
To be blunt, I don't like it at all.

@angussidney How do the firefox translate add-ons work then?

Good point
Just had a look, Google translate API is part of google cloud platform, to which is free for 12 months then you have to pay

Last time I checked the Google Translate API was free up to a certain quota

Can you find a link? I can only get GCP results
Yandex is free for up to 10m chars per month
How many characters in the average spam post?

I have some data on that I think

9:56 PM
* 30 days * 100 per day * number of fire users (allow for 10 at any one time?)

Hrm crap this is words not characters
(I had minibatches by sentence length for my ML shenanigans)

Which means that spam posts have to be less than 33 chars long on average
We could cache the result on MS to decrease the number of requests by a factor of 10
