But there is a userscript by Henders which makes a sound effect whenever any post is reported, which is useful
@DavidPostill Yeah... a request has to be made from your browser to MS to smokey to SE to MS before it can make it into the MS DB, so I don't think that we can beat SE if you flagged it directly :)

And in the future, I intend to allow you to pick which sites it makes the sound for based on the suggestions by everyone here :)

@SmokeDetector So 2 spams ==> automatic question block. I have nuked the spammer.

@tripleee That could be good for some of the lighter sites I'm on. SU and SO don't need much help, from the looks of it.
The ones I started with today took 90 minutes to get nuked on startups

9:03 AM
@GypsySpellweaver you can set up a dedicated chat room for those sites and we can add that room to Smokey's configuration if you like as well

@tripleee That's probably going beyond me. Only been here (SE) for about 3 months. Still got lots to learn. Only discovered chat a few weeks ago, if that.

@Henders ... did I miss something?

9:17 AM
so for example chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/35068/money-se-smoke-detector gets the Smokey reports for Money

No. Sorry to question your omniscience.

@tripleee The only room I regularly go to is RootAccess. Went to some other room for a reason, neither room nor reason remains in my memory :/, then came here from RootAccess when I asked too many questions about the spam account I found in startups. "Post in there" I was told.
I'm guessing that SO and AU have enough firefighters that my help would be minimal. OTOH some of the smaller/beta sites I go to may not get much spam, but seem like they could use an ear to smokey.

@Henders I was more thinking this one:

What's the new queue sizes entitle us to? What's in the queue?

handle things faster, I'd guess

@JanDvorak Can you be a little more specific? :-)

@Cerbrus it expands the document below it and scrolls it to the right, with the result being that half of the blurred content is now off-screen

@GypsySpellweaver never use the test command with regexes; don't put the `` there.

9:47 AM
@Henders posts sit in the queue for less time, so we get quicker reports

Though always use a regex while blacklisting websites

@JanDvorak Eh, screenshot?

@ArtOfCode Because it only processes one at a time so if multiple spam posts come in at once you can store more in the queue?

Correction: it removes the sidebar

Also correction: it's 860px

@Henders not quite. We see every new and updated post, as you know. But there are ~100k of those every day, and we only have 10k 20k API requests per day - so we have to bundle multiple posts into a single API request. That's what the queues do - store posts until we have enough to warrant firing an API request.
With more quota, we don't have to bundle so many into each request, so we fire requests more frequently and time to report goes down.

@Henders basically, we have to review over 100 000 posts a day, but we only have a quota of 20 000 requests, which isn't enough to grab each post individually, so we have a 'queue' which the posts sit in, and when that queue gets to a certain number we make a request to get all of those posts from the SE API. Then we scan them.

ninja'd ;)

Nice, I'm with you now! Thanks for the explanation :)

Yeah, but I kept typing because it's always helpful to have more than one person explain it

@ArtOfCode would it be useful to upload the deleted posts with spam flags (from my dump) into Metasmoke (if they weren't reported already)? If so, is there an API to do so, or does this need to be developed? @ArtOfCode That's still almost a month old

For that call not to have caused a crash every time it runs, which is often, it must have been operating on a list. For the code further up that method, it must have been operating on a dict for it not to have crashed every time. Something is messing with the type.
