A: How did the woman fly through the wind screen?

Mr. KennedyAin't that just the magic of movies? I mean, obviously she was in shock and while momentarily distracted by her dashboard bobbleheads (a symbol of a safe, suburban lifestyle that has now been shattered) she was not paying attention to how heavy her foot was on t...

But how do you fly out like that? surely you would have to curl yourself to fly through the wind screen otherwise, you would smash yourself into the windscreen and your body would have been slammed against the steering wheel.

@natural extra bouncy seat springs?

But the van is being prpelled forward (liked that bit of humour there) and how are you goig to be propelled up when the van is going forward? even if there is seat springs?

@natural agreed - it contradicts physics, but such is the suspension of disbelief, no? ;)

If you look at the 2:56 point in the movie, it shows the car never even tipped, it stayed going forward and the woman was parallel to the ground.

4:57 AM
@natural again, I agree that the scene contradicts physics and likewise am surprised that the filmmakers didn't attempt a little more realism by lifting the tail of the van, but considering the expedited exposition regarding "rule breaking", I think the bottom line was, "does it adequately get the point across?"

They were thrown from the side doors, not from the windscreen.

@natural sure... my point was just that at high speeds, the unexpected happens. Same as in comedies, eh?

@Mr.Kennedy Yes...I do see where you are coming from, just say you were going at high speed, and you smashed into a car of that sort, your feet and legs would have been crushed in the impact of the crash and you would have been thrown forwards and slumped onto the dashboard, maybe your legs would have been torm from your body, but I have never heard of anyone flying ot of a windscreen like that.

@natural first of all - just to be clear, I deleted the video of the real car crash cuz I dislike real footage of people getting hurt. That said, I used to work as a news cameraman in the mid 90s when airbags were not as ubiquitous and have seen car accidents where the drivers were ejected from through the window.

They would have been crushed though from the impact woudn't they?

5:07 AM
That said, I totally agree that given the images from Zombiland, it makes no physical sense that the lady would have gotten ejected out of the vehicle as she did. It's just "movie magic"
Crushed by the windshield? No. Notice how windshields don't shatter like the windows in your house? They are specially designed to crack apart.

Yes I do notice that, but you would have been held down because your legs would have been crushed from the significant impact though?.

Oh, sure. Even without an airbag, I'd expect that a head on with no tail lift collision would render the driver a bloody mess on the steering wheel and dashboard. I was once in a head on motorcycle accident and the only reason I didn't slam into the bike's windshield is that I saw the T-bone coming and was able to jump from on the pegs, clear the windscreen and fly/roll over the stalled cars hood.

Now that is just pure skill.

Ha - more like adrenaline and luck ;) Here's an article on windshields you might like: taylorautoglass.com/windshields-strength

Yeah, I know about that :), I have never been in an accident myself but I have seen them ahppen and I have never seen that happen before.

5:17 AM
::knock on wood:: it was a drunk driver making an illegal U-turn across four yellow lines. He stopped because he noticed an oncoming bus in the other lane, but unfortunately he was right in the middle of mine. ...motorcycles are basically invisible. But enough about that - vote me up, bruh! ;)

@Mr.Kennedy @natural To make it clear I don't found the question much good either and I didn't voted on it at all. But people on SE are free to express there response in votes. I can understand the feeling about getting angry on downvote it's fine but it's always better to take the DV positively and try to give more efforts in positive direction.

7:31 AM
@AnkitSharma sure, sure - I can't speak for @natural but I didn't mean to appear "angry", I just don't understand the downvotes, especially the "drive-by" down voting w/no nice comment suggesting how the question could be improved. Seemed a decent enough question to me.

To me it is a kind of question where I don't vote ( up or down), it's more of my personal call and don't impose it on others, and I have heard about car accident where driver or a person sitting in back seat go flying breaking the front glass, maybe in way less dramatic order then the film
@Mr.Kennedy I was more hurt due to the use of word "bastard"
I can see the reasons of DV there, even when I didn't gave them personally
I hope you understand
