@BryanKrause Personally, as an active user, I have been digging a lot in oldies. I really enjoy answering long forgotten questions and I have earned 29 revival badges so far
Recently I've urged Remi,b to answer an oldie instead of close-voting one as a dupe
And he did and it got upvoted too, earning him a revival badge in the process
I do not specifically see a role in mods in digging them up and revealing them to the community, however, if that is what you are aiming at
@BryanKrause Ah it is here, sorry for not seeing it. Pinging folks is a good way to get their attention
To all - My Q&A received 2 downvotes. That's perfectly fine but if there's anything I can clarify please let me know
-
So please feel free to ping me here and share what you do not agree with if you like. I'd really love to join the mod team and if there are recommendations for me I'd like to hear about them.
I'm here for you you know. Here to help

@BryanKrause not entirely sure what context you mean so I'll approach this from a few angles. Like @AliceD, I like to dig up old questions that never received an answer (I've got 22 revival badges -- 21% of overall answers). I think all users should try to diminish our "unanswered" stats, because ultimately our goal should be to leave no question unanswered.
I don't think mods really need to serve any role in bringing up old questions for the sake of bringing them to other users' attention. Community bumps already take place, and curious new users as well as edits from new and current users dig up old questions basically daily.
I *do* however, believe that mods (as well as all users) should play a role in cleaning up posts from the past. Specifically, we can remove spam or abusive posts that were missed previously or remove cluttery obsolete comments. I think this could be done in a way that limits bumping questions to the homepage (i.e., simply deleting inappropriate comments vs. editing or adding new comments). Although I think mods should play some role in this process, ideally other users are putting in the time to flag such posts for mod attention. I think the site becomes easier to use (and a better source o
@AliceD I likewise got a negative vote, so I think someone came through and just hated on us :p.
As such, I also would like to encourage any member to ping me for discussion about any pros/cons concerning my bid for becoming a mod. Similarly, feel free to bring up any point of discussion not mentioned in the Q&A for us nominees to respond to here.

HOW ABOUT A COMMUNITY PROMOTION AD TO PROMOTE THE ELECTION?!

Thanks @Kenshin @AliceD @theforestecologist for your answers - I didn't ping anyone when I first asked because it was before most people had nominated (I'm all for fairness, including name sizes in links - ahem!! ;) ) and I hoped that at least the nominees would come by the moderator election chat at some point. Also note that I didn't have any particular answer in mind, and my personal view is that there can be both positive and negative consequences to bringing up the older questions.
I purposely kept it a bit vague to try to get a sense of where everyone's focus lies :)

@AliceD Thanks! I just saw it got enough upvotes to be used!
Hopefully it draws in more voters
If nothing else, the community ad stats provided will let us know how many people click on it. We'll at least know whether it's a useful approach for upping voter turnout :)

@theforestecologist I really like it. And I bet you're going to be the new mod too. Can I congratulate you beforehand :)
How did you make that image in the first place? It's awesome!

@AliceD haha just a tad bit premature, especially given your perfect candidate score! :p.
Good luck to the three of us! Can't say I'd be unhappy regardless how it turns out.
@AliceD. Regarding the picture: MS paint + MS Powerpoint ha! :p

9:08 PM
@theforestecologist yes that I do agree with. We all rock haha
@theforestecologist wow. I'm really glad you could manage to make that. Awesomeness and so Bio!

@theforestecologist @AliceD I was going to make attack ads to be used against everyone but I wasn't familiar enough with every candidate to do it so I didn't bother. Something along the lines of image macros with the following: "WRITES ANSWERS SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO WASTE PAPER WHEN I PRINT OUT BIOLOGY.SE. theforestecologist: BAD FOR FORESTS. BAD FOR ECOLOGY. BAD FOR BIOLOGY.SE."
"SAY NO TO THE RIGGED ECONOMY THAT PUTS REPUTATION IN THE HANDS OF THE MILLIONAIRES AND THE BILLIONAIRES. AliceD IS THE CANDIDATE OF THE TOP 1%! THE ELITES ARE DESTROYING OUR SE SITE BY EARNING RESPECT FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SITE. VOTE FOR SOMEONE WITH THE EXPERIENCE THAT REALLY MATTERS, VOTE FOR ResearchGate & Yahoo!Answers 2017!"
