It is a bit late into this new year, being that we're already in the second month, but we are now cycling the Community Promotion Ads for 2017!
What are Community Promotion Ads?
Community Promotion Ads are community-vetted advertisements that will show up on the main site, in the right sidebar....
@JACKB I think they both mean barbershop. See this dictionary entry for 床屋. The first point says it's from the edo-era barbershop. The second point says 床屋 is a common name for 理髪店

Is there a term for "junior" in Japanese, if the father and son have the same name? I only see the term referencing younger or subordinate. Can this question be migrated to the main site if it is beneficial to the community?
@chocolate Thank you for the detailed response to my previous posting.
How are times after noon expressed when speaking?
I assume that if it's obvious from context that it's after noon, then people will just say 5時.
But what if it's not obvious from context? My textbook (Japanese for Busy People I) suggests 午後5時, but I'm worried the textbook may be teaching how t...
「中」 is read 「なか」 in both sentences.
「Verb Phrase A + 中 + Verb Phrase B」
means:
"B happens while A is happening" or
"B happens in the environment/weather described by A"
This 「なか」 does not need a particle to follow, but if you must use a particle for some reason, it would be 「中で」.
@snailplane Can I be reinstated and only comment and ask questions on the chat site, and if deemed appropriate have the moderators place them on the main site?
I have noticed numerous examples of comments being posted instead of direct answers to questions and the answers posted were either upvoted or not voted. I was not given a warning and would like to contribute to the active learning that takes place here.

I've contacted you previously and left multiple comments addressed to you as well.

@JACKB Please try to avoid answering questions in the comments section. In this case, your comment was incorrect, but no one would be able to downvote it because it was posted as a comment rather than an answer. Let's keep answers in the answers section so they can be voted on by the community. — snailplane ♦2 days ago
I would like to have my restriction reconsidered in light of the previous comments that I have read and researched and found them to be of help in my studies, additionally, I notice that many comments contribute to the development of a good answer and are things that I consider when reading an answer. I have asked good questions as evidenced by continuing to earn points on a daily basis and I have deleted questions after conducting additional research.
I will only ask questions on this chat site unless the moderators feel that they can be more appropriately addressed on the main site.
@snailplane I did not receive a warning concerning my restriction and did not answer any questions after reading your comments. Rather, I deleted them as well as any questions that were not received positively by the community.
Oh. Well that's alright. I'm not really learning vocabulary right now, just trying to get the particles correct. Thanks a ton for your time! :)

You've got the particles right. Technically, you're saying "I went with my brother" rather than "Me and my brother went", but of course those mean pretty much the same thing :-)
How would you properly write something like "James Bond Museum" or "ABBA museum"? Is it just the katakana and then musuem or does it involve any particle like の?
