@sv. Oh ok.. I didn't knew that...
@Pandya @TheDestroyer @SwiftPushkar @SreeCharan Do you know any verse in scripture which says "Truth tests" ?..

2 hours later…
2:00 AM
@TheDestroyer Let him first complete simple translation.
@Tezz what? can you clarify bit?
@SreeCharan Hmm... I had experienced similar realization before!

2:18 AM
@Pandya verses like "Truth tests a person." / "Truth tests everyone" etc...

2:41 AM
@Tezz ok. I'll tell if find.

1 hour later…
3:42 AM
@Tezz - GM , I will try to find any quotes , or stories related to " "Truth tests everyone" etc...
" I think we will find that somewhere😊👍

3:54 AM
@SwiftPushkar Subha Prabhat ЁЯШАЁЯША
@SwiftPushkar Ok.... Thank You!..

4:20 AM
I am finding some gems(:sarcasm:) while going through some answers. This is one of them. Also those answers were not strongly opposed at that time.

@SreeCharan which answer you are talking about...?

4:48 AM
@Tezz what "truth"? Not speaking lie?
@Pandya not him. "her" :P

@TheDestroyer No, Truth = Knowledge sense...
@TheDestroyer @Pandya is using it in Sanskrit... In Sanskrit Him is female and Her is male... ЁЯШАЁЯША haha...

@Tezz Yeah. Mahakala episode of Skanda Purana. but that chapter doesn't look like true to me. Shiva as mendicant tests Mahakala and mahakala passes and becomes Shiva gana.

@TheDestroyer you mean that seems to be interpolation...
@TheDestroyer who is Mahakala there..

@Tezz рдХреЗрди ?
@Tezz Mahakala is famous Shiva gana.
It's his previous birth or birth before he becomes Shiva gana.

@TheDestroyer what do you mean by рдХреЗрди ? You mean Kena Upanishad...

4:56 AM
@Tezz ohh. Isn't рдХреЗрди means "how" in Sanskrit

@TheDestroyer yes, it is...

@Tezz In that story, finally Shiva reveals his true form and says that he passed the test of truth..

@Tezz - Thanks for nice edit , indianscriptures website is not working right now , i will add link in answer later on , so given the screenshot ЁЯШКЁЯСНЁЯСН

@TheDestroyer oh ok.. actually I was trying to answer your question... "which scripture give Authority to Indra..." ... As the Kaushitki Upanishad says "For Indra is the Truth" and the Aitreya Upanishad says "This self is called Idandra and for mystic reason they call it Indra as Gods love the mystic"..
@TheDestroyer so, I was trying to answer in that way... but now I think it is not possible to answer in this way...

@Tezz ok.

5:04 AM
@SwiftPushkar Ok..ЁЯШАЁЯША

5:23 AM
@Tezz I think a Mod deleted that answer or someone flagged that answer.
@Tezz That answer is still there. See the answer of user named Sunil.

6:00 AM
@TheDestroyer I didn't know. Thanks for pointing out. /cc @KrishnShweta

@Pandya Also, moonstar2001 is female.

@TheDestroyer Yes, that I noticed in this post.
@TheDestroyer Btw/Fyi my talk or conversation are independent of whether one is male or female :)

@AnkitSharma @Pandya - Web says Moderator means - рдордзреНрдпрд╕реНрде , Madhyastha

I don't like it as sabji but I like to have it as salad

@SwiftPushkar btw, Ishawar is closely related with Niyantrak. Though moderator may not result in Ishwara Haha /cc @AnkitSharma @KeshavSrinivasan

@SwiftPushkar that's mediator not moderator
@Pandya lol

6:32 AM
@AnkitSharma I think I call it ркмрлАркЯ
@AnkitSharma yes same for me. :)
@SreeCharan yes, I think got it.

@AnkitSharma @Pandya - We call this Turnip as "Shingada" use this during upavasa , тЮбgoogle.co.in/…

@SwiftPushkar oh! I understand beet are they different?

@Pandya - yes , рдмрд┐рдЯ & рд╢рд┐рдВрдЧреЬрд╛ both different , we can eat Beet raw , but in case of Turnip or Shingada , we have to make its flour by drying it & grinding , and then only we can eat that i.e.dehydration

@SwiftPushkar ok
@SwiftPushkar ok. I think I don't know much about рд╢рд▓рдЬрдо or рд╢рд┐рдВрдЧрдбрд╛

@SwiftPushkar We have a cook in room. Or I should say two @AnkitSharma?

@SwiftPushkar this is ^ Shingada
@Pandya beatroot and turnip are different.
@SwiftPushkar people eat shalgum as salad.

@AnkitSharma yes, I misunderstood but @SwiftPushkar has corrected me.

@AnkitSharma - oh ok , but translation gave be that meaning so.. seeing shingada first time ЁЯШЙ

6:48 AM
@SwiftPushkar I can cook to feed myself but I am not that big of a cook
@SwiftPushkar shingada is a differentm it's a fruit

@AnkitSharma I flagged one of my edited posts. It got deleted. I know that. But won't the rep change displayed in my page?

@SwiftPushkar dry sabji is my roommate's department

@AnkitSharma - okЁЯШК

@SreeCharan You should but not sure

no idea

7:25 AM
@SwiftPushkar You have answered my "shaka purusha" question. Did you find more about them in any of our scriptures?
@SwiftPushkar I was in a hurry that I thought some thing and I posted something and it conveyed to others as something. As it is there in panchang, it should be there in some scripture also.

7:56 AM
@SreeCharan - As i have already said after editing your question is more difficult now, looked in puranas, but this info.is more related to historyЁЯШК

:34671058 No pressure. Take your own time. Do you know where I found this question?

@SreeCharan - no , may be in , inscriptions topic while searching , temples ЁЯШЙ

After reading about an article about Gautami putra Satakarni. He is said as the salivahana and the starter of the saka.

@SreeCharan - The only evidence about shakas is stone inscriptions , but its unclear who exactly is saka kings e.g. There are two vikramadity's , and lot's of kings with similar names etc.Puranas won't mentioned them , except oneтЮб guess which?

@SwiftPushkar A movie is releasing on 12th this month about him. The crew is saying that he performed the rajasuya yaga after yudishtira and Vikramarka. The date he performed the yaga became a new beginning called "Yugaadi" meaning a beginning of a new yuga.

8:03 AM
@SreeCharan - ok ЁЯСН

@SwiftPushkar AFAIK Yudishtira and kalki are the saka purushas mentioned in the puranas.

@SreeCharan - Which puranas , I have gone through SB , VP , Vaman puran
@SreeCharan - can u guess which purana is mentioning about sakas?

@SwiftPushkar I mean in our scriptures. I think in Garuda purana, there is a mention of Kalki avatara but not sure about the saka. What is "guess which?"
@TheDestroyer@Tezz@Pandya@KeshavSrinivasan@SwiftPushkar Do you know who is the author of рдорд╣рд╛рд╕рдиреНрдХрд▓реНрдк ? What is the source of it?

@SreeCharan - no , is this a book or mantra or what?

^^^^ This will be my next question.
@SwiftPushkar Yes like the sankalpa we recite before any ritual in our household, Mahasankalpam is usually recited in pujas in temples, before doing yajnas and before performing kalyanam to the lord.

8:11 AM
@SreeCharan no. Feel free to ask with adding some description of Mahasankalp one may not know.

@Pandya Sure.

@SreeCharan - I think , Mahasankalp varies according to deity & region , so these are authored by temple priest's or sanskrit scholars ,or very high order personality like , Shakarachrya , or vaishnav aachrya etc also may be they are in smirites and brahmanas in veda.

@SwiftPushkar Sankalpam is different from mahasankalpam.

8:27 AM
@SreeCharan - seems like entire bhagvat purana is condensed in that mantra , ЁЯШК its nice thoughЁЯСНЁЯСН

@SwiftPushkar Did you listen to it?

@SreeCharan - No , not all , just 2 min audio , i am downloading right now , so video is bit slow, will listen it afterwardsЁЯШК
@SreeCharan - Yes , got it what is MahaSankalpa , i think those lines are recited during some grand yagnas , or grand openings or big projects , where entire Jambudweepa is praised or described as respected deity.

8:46 AM
@SwiftPushkar Yes. exactly.

@SreeCharan - in my above comment the sentence should be - The respected deity is described or praised as entire jambudweepa" ЁЯФБ

@SwiftPushkar I am confused in adding tags because everything is there in the mantra.

@SreeCharan I don't know the scriptural source for either the regular Sankalpam or the Mahasankalpam, but I've wondered about it for a long time. For instance I'm curious as to what the original version of the Sankalpam says after Bhagavad Agna - whether it's Sriman Narayana Prityartham or Bhagavad Kainkarya Rupam or what; see my question here:
6
Q: How do the different Hindu sects complete the line "Sri Bhagavat Agna"?

Keshav SrinivasanBefore you do any Hindu ritual, you're supposed to begin by saying the Sankalpam, a formulaic utterance in which you tell the gods where you're located in the universe, the time and date when you're performing the ritual, what ritual you'd like to do, the purpose of the ritual, etc. Hindus of all...

@KeshavSrinivasan I say shreemannarayana preethyartham during sandhyavandanam.
In the beginning I say, Sree mahavishno pravartamaanasya adya brahmanah. I do not say bauddhavatare

9:05 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan @SreeCharan - We here say "Shree Parameshwar preethyartham" , during various pujas .And occasionally replce the name with respected deity , with respected puja, like Navaratri , ganesh pratisthapana etc.

@SreeCharan What? But you're a Thenkalai. Thenkalais are supposed to say Bhagavad Kainkarya Rupam, because they believe that you shouldn't be so arrogant to think that you can ever please Sriman Narayana. So they just say Bhagavad Kainkarya Rupam which means "I am doing this as a form of service to Bhagavan", whether it gives him pleasure or not.
@SwiftPushkar Parameshwara Prityartham is the Advaita version of the Sankalpam.
@SreeCharan I don't say Bauddhavatare either. But I don't say "Mahavishno Pravartamanasya". I say "Mahapurushasya Vishnoragna Pravartamanasya"

@KeshavSrinivasan - ohh ok ЁЯШКЁЯСН , i didn't knew that , any way that mean most prists are advaitans in my stateЁЯША We say buddhavatre here & Mahapurushasya Vishnoragna Pravartamanasya" , Adya bramhmno dweetya parardhe Shree shweta varah kalpe..
vaivaswat manvantare kaliyuge kali pratham charane , jambudweepe Dandakaranya deshe ЁЯШК

@SwiftPushkar Oh, I say "Kali Yuge Prathame Pade", not "Pratham Charane".
@SwiftPushkar Also I've never heard "Dandakaranya Deshe". Usually in India what's chanted is "Jambudvipe Bharatavarshe Bharate Kande Sakapte Merokr Dakshine Parsve".

@KeshavSrinivasan - its ok both are compatible words , so no diff.at all Pade=charane , means division,

@SwiftPushkar Although in America we say "Krauncha Dvipe Aindra Kande Merokr Paschime Parsve".

9:18 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan - Dandakaranya covers Maharastra and some other states ,i think because of that may be...
@KeshavSrinivasan - " Sakapte Merokr Dakshine Parsve". no not heard this , but i will check againЁЯШК

@SwiftPushkar It refers to the fact that Bharata Varsha is to the South of Mount Meru.
@Tezz Do you know of a Buddhist text called the Alankarabuddha? Kumarila Bhatta quotes it in his Tantra Vartika.

@KeshavSrinivasan - oh yes , but Dandakaranya is referred as a region in BharatVarshe, in that not just as direction but specific region , which is famous for Shree Rama's stay during vanavasa.

@SreeCharan No, I don't know... I just saw your question... Nice question!...

@KeshavSrinivasan - Dandakaranya generally means region near Godawari river for us , but for rest the meaning is diff.

@SwiftPushkar Yeah, I'm familiar with the Dandaka forest. By the way, did you know that before the time of Rama, the Dandaka forest was ruled by the demon Shambara, and Indra fought Shambara there with Dasharatha's help?
@Tezz Here is the relevant passage from the Tantra Vartika:

9:28 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan No, I haven't heard about that text...

@KeshavSrinivasan what Kumarila is trying to show by quoting these... ?..

@Tezz Kumarila Bhatta is trying to show that even Buddhists admit that Buddha violated the rules of the Vedas.

@KeshavSrinivasan - Yes , i only know that it was very dense forest , infested by Rakshsas and rama killed most of daityas , with vaisistha rushi, so yes, but i will try to find that storyЁЯШКЁЯСНЁЯСН

@KeshavSrinivasan I don't think it does any harm to Buddhism...
@KeshavSrinivasan also read the Tevigga Sutta... sacred-texts.com/bud/dob/dob-13tx.htm

9:32 AM
@SwiftPushkar See my question here:
3
Q: Did Dasharatha fight against the same demon Shambara described in the Rig Veda?

Keshav SrinivasanIn the Ayodhya Kanda of the Ramayana, Kaikeyii's evil servant Manthara convinces Kaikeyii to exile Rama and make her son Bharata as king. Manthara reminds Kaikeyii that she had received two boons from Dasharatha, because she had saved Dasharatha's life in a war: O Queen! Once upon a time, wh...

'Concerning the true path and the false, Gotama. Various Brahmans, Gotama, teach various paths. The Addhariyâ Brahmans, the Tittiriyâ Brahmans, the Khandokâ Brahmans [the Khandavâ Brahmans], the Bavharigâ Brahmans{2}. Are all those saving paths? Are they all paths which will lead him, who acts according to them, into a state of union with Brahmâ?

@Tezz The point is not to do harm to Buddhism. Kumarila Bhatta is addressing the question of what texts should be considered Smriti and what texts should not be considered a scriptural authority. The Kumarila Bhatta is saying that texts authored by Buddha should not be considered as valid Smriti, because Buddha was a violator of the Vedas and thus his words should not be trusted.
@Tezz Kumarila Bhatta is basically trying to answer the question "If Manu and Buddha were both human beings, why should we follow the Manu Smriti but not Buddha's texts?"

@KeshavSrinivasan oh ok...

@KeshavSrinivasan - HaHa good question , i only remember this episode of fight in a TV serial"Ramayana" by Ramananda Sagar long time ago , so forgot most of the detailsЁЯШАЁЯСНЁЯСН

@KeshavSrinivasan so what does Kumarila Bhatta tell about Aagams?..

9:39 AM
@Tezz The Purva Mimamsa school was against Agamas. That was one of the main reasons that Yamunacharya had to write the Agama Pramanya.
@Tezz By the way, I find Kumarila Bhatta's quote from the Alankarabuddhi interesting. It sounds similar to Christianity, where they say "Jesus died for our sins."

@KeshavSrinivasan yes, I know it... I mean they do not consider Aagam as Smritis also... ?
@KeshavSrinivasan they specifically deal with every Aagams or they just tell about Aagam?..
@KeshavSrinivasan they specifically deal with every Aagams or they just tell about Aagam?..

@Tezz Yeah, they don't consider Agamas as Smriti.

@KeshavSrinivasan I think Alankarbuddha might be a text of recent Buddhism... ie. Vajrayana...

@Tezz Well, Kumarila Bhatta lived a pretty long time ago, and it's a text that contains a quote by Buddha.

@KeshavSrinivasan does Kumarila Bhatta somewhere hint/say that Buddha is incarnation of Lord Vishnu...?

9:45 AM
@Tezz Let me see if Kumarila Bhatta discusses different sets of Agamas individually.

@KeshavSrinivasan Ok...

@Tezz No, at least in the parts I've read he only speaks about Buddha negatively. In any case I'm not even sure if he calls Krishna an incarnation of Vishnu, haha. But he does refer to Krishna as a good person.

@KeshavSrinivasan - I am having a peculiar problem тЮб " In gita press version of Shreemad Bhagvatam , in mahatmya at end are given 3 passages from skanda purana , vaishnav kanda" So while writting a answer can i just say like-- this passage is from skanda purana
but described as mahatmya in Bhagvat purana, because i don't have link to mahatmya part of either SB or skanda purana

@KeshavSrinivasan haha...

@KeshavSrinivasan What? Krishna not an incarnation of Vishnu!!!! HA HA..

9:51 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan does he deals also with Mahavira just as he deals with Buddha... ?..

@Tezz - what u think? тмЖтмЖabt. my question

@SwiftPushkar I think you should say it is from Mahatmya of SB...

@Tezz - Yes , its a mahatmya of Bhagvat purana from skanda purana (Vaishnava kanda) , but there are no links available for both , either mahatmya part of SB or Bhagvat mahatmya (which is in SB) from Skanda purana, so what Should i give as a reference 1) SB or 2)skanda purana

@SreeCharan Kumarila Bhatta may not have even believed in the concept of Avatara. Mimamsakas were weird.
@Tezz He definitely discusses Jainism, but I'm not sure if he discusses Mahavira.
@Tezz I just found one place where Kumarila Bhatta explicitly rejects both Pancharatra Agamas and Shaiva Agamas:

10:40 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan oh ok... Thank You for the passage...
@SwiftPushkar it is not necessary that you should give link to everything... you can simply say... it's from Mahatmyam part of SB...

@Tezz - ok , I am writting sanskrit Shlokas of Skanda Purana from SB , & will give link to Skanda purana if found ЁЯШКЁЯСНЁЯСНЁЯСН

@SwiftPushkar yes, Haha

@SwiftPushkar ok... which question are you answering... ?

10:57 AM

Q: Did Draupad─л cry when Arjuna brought Subhadr─Б home? What about Kau┼Ыaly─Б and Sumitra in Da┼Ыaratha's case?

sv.It must be a very odd feeling for the senior wives of Hindu kings when one fine day the king suddenly comes home with a new wife, who's mostly younger to his existing wives. I heard that Draupad─л cried when Arjuna was introducing Subhadr─Б to her. Is this true? How did Kau┼Ыaly─Б and Sumitra react...

@TheDestroyer @KeshavSrinivasan welcome @berserk

@TheDestroyer @KeshavSrinivasan Hi :3

@berserk It seems people are busy come later or wait. Best of Luck!

@SwiftPushkar I forgot to update those sites in resources answer. i knew those site from long time.

@TheDestroyer It is hard to find Sanskrit+Hindi versions. I was looking for Adi Shankaracharya' Bhshya on Brahma Sutras (Snskrit+Hindi) for about 2 months (discussed with @Tezz and @KeshavSrinivasan before but no one found it)

@TheDestroyer - ok , we will update answerЁЯУЭ

12:46 PM
@Pandya Oh ok... Nice findings ..
@berserk Hi... "I have no clue how I came here, literally"

You came here because you were destined to come here literally... 😀😀

@berserk and no one has free will ЁЯШАЁЯШЭ

@BhavinChhatrola wow! I've not seen you here before! Though I came across some of your good questions.

@TheDestroyer Keshav tells that Brahma Sutras say there is free will... but everything is destined as it will happen...
@Pandya you may know it as you have read Brahma Sutras...

@Tezz I think only realized souls have free will. Rest all don't.
@Tezz see what Keshav says

Keshav SrinivasanYes, Brahman definitely knows what choices we're going to make, because Brahman is the one that causes us to make those choices. But then how is it fair that we are punished for choices that Brahman caused us to make? It's because the choices that Brahman causes us to make now are based on the c...

@Tezz about"free will" in Brahma Sutra? I don't remember. I've to check.

12:55 PM
@TheDestroyer what Keshav told me is.. for eg.. if you want to drop a pen somewhere.. then you have freewill whether you will drop it or not.. but Brahman already knows whether you will drop it or not...

@Tezz Yeah. As Brahman knows, then it is not free will at absolute level and we may think it is free will.

@Pandya ok...
@TheDestroyer yes.. it is self contradictory... haha...ЁЯШАЁЯША

@Tezz "Free will" Paradox.

@Tezz Can you tell me which Aadhyay and Pada it is discussed in?

@Tezz I think only Iswara or fully aware Avatars have free will. But we call those actions as "Leela". haha..

1:00 PM
@Pandya read the conversations after and before this message:
May 19 '16 at 3:48, by Tezz
@KeshavSrinivasan then why do I collect sins when I kill a mosquito...? I am just Nimitta Karana for the predestined death of that mosquito at that time....

@Tezz hehe yeah true, I will say God bring me here :D
@TheDestroyer yeah :D

May 19 '16 at 3:57, by Tezz
@KeshavSrinivasan I mean are the letters we are typing here predestined to be typed?
@berserk hmm....
May 19 '16 at 3:58, by Keshav Srinivasan
@Tezz Yes, they are predestined to be typed. But we are still voluntarily choosing to type them.
@berserk btw... where do you live..?..

@Tezz @Pandya can we make this site graduated before Mahasivaratri? Feb 24?

@TheDestroyer I don't know....

@TheDestroyer We've to fulfill some criteria. And ultimately I think it depends upon SE CM who evaluate site.
@TheDestroyer thete may be some diplomacy also! /cc @AnkitSharma

1:08 PM
@Tezz Yeah. I know. But we can try.
@Tezz btw, I'm writing a song for Lord Shiva to sing it during Maha Sivaratri. Pure Sanskrit, like Sivoham Song. But i think i'm messing up Sanskrit Grammar.

I think @Rickross is trying his best to answer some questions.

@Tezz I am from Punjab.

@Pandya Yeah. I think we can easily reduce unanswered questions to 3 digits.

@TheDestroyer FYI before 2 days while visiting some unanswered questions, I found some (4-5) should be closed (as dupe or opinion base) and voted to close, they are now closed. This is also a considerable point. finding and closing such questions can increase % of answer. (tip)
@berserk Bhagavad-Gita is good for starting as beginner.

I attended BIVC sessions in my college time.

1:20 PM
BVIC?

BIVC - Bhaktivedanta Institute of Vedic Culture
They were related to ISKCON.

@berserk You can go with Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas for story type scripture

I know Ramayana and MAhabharata.

@berserk oh! yes, I know it.

Atleast the story they shown in tv shows.

1:25 PM
@berserk Good! Btw, you can find various translation and commentaries on BG at gitasupersite.iitk.ac.in/… as many believe ISKON translation is not good.

There are some points which I didn't understand. Like most of the time, good people defeated the bad person with tricks. Say how they defeated Duryodhana by breaking the rules of the match. Doesn't that make good person actually bad? And similar examples, like how they defeated Bhishma by tricking him to believe his son dies.

@berserk I recommend to go with any simple translation first and complete BG.

@Pandya Yeah. Saw that.
@Pandya I think "FYI" is generally used in negative sense.
@berserk Dharma changes with time. But truth remains the same.

@TheDestroyer oh! didn't know, thanks for pointing out. Btw, which should I use instead FYI?

btw guys I had strong faith in Hinduism before, but in few years, I became Atheist since I could not find the things I learned about the religion logical, so I hope I won't be offensive to you if I ask stuff which challenges the religion....

1:30 PM
@Pandya i think btw is good. I'm not so sure. @KeshavSrinivasan might help us.
@berserk No Problem. All our Acharyas such as Adishankara used logic only to defend Sanatana Dharma.

cool!

@berserk Don't worry, be nice, people here will help you to get back your faith and increase your level

ok great!
@TheDestroyer I don't know how that explains my question. Can you elaborate? Dharma = duty right? Can you explain in the same context like why they used trickery to beat them instead of being fair?
What is actually good and bad?

15
Q: What is Dharma according to the Bhagavad Gita?

NullPoi╨╕te╤ПWhat is Dharma according to the Bhagavad Gita? Are hymns and worship of God compulsory in the Bhagavad Gita ?

@berserk Dharma has no exact meaning in other languages. Closer one is Righteousness. But many times it also means duty.

1:38 PM
@TheDestroyer To be frank , I don't think so. Our stats are not so impressive
@Pandya O.o

@SwiftPushkar I think probably I first come to know you at:
7
Q: What is Dharma according to Veda or Upanishad?

PandyaI know that the question asked before What is dharma? but the question and answer shows what Dharma is according to Bhagavad Gita. I am interested in the explanation of Dharma according to shruti. So, I want ot know what is Dharma according to Veda & Upanishad. Upanishad constitutes of teaching ...

@berserk with Yuga, Dharma changes. We can even speak lies depending on situations though not speaking lies is greatest virtue. In Dwapara Yuga, as Rajas and Tamas were predominant, they used trickery to win war. I think a question is already asked on this site.

Q: Should Krishna be considered good or bad?

ArasuI have read the Mahabharata and it seems that unrighteous behaviour or adharma is followed by Krishna in many places, but most people do not care about Krishna's character/behaviour and righteousness, because he is a god. I know that Duryodhana and his colleagues should have been killed because o...

@AnkitSharma Agree. I think we may need at least 4-6 months.

@Pandya not sure, as if I compare it from our last 6 months stats-wise no big thing have been achieved. WE are on constant graph which might not be enough for graduation but only CM can know for sure.

In first point, he mentions: Dharma had to be upheld

What is Dharma basically in that context?
> Mahabharata war was fought by krishna alone, pandavas were just like pawns of chess
So we are basically robots? And if God is doing everything, that means we don't have to bear the sins after death?
And what is the point of all this if God is doing everything? Is he like toying with us? Is it some game for him for his entertainment maybe?
If cheating is valid, what is actually good or bad?

1:58 PM
@berserk God is doing everything and also nothing. This is the major point to understand and realized how the universe is working. i recommend you better to start BG.
@berserk it depends upon your intention. If your intention is to follow Dharma and supporting truth, then it is considered as good.

@Pandya If I start killing people with intention of free earth from over-population, will that be considered good too?
How can we validate an intention as good or bad?

@berserk isn't any other thing can we do better than killing? :P
Killing is not the solution to over-population at all.

> Gandhari(Duryodhan's mother) cursed krishna that his whole clan will be destroyed. Actually, this curse was the will of lord Krishna because he wanted to free the earth from too much burden of ksatriyas out of which his clan (Yadavas) were almost 56 crores.
This is what that guy had in his answer.
If God can do that, why can't we follow his footsteps? :P

You need to know the story of Parshurama
@berserk BG is not about war at all. You'll find the main preaching started from 2nd chapter.
@AnkitSharma yes, I think we need sufficient amount of active users.
@AnkitSharma kindly speaking we're missing:

Q: Do we have experts here?

Ankit SharmaDo we have experts here? I mean do we have theorists, historicists, or researchers of Hinduism here? Some professionals like pundits/etc. who have better knowledge of Hinduism. For community growth, that will be helpful.

@berserk kindly speaking I've never concentrated on Mahabharata. BG is the important.
@berserk :

Q: Core Messages of Ramayana and verses from Ramayana that one can refer, to enrich life in general

WeShallWhat makes Mahabharata appealing is that it's a great timeless wisdom hidden in a compelling narrative. Is there a similar theological dimension to Ramayana? What are some of the verses from Ramayana that one can refer to enrich life in general?

Q: What is the core message of the Bhagavad-g─лt─Б? What are some verses from Bhagavad-g─лt─Б that one can refer to, to enrich life in general?

sv.What is (or what are) the core message(s) of the Bhagavad-g─лt─Б? What are some verses from Bhagavad-g─лt─Б, that one can refer to, to enrich life in general? This question is inspired by Core messages of Ramayana and verses from Ramayana that one can refer to, to enrich life in general.

2:22 PM
@Pandya Can you tell me your experience after reading BG? Like what good things it brought to your life by adapting its writings? What you learned from it and how adapting that in your life made it better?
I asked many questions to the people who used to conduct BIVC sessions.
They even told me there are people who are in direct connection with Godhead.
That kinda sounds impossible, idk if that was true, but the person was nice so I can't say he was making things.
But I just can't understand all this. Also, the mythology related to it (basically Mahabharata) arises so many questions for me that I can't follow it without having my doubts cleared.
Even in sessions, they just keep saying mostly that God is everything. He is everywhere, he is controlling everything. You need to believe it to realize it.

@berserk no. I've not realized it yet. Though if you talk about me, my thoughts are based on Upanishads rather than BG. (As I 've read BG along with Upanishads).
@berserk your Mahabharata's confusion will not interfere in reading of BG.

@Pandya Yes, but I want to ask why shall I follow BG? What does it contain that will benefit me? Does it contain info that will actually show how Krishna is the true God, instead of just keep mentioning "Krishna is supreme"?

@berserk I do recommend reading scripture rather than relying on video or sessions. The main benefit is You'll get the source based on which they're explaining.
@berserk do you have BG? and which language do you prefer to read translation in Hindi or English?
@berserk you can read it according to your convenience or time. For e.g be half or quarter chapter in a day.

2:45 PM
I have BG.
@Pandya
I think it is in english. Been years since I opened it.

3:04 PM
@berserk which publication/author?
@Tezz which English translation of BG do you recommend?
@berserk you can try Gitapress Gorakhpur version.

3:47 PM
@Pandya I recommend simple verse to verse translation.. (and commentaries for some doubtful verses...)

@Tezz I mean translation by Gambhirananda, Shivananda etc.
For recommending beginners

4:41 PM
Anybody know abr MatchMaking hereЁЯСл

@SwiftPushkar You may find рд╡рд░-рдХрдиреНрдпрд╛ рдореЗрд▓рд╛рдкрдХ рдХреЛрд╖реНрдЯрдХ in рдкрдВрдЪрд╛рдВрдЧ. (It looks like you're planning to answer featured question). @Tezz may know very well.

@Pandya - HAHa :) No i am not planning to answer featured questios but i know basics , and everything is given in panchanga , so i thought this q. is pretty simple , but since nobody answerd and user given this IMP , answered , :)

@SwiftPushkar ok

@SwiftPushkar Did you marry? :P
ЁЯШБ

@TheDestroyer Btw, is it ok to use ":P" unlike "FYI"?

4:58 PM
@Pandya - if you have panchanga , can u pls Check whether i am missing something or not , in case if you know ..

@SwiftPushkar I've panchanga at home but I'm outside currently.

@Pandya - But this question is very broad , since i have given answer based on Panchanga which is of MH , the other Panchanga might be diff.Also remedies are diff.according to regions , custons & beliefs etc.
@Pandya - ok , ЁЯСНЁЯСН

@SwiftPushkar yes, it is ok to answer according to MH panchangam. Though you can specify something like "this may differ according to differentiate panchangam" in your answer.

@Pandya - yes , thanks ,still writing it , will update that , but op's main concern is which points to match & abt.doshas, IMO Dosha Question can't be answered here , it's authorised job of high prists , nobody is authorised to answer that.

@SwiftPushkar excellent answer! +1 yes Guna/mark system. Removing dosha may related to karmakanda.
@SwiftPushkar so, it looks like you're Jyotishi! :)

5:21 PM
@Pandya - no this was our family tradition , now we are not in that business since long , but this is just a general procedure , its very complex procedure , in which various detail parameters has to be considered, its not that simple , & need a expert person , off course one can just consult local joythishi ,in case a expert is not available.
i just know some basics in that :)
@Pandya - and yes , very thanks for encouragement ЁЯШАЁЯСНЁЯСНЁЯСНЁЯСН

@SwiftPushkar I was not talking at business angle. Yes, I appreciate you for conserving family tradition.

@Pandya Are they copy righted? How can we download it?

@SreeCharan - hii рдирдорд╕реНрддреЗ :) if you dont mind can I ask a question to you about "mahasankalpa"

@SwiftPushkar рдирдорд╕реНрддреЗ! Yeah. What is it? Why would I mind?

@SreeCharan I'm not sure about copyright status. Though they say opensource media. Haven't you found pdf link from archive.org/details/…?

5:31 PM
@SreeCharan - what I want to know is that , is this Mahasankalpa mantras limited to "shree vaishnavas" tradition , or this mantras are common all over India?

@SwiftPushkar It is common in every temple or yajna. Actually, in the video I linked to the question, the Pandit reciting the mantra is a smarta sect brahmin(I guess).

@SreeCharan - By the way , one interesting thing is all the names , places, people and described in those mantras are found in various puranas , seems like what i told u earlier , the people , places etc from puranas . are condensed in those mantras?

Thanks @Pandya. I didn't scroll down earlier. I have now seen.

ok

@SreeCharan - ok , so I think its same all over :) why I asked this is , I have checked abt.that in books but havent found anything so just asked .. but pls. do not take it in wrong way , just curious

5:37 PM
@SwiftPushkar yes. I am curious about the answer. It has prophecies too. (I don't know but a wild guess) that any upanishad may have it.
@SwiftPushkar No problem.
@PonmariSubramanian Vakula Devi gave her hair to Srinivasa when Srinivasa was hit. So, he likes everyone who gives hair. — The Destroyer Mar 12 '16 at 14:44
@TheDestroyer Nila devi gave hair to Lord Srinivasa.

- today downloaded skanda purana 20 vol. this is link
@Pandya @SreeCharan - n all bye , GN , will sleep now :)

@SwiftPushkar "Kayen vacha smaranendriyerva..."

8:59 PM
@sv. - Nice edit suggestion ЁЯШКЁЯСНЁЯСНЁЯСН actually written the answer in hurry , so not revised the answer , but now it's almost corrected .Thanks again .

9:51 PM
@sv. - ЁЯШКЁЯСНЁЯСН

sv.
@SwiftPushkar Ok, n.p. and btw, better to write answers using PC. I think lot of users here are writing lengthy answers also using tablets and they don't come out well. :)

10:12 PM
@sv. - Yes , list revised ЁЯШК

10:41 PM
@sv. Yes, I write almost all my questions and answers on my iPad. And that too I don't write in the question or answer field. Instead I write in the Notes app of my iPad, and then I copy and paste it into the site. That's because I've had way too my instances I've had way to many instances when text has been lost due to browser crashes and page refreshes.
@sv. By the way, so you like my story idea #5? In any case, I want to illustrate more Duryodhana's stubbornness, I don't want to make it so he secretly knows the truth about Krishna. Instead I want him to be in denial. By the way, Duryodhana wouldn't be sending the spy to find out what Krishna's powers are. Duryodhana wants to know how Krishna is managing to fool everyone. He wants to know whether Krishna is bribing Rishis or what.

11:00 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan - Writing answers on notepad before is really good idea & lot's of times the crash or text lost or mistakes happened with me alsoЁЯША but unfortunately i can't Write sanskrit in notepad , so i do type directly in answer section.ЁЯСНЁЯСН

11:19 PM
@SwiftPushkar Yeah, the only problem for me in writing answers in the Notepad is that it's hard to put links and images. There is a website called stackedit.io where you can type in the same interface as Stackexchange sites and save your drafts, but I found that it's finicky and I've lost text using that method as well.
@Tezz @Pandya You two may be interested in this quote from a Mimamsa work called the Prapancha Hridaya, listing various pre-Shankara Mimamsa and Vedanta commentators:
"The Mimamsa Shastra is contained in a text of 20 chapters. Of these, the first 16 chapters constitute the Purva Mimamsa. In this Mimamsa Shastra, the Purvakanda deals on issues of Dharma, and is compiled by Jaimini. The last 4 chapters constitute the Uttara Kanda or the Uttara Mimamsa and are compiled by Vyasa for dealing with the nature of Brahman. On this Mimamsa Shastra of 20 chapters, Bodhayana wrote a Bhashya that bore t
@Tezz @Pandya It says 20 chapters because there's the 12 chapters of the Purva Mimamsa Sutras, the 4 chapters of the now-lost Devata Kanda Strsaa, and the four chapters of the Brahma Sutras.
@Tezz It's unfortunate that they were so many commentators on the Devata Kanda Sutras - Upavarsha, Baudhayana, Devasami, Bhavadasa, and Sankarshana - and yet we don't even have the text of the Devata Kanda Sutras, let alone any of those commentaries.
