Q: Is This Question On-Topic

Xandar The ZenonI don't really want to make a decision on it, although it it is probably not on topic. What do you think? The year is 2055, you are an advanced, self-aware, kind robot who only wants to do good. You were hacked into and forced to kill an entire race, powerless to stop, you blame yourself afte...

I spend hours on a blog post
I write just one answer more
And it’s quiet in chat
I never liked the quiet before
I skim the featured tab each morning
A sign of the rep that's in store
And I smile
That never used to happen before

woof
@FutureHistorian On one hand. people forget Coimbature. On the other I like it too much to get nuked.
Also, does pakistan even have 15 cities worth nuking? ;p

2:35 PM
Man...who knew an objective look at ethics could get me downvotes...
oh wait. Everyone knew that. :D
@HDE226868 Poetic

4:14 PM
@AndreiROM How'd you get bert and ernie?

4:29 PM
@James And stolen/modified from Hamilton.

@HDE226868 Nicely done

This is regrettably not the first time I've done so. But it does provide a generous source for parody material.

Well have a star either way.

Awww, thanks.

:D

4:47 PM
Back.
And yes, it got nuked.
>:)
@JourneymanGeek

@FutureHistorian Did you ever ask that question we were talking about?

Which one?
The one about the nuclear targets in India and Pakistan?

...something about china...I think...was that you?

Or the one about the hypothetical political parties in a post-PRC China?

Yeah that's the one

4:52 PM
Meh.
I already did some research, since I need to stop being lazy.

...I'm bored at work today.

Well, how much in terms of the long-term effects of the Great Pacific War am I looking at?
If anyone has an AH.com account?

Can't see it from work... :/

Oh.
Noted.
Well, brief summary, a pro-China leadership in the Philippines is hit by a military coup d'etat sponsored by the CIA, it fails, and US Navy vs PLA Navy skirmish breaks out near the Spratly Islands.

That sounds like a bad and not wholly unrealistic scenario...

5:00 PM
The Americans invade the Philippines, China responds with a declaration of war, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia join the Americans, followed by North Korea with the Chinese, then South Korea and Japan join in, Taiwan is forced into the war after missile strikes against Taipei set the stage for the First Battle of Taipei, Taiwan falls, while the KPA is stopped short of Seoul, Thailand joins China, Malaysia fights Thailand, Vietnam is attacked by PLA forces, and that is not all......
India and Pakistan fight in Kashmir and Lahore (India joins the States and Pakistan China), North Korea falls apart, China threatens to nuke Korea, Japan and North America, India and Pakistan nuke each other and after a month, the PRC falls as PLA forces coup Xi Jingping's government and the CPC.
War is over, but millions are dead in the Indian subcontinent alone, and refugees begin to make things a problem, and 700,000 are dead in the conventional confrontation.
Any opinions on it?

5:17 PM
From a cursory glance it makes sense to me. The details would be complicated to work out...

Exactly.
Most of the fighting was air and naval, while there was conventional fighting on the ground.
:P
Well, if discounting the nuclear hellstorm in India and Pakistan, 700,000 are dead.
Counting the firestorm though, means adding 21.061 million to the body count.
And that is not even counting the post-War deaths from the fallout.
And radiation.
And refugees.

...that would suck

Agreed.
But what are the long-term side effects from 2025 (when the conflict occurs) to 2100?
Since truth be told: the war lasted a month.
Well, technically, one month, one week and two days.
So.........

Yeah nukes are pretty ridiculous.

The nuclear firestorm in India and Pakistan was hours before the conflict ended.
So...
Anyway, from immediately after the conflict ends to the end of the century, what am I looking at?
NOTE: For reference, 120 30 to 50 kt strategic warheads went off in total.
And a still undecided number of tactical warheads.

5:25 PM
@James what a strange game... the only way to win is not to play ;)

#1980sMovieReferences.
So, with all seriousness.
What am I looking at in the long-term from 2025 to 2100?

but of course ;p

...nothing good.

Specifics would be nice.

lol

5:26 PM
But I can see the point.
Either way, I am going to ask in the site.

Well Pakistan and India would be irradiated wastelands

eh, they're big countries
even if you hit those places, you literally just hit the fringes

120 nukes is a lot of nukes. Even if not directly hit...

bangalore and hydrabad are more important than my beloved cbe anyway ;p

Well, I did use these targets with 27 warheads in total:
Lahore
Mumbai
New Delhi
Karachi
Islambaad
Peshawar
Kolkatta
Chenai
Faisalabad
Hyderabad
Jaipur
Pune
Agra
Kanpur
Faridabad
Coimbatore
Lucknow
Oh, these are 17 cities, and 2 more detonated in New Delhi, 3 in Karachi and 5 in Islambaad.
So.............
These are 27 out of 120 warheads.
The remainder hit military targets.

5:30 PM
ah. Bangalore's kinda the IT hub. Alas, inda's supply of blenders would dry up if you hit cbe

>:)
Make that 28, then.
Alright.
Bangalore has been added as an 18th major city to be hit.

Never liked em anyway

5:45 PM
Alright.
The question is up.

Q: What would be the long-term implications of the Great Pacific War I created from the immediate aftermath until the end of the 21st Century?

Future HistorianWell, I created this military conflict called the Great Pacific War as a scenario to simulate a hypothetical direct confrontation between the States and China, and before I ask my main question, I will add this link: The Great Pacific War Timeline on AH.com If that fails, then fine. Brief summ...

So, anyone have a good answer for this one?
Or am I going to have to wait a while?
:/

I'm afraid the link requires a login to the alternate history website :/

An account, in other words.
But calm down, I gave a summary in there.
I knew some would be unable to access the link. So I gave a brief summary.
Er..........
Houston, we have a problem here!

6:18 PM
Oh oh......

@James huh?

Hello, @dot_Sp0T.

6:51 PM
Hey

Did you see the question?

I've just come online into this chat, please enlighten me :)

This one.
:P

Yes, I VTC'd it
It has potential, but to ask about long-term implications is an automatic too broad in my book; Why not take some time to make a list of things that are important/essential for you to know and then make it a series of question, each asking about one of these things and the likelyhood of it happening/it's implications in a defined set of changes
?

Alright.

6:59 PM
On another note: We're currently ranking 13th in the winterbash2016 with some 1.5k hats.. GET GOING YOU SLACKERS!

So?
Is the question going to be closed or is it fixed?

7:18 PM
So?
@dot_Sp0T?
Fixed it.
