To our working and bf'ing moms:
You are doing an amazing job, girls!

@Stephie that's brilliant. But sadly rings true ...

@RoryAlsop don't I know it...

@Stephie here in the UK there is still a huge stigma associated with breastfeeding, and while many places are trying to get with the times and provide facilities, there are still shops, restaurants etc that force feeding mothers to leave, or sit in the toilets etc
it's shocking that this still happens

In Germany, cafés etc. are more relaxed, but offices.... One of the drawbacks of long maternal leaves. Especially in male-dominant fields.

@Stephie so no facilities at all, because they assume nursing mothers will just not be in the office?

@RoryAlsop there were none a few years ago. In theory, I could have used a meeting room. But a) many had glass walls and b) were booked all the time.

not ideal!

Ironically, I could have claimed extra free time to pump or nurse.
And there wasn't even a "convenient" storage room nearby. Which left - surprise, surprise! - the toilet.
And I dared to bf way beyond the six months mark...
Very much a <cough, cough> subject.
Hm.... There will be serious remodelling at my workplace within the next year or so. Perhaps I could suggest a Lactation Lounge? If there's space for a kicker table....

@Stephie My workplace (large corporation) has a discreetly labeled "mother's room", which is our lactation lounge. One of my co-workers was told by somebody else that this was the place new moms got to go nap, which she thought was a really nice thing for the Company to provide... when I (months later) explained what it was actually for, she felt rather silly.

@Erica sheesh! Why are we all so queasy about this subject. Cute story!
