@nitsua60 Yes. :D All measurements are chebyshev distance. In an 8x8 square room, you could walk from one corner to any other corner in 8 "squares" of movement. An 8' diameter explosion would fill the room to every corner.
@doppelgreener Gotcha. 5e, on the other hand, claims to have spheres, but still you can walk from one corner of that room to another in 8 squares' movement.
Though they do present "every-other" diagonal counting as a variant. I can get behind 1.5 = sqrt{2}
I'd really like to learn how to play pen-and-paper RPGs. I know that it takes a few players to actually sit down and play, but I'm not at all sure where to find more gamers.
How do I find existing groups to join? Or, are there any resources online that may help me find existing RPG groups or pl...
Hmmm. There's a lot of good advice on the site about finding a group, but if you have a group and you're only looking for a DM, it's a very different situation.
yeah i think id be able to find one as there are community events in my area every week for DnD meet ups i just havnt gotin around to going there and posting flyer or asking around
I know there's a lot of stuff floating around the internet that suggests DMing is some mystical art that you can only learn by having been alive in the 80s, but it's actually pretty easy.

You can always be better at it, but as long as everyone's there to have fun it's hard to go too far wrong.
The other thing worth keeping in mind is that there's a big difference between a group of friends playing an RPG and an RPG group some of whom are friends.
Personally, I'd prefer to be playing with people I know and like, even if it means that everyone's still learning.
Also, (sorry to keep going on) it's not a bad thing if everyone is at the same level of expertise. If one person in the group knows the rules backwards and forwards, and everyone else is just learning them, it's likely to be a little frustrating for that one guy.
