C'mon guys, is everyone so busy that they can't even post a message here?

@another'Homosapien' This is kind of a hen and egg problem.
But besides this, at least I am pretty busy right now.

In your opinion, at what price point would full genome sequencing be worth it ? (In term of personal benefit, to one's health for example)

@ElianeB. What's your reason to do this?

Curiosity after checking the price (now about 900$). Still seems a bit too expensive to me, if one's healthy.

Is this real sequencing for this price? And which coverage of the genomes do you get for this?
900$ is not much - it is not long ago that 10.000 - 50.000 was "cheap".

30x with illumina 150bp paired-end
but the effective benefit seems negligible. Maybe risks for various diseases

30x is ok for this price.
The benefit is questionable in my opinion, because we don't know the effect of lots of SNPs. Or how they influence each other. The same is true for the SNP analysis that companie like 23andme offer.

@WYSIWYG I was wondering why aren't questions like this considered trivial?
> How long could a fish survive in milk?

5:27 PM
@SanjuktaGhosh I think it is a stupid question but I want the community to close it. You can cast a close vote.

5:42 PM
It may not be trivial but it is not really useful. Who would want to put fishes in milk?!!

@WYSIWYG I didn't want to say 'stupid'. It sounds a little rude, though that's what I felt. Well under what reason can I flag it? I went down till 'Off topic' but couldn't find anything suitable.

6:08 PM
I finally flagged it asking for moderators' attention.
@WYSIWYG Could I have flagged it differently?

6:45 PM
No, I'm with you, it seems pretty stupid

@SanjuktaGhosh with you on the useless part; you could have VTC as homework due to little (no) research effort
