@Passerby Oh, good! :)
I'm too excited about the cowbell question now to even contain myself! ;)
OMG!!! I got 5th place out of 10th on the challenge!! How exciting!! This must mean that I am 50% Awesome!! Woohoo!!
This means that you're 100% Awesome, @AnkitSharma!!! :))

which probably makes me NaN% awesome for not participating

Nope. You're 100% awesome for coming in here and hanging out with us sometimes! See how easy it is to be awesome!!
This challenge was actually super fun because there were more than a few of us having a friendly competition over it :)
...and I got Ankit to appreciate a few Tim Burton films. Bonus!
I highly doubt that I will get him to appreciate Gene Wilder films, though :(

12:32 AM
@Ixrec 0 is a real number. it would never be NaN >:O

true. Nan would only happen if 0 people participated.

How did my question get one more upvote than yours Steelerfan? Must have been a Cowboys fan...
Is this the most participated contest so far?

@Passerby Haha! Must have been a Cowboys fan...or a Ravens fan <glares at Mike> ;)

i doubt he would upvote mine but not yours

One never knows what it would take to get an upvote from Mike ;)
I mean, this is serious business. I know Napoleon personally and he hasn't even accepted most of the answers that I give him on his questions. This is serious, people! ;O)

12:39 AM
i never upvote anything. encourages people to get uppity

Hehe!
@Passerby Hmmmm...good question. I wouldn't even know how to get that information, but, it would be interesting to know.
Hey...wait a minute. I asked a question for the Wes Craven challenge and it wasn't even counted in the challenge! Dammit, Napoleon!

There was a Wes Craven challenge?

Yes! Last year right after he died. I asked a Dracula 2000 question.

1:13 AM
Oh right

@Passerby Maybe the most intentionally participated at least. There's probably been more activity on a few of the release-tied challenges, but it's hard to judge if the questions there were intentionally asked because of the challenge or as natural questions for a new release.
@steelerfan Wut?
@steelerfan Oh, yeah, I noticed that. Executive Producer, though, neither writing nor directing credit.
Basically whenever someone "presents" a film, you know they don't really have much to do with it at all. ;-)

1:48 AM
@NapoleonWilson Uhuh
So...when the movie is presented as "Wes Craven presents". It wouldn't count?
Argh! ;)
I like how all of these rules come out after the fact ;)
@AnkitSharma I don't think that Napoleon should be in charge of the ToW challenges anymore ;)
He's just making up rules as he goes along to deliberately screw me because he feels like it :P

I found it earlier, but on mobile
and i didn't see that it had the source in it
i thought it was an quote but without where it came from. it was from a phone call they had.
the rest i added on after dbugger found the link again

Ahhh...gotcha. Great fine, nonetheless!

honestly, in-universe, he probably only made the dinosaur cause one of the neighborhood kids told him to. It would fit in with the story and his character.

Q: Hilarious 1960s TV commercial about a man at dinner getting shocked

Q: Topic Challenge: Wes Craven and his films [completed]

Napoleon WilsonLast sunday saw the death of Wes Craven, who looked back upon more than 4 decades of contributing to the shape of the horror and thriller genres, from creating iconic figures like Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger to spearheading the 90s revival of teen slashers with the Scream series. So ...

> ...any kind of question about Wes Craven and the films written or directed by him.
@AJ Populist.

A J
@NapoleonWilson yeah correct. I later realized it, but couldn't edit.
There is another message I left for you in the other room.

I know.

A J
@NapoleonWilson So, what should have been done?

@AnkitSharma Awwww. Thanks, buddy :)
@NapoleonWilson Yes, I know...I was totally kidding.

@steelerfan I know, I still wanted to clarify it. ;-)

12:01 PM
@NapoleonWilson Yeah, I figured...

@AJ I flagged it as offensive. There could have been a chance the "stupid gringo white folk" part was somehow an elaboratre quote from the movie (which I haven't seen), but it wasn't marked as such and the question didn't really sound like it could be. Without that part it was a maybe comment at best, but with it it was definitely offensive.

@AnkitSharma I know, right? At least someone has sympathy for me ;)

@NapoleonWilson Awww. Don't cry, babe. Here, have a hug: Gives great big hug :)

@steelerfan Awww, thank you. ;-)

user36705This scene from "The Lady Vanishes (1938)" was so realistic, This movie is made in 1930's. So How Alfred Hitchcock achieve this shot ?

@NapoleonWilson Probably not :'(

@steelerfan Yeah, I'm sure you'd never do so (at least when you ever win the challenge, muahahaha!) ;-P
@steelerfan Oh, why?

@NapoleonWilson Haha! Well played, sir!

Q: Was Barbara Kean always intended to be like this?

Ankit SharmaIn Gotham season 2, it was shown that Was that always intended to be like this from the beginning or was it changed later on, due to the bad reception of her character or not getting access to a few characters?

A J
@steelerfan Actually I was just kidding.

2:43 PM
@MAFIA36790 don't got the answer yet

user116211
@AnkitSharma I don't think Barbara is bad or some psycho or sort of that.

user116211
She helped James Gordon to let him know about The Philosopher who actually was Hugo Strange.

user116211
In the middle, she got brainwashed and became a bit of psycho under Galavan.

user116211
But I would be eager to know how they got the idea or under what circumstances, they made the character Barbara to evolve like that.

user116211
But in the end, I think, she is good.

user116211
2:55 PM
Also, did you watch the episode where Gordon dreamt of Barbara where a butterfly came out of her mouth?

@AJ No worries. I know that you're kidding :)

@Randal'Thor You're back in game.

@MAFIA36790 Yay!
@Randal'Thor Watched half of a Doctor Who episode last night before I got busy at work...just for you! :)

@AJ Game?
@steelerfan Yay! :-D Which one?

A J
@Randal'Thor On puzzling.
Just saw your answer to a riddle.

3:04 PM
@AJ Oh yeah. I'm finally the top user again :-D

@Randal'Thor The first one that I never finished last time. .episode 1 with Eccleston called "Rose"

@AJ I was much more pleased with this answer to an interesting question than this solution of a simple riddle (which I assume is what you're referring to).

user116211
@AnkitSharma: They have also portrayed Azrael as a villain; but AFAIR, he was a hero who worked with Batman.

A J
@Randal'Thor I saw both of them. First one is good, though later one is pretty straightforward.

user116211
I'm watching the episode, where Azrael remembers everything of being Theo Galavan and now is going to kill Son of the Gotham, Bruce Wayne.

3:08 PM
@steelerfan Oh, that one. Not particularly interesting IMO, but of course significant because it was the first Doctor Who TV episode for 20 years.

@Randal'Thor Yeah, I noticed how he looked in the mirror and said something about how he looked this time, and how he liked it...except his ears ;)
I just want to know who Rose was looking for at the beginning of the episode...who in the heck was Wilson?
She kept calling for someone named Wilson over and over again.

@steelerfan Yes! At the time, the idea was that Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor) had regenerated from Paul McGann (the Eighth Doctor), but later on they decided to stick John Hurt in between as the War or Eight-and-a-Halfth Doctor.
(yes, DW is weird)

@Randal'Thor Whoa...hold on. John Hurt was a Doctor? WUT?

@steelerfan Nobody important, I think. Just somebody she knew who worked in the same shop.
Oh, according to the transcript, "A door with a large danger of electric shock sign also claims to be the office of H P Wilson, CEO."

user116211
I think Oswald Cobblepot and Butch are gonna save the day!!

3:15 PM
@Randal'Thor Ahhh...gotcha! I was thinking of asking that as a question, but you just answered it :)

@steelerfan That might actually be one of the 2 or so that I ever saw.
@steelerfan Hmpf.

@NapoleonWilson Oh, really? Did you like it? I like them. They're entertaining at least. I'm not a die hard like Rand, Mike or Ixrec, but I like the ones that I have seen.

@steelerfan I don't know. I honestly don't know at all anymore what happened there. That must have been about 10 years ago.

@NapoleonWilson Oh, God. What did I say? :'(

I remember something with people being in a church. But that might have been another episode. I also saw the episode with the gas mask children, I think, or at least parts of it.
@steelerfan Nothing, don't worry. It's just that you were nearly asking a question and now don't.

3:20 PM
@NapoleonWilson Well, I would have asked it over at sf/f anyways ;)

@steelerfan Yes ... well, sort of. He only ever appeared in the 50th anniversary special, and he was a sort of non-Doctor Doctor because of what he did, except he sort of became the Doctor again in the end. It's complicated.

@steelerfan WUUUT?!
Hmpf!

And it's really not that interesting of a question to begin with.

@NapoleonWilson People in a church with giant bat-like creatures flapping around outside?

@steelerfan Ok, if you say so.
@Randal'Thor Maybe.

3:22 PM
@NapoleonWilson Awww. I'm sorry. My heart belongs to you, but Doctor Who questions belong over there ;)

@steelerfan Good girl ;-)

@steelerfan They don't! And what does your heart have to do with it? But okay.

I need to get more reputation over there, anyways :P

@steelerfan I thought you already had millions of reputation because people love David Bowie and treat rep like currency for expressing that love?

@NapoleonWilson Calm yourself, Napoleon. Gheez! Fine, I retract my heart comment!

user116211
3:24 PM
Aha! Selina is in Indian Hill!

@steelerfan Awww, sorry. Don't retract it, I was being facetious. :'(

@NapoleonWilson Yeah, that and I had a DOCTOR WHO question hit HNQ, so, there's that ;)

@NapoleonWilson Only about a thousand.

@steelerfan Hmpf, I see.

I have only asked one question over there and it was successful for me and it was a Doctor Who question. I even got a compliment from Richard, ffs! ;)

3:28 PM
everyone likes a decent DW question

I have only answered 2 questions over there...it's not like I have a lot of activity over there. I was going to answer Rand's Princess Bride questions, but, someone beat me to them.
@Ixrec Well, I just only watched that one episode last night and the question that I had about it really isn't that great.
@NapoleonWilson Nope. Too Late. Sorry ;)

@steelerfan Ok then. :'(

@Ixrec At least the surge of terrible ones has stopped these days.

user116211
And that's it! Theo's chapter is end with the right tool ;)) Oh Penguin!!

user116211
Would Azrael appear in s3? Or is he gone forever?

3:35 PM
@NapoleonWilson Awww. You know that I could never retract that statement, babe! Never! ;-*

@steelerfan Awww, of course I know. ;-*

user116211
Oh man! I can't wait for Gotham s3 ;D

They will be revealing that Bane's suit originated in Bruce Wayne's arsenal room...just sayin' ;)

@steelerfan Seing how Bruce Wayne is like 12 in that show, I highly doubt that.
Stop trying to make that happen, it won't! ;-P

@NapoleonWilson I will be accepting apologies from all of you when it's revealed that the suit in his statue room was the inspiration for Bane... ;)
@NapoleonWilson Nope. It's happening.

3:41 PM
isn't "Batman created/inspired most of his own supervillains" one of the oldest nerd debates in the book?

@steelerfan Good to hear, so we can go on heckling you about it till it happens.

You will all be saying..."God, that steelerfan is so frigging brilliant! I was so lucky to be in the same room with someone so awesome and amazing!" ;)
@NapoleonWilson Hehehe! Of course!
@Ixrec Hahaha! I don't know, however I am happy to be in such a debate ;)

user116211
@steelerfan Did you tell me this?

it certainly varies by continuity to some extent

user116211
Poison Ivy is coming in s3.

user116211
3:45 PM
The hunt for Hugo Strange will continue.

@steelerfan I say that to myself all the time anyway.

@MAFIA36790 I'm just messing with Napoleon right now. I brought up how a suit that Bruce Wayne had in his "statue room" from the 1989 movie somewhat resembles Bane's suit. This is what inspired Ankit to ask his question about it and won the challenge.

user116211
@steelerfan Ah! I hardly doubt there would be Batman in Gotham as @napoleon implied; it's the earliest tales of the classic Batman characters, I would say.

one wonders how long Gotham can keep going without either making Batman happen, or making some of the cops powerful enough to be a Batman replacement

@NapoleonWilson Awww. OMG, you are so frigging cool! Just be glad that you're a million miles away from me right now :P

3:51 PM
@steelerfan Why should I be glad for that? :'(

@MAFIA36790 Yeah, I have zero clue about that show. I'm just being a pain in the ass to Napoleon ;)

user116211
;D

@Napoleon I take it this question wouldn't meet your ID standards?

@NapoleonWilson Because, you start saying cool stuff like that, nothing would get accomplished for the day ;)

@Randal'Thor Yeah...no, or at least not sufficient for a migration.
With a little "luck" he'll reask it anyway based on the comment. ;-)

3:56 PM
@Passerby the joke was that 0 divided by 0 is usually NaN =)

I like how Paulie_D is optimistic about the question being put on hold for lack of detail, though. I wonder what site he thinks he's on. ;-)
@steelerfan Hehe!

@Ixrec Oh, that was a joke? A math joke...that explains why it flew over my head ;)

@steelerfan Math and computer science even.

@NapoleonWilson 0:)

user116211
@Ixrec oh man; don't mess with that ;P

3:59 PM
more of a programming joke since "NaN" is a special value that's used in computers to represent computations that have no sensible result, but we don't want to make the machine halt and catch fire every time someone does them by mistake
taking the square root of -1 is another typical way to get NaN

I have no clue what you people are talking about :P

Q: Explanation of method for showing that $\frac{0}{0}$ is undefined

Jacob(This was asked due to the comments and downvotes on this Stackoverflow answer. I am not that good at maths, so was wondering if I had made any basic mistakes) Ignoring limits, I would like to know if this is a valid explanation for why $\frac00$ is undefined: $x = \frac00$ $x \cdot 0 = 0...

numerical stability is fascinating to me, but it's right on the edge of what my brain is capable of handling

faints

4:01 PM
to non-math people: an algorithm is "numerically unstable" when it's likely to give wildly inaccurate results if you try to execute it with too few decimal places in your numbers
since computers can't do infinite decimal places, that's a big deal

@NapoleonWilson I think that he just follows ID around everywhere to make that same statement ;)

@NapoleonWilson How's this?
If this question is about sci-fi or fantasy, please edit it to add more details as Paulie_D suggests; see also our guidance on asking good story-ID questions. If it's not about sci-fi or fantasy, you might like to re-ask it at Movies & TV as Gallifreian suggests; however, note that they have stricter guidelines for ID questions, and please read the checklist for "Identify-This-X Questions" here before posting your question there. — Rand al'Thor ♦ 1 min ago

@steelerfan Sure, it doesn't hurt. I just found it fascinating how he made it on a site that doesn't really have a treatment for bad ID questions.
@Randal'Thor Fine.

@Ixrec It sounds like it. My mind is already blown complete mush ;)
@NapoleonWilson Yeah, I was also fascinated :P

@NapoleonWilson Also, would you mind deleting your comment there, since it's incorrect?

4:06 PM
@Randal'Thor Meh, your response already stands as a counter to it for everyone reading it, I'll still stand by it to some degree. Besides that, you're a mdoerator, you don't have to ask me for deleting comments you deem obsolete or otherwise inappropriate.

that doesn't make it a good idea for rand to unilaterally delete comments he disagrees with, lol

@Ixrec But it's not like he just disagrees with it. If it's a genuinely wrong comment bound to confuse users, there's nothing wrong with cleaning it up.

Wait. Is that long-ass gibberish of a name the one that you use on sf/f @NapoleonWilson?

@steelerfan Yes.

Hmmm...I see.

4:09 PM
@NapoleonWilson What Ixrec said. It could possibly count as "not constructive", since it's more a comment on SFF practices in general than relevant to this particular question, but meh.

@steelerfan Oh, shall I now rather delete all the comments I made as that user where I called you stupid? ;-P

@steelerfan It's from the Witcher series.
@NapoleonWilson :-O

user116211
Wonder who Strange is talking with in the TV screen; the lady in a mask ;/

@Randal'Thor Sure, as I said, if you deem it inappropriate, feel free to do your job. I don't really care much about its survival, only enough to not delete it myself.

user116211
And lots of men behind other in the mask.

4:11 PM
@NapoleonWilson No, I am sure Rand would have already done that :P

@MAFIA36790 I assume you're not talking about Jonathan Strange here.

Seing how he talked about Gotham before, I doubt it (hint: it has a Hugo Strange).

user116211
@Randal'Thor My bad; Strange means Dr. Hugo Strange.

I'm seeing the Secret Council is actually Court of Owls!

As part of the Robin War event, the Court of Owls had expanded internationally and is referred to as the Parliament of Owls. == Publication history == The Court of Owls is first mentioned in Batman #2 (2011) and make their first full...

Q: What is the cultural significance of the "kaiju screech"?

QuuxplusoneLast night I watched The Mighty Peking Man for the first (and probably last) time. Utam) is a ten-story-tall ...
