I like this kind of clear-cut spam, none of that "you have to try out our product" on-topic answer nonsense.

@ArtOfCode I discovered how to get the multiple smokey bars at the bottom row of the flag dialog, if you double click the "flag" button (I sometimes do this because slow internet here) it will spawn 2 smokey bars
^ also happens when you click flag before the page is fully loaded, as a click then doesn't open the flag dialog

Q: Let's play Space Invaders!

Gabriele Petronella Not exactly a huge bug, but I think one loader would suffice. For the record, my connection dropped in the exact moment I clicked the flag link and every further click spawned a new loader (kind of entertaining, though. I might open a feature-request).

@ArtOfCode But there's no API changes over the last 9 days I can see. github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/compare/…
Yesterday was the first we got of these since May

@Magisch Yeah, I know, just a bit lazy ;-) But I'll try to keep it in mind to avoid cluttering.

Restart: API quota is 6096.

Hey undo. Did you get my ping earlier today? :)

yeah, usually have a whole stack of them to go through
done

Yeah, I reckon you're popular as a mod ;-)
But thanks.

"popular" would be stretching it, though.

Well.... "wanted" then ;-)

also, asked whether the API changed in the last ~2 days.

@Magisch Sorry, I didn't get notices of any new messages in the room.
Yes I have. Twice. I came in 11th in the last one, just missing the cut off
and the previous election I was 15th. I'm sure I have a screenshot of those results somewhere too, but I can't find it. (nomination post here)
Oh, ha. That's the one Martijn was in and crushed everyone.

3:09 PM
@Andy That was early, pretty sure I ended up in 4th or 5th in primaries.

@SmokeDetector f

Apart from the method of advertisement, what exactly is wrong with the L**g P**h T**l?

@SmokeDetector why

@Oldskool Body - Position 26-40: Long Path Tool

3:17 PM
Dunno.

@JanDvorak That they've been warned about it for years, and they aren't stopping.

They are spammers, but is their product as bad?

No clue

Five stars on Softonic, but I doubt that means anything

@JanDvorak Why did you censor that? Do you get flagged for even mentioning it or something? :)

3:40 PM
@undo They also have this infinitely obnoxious affiliate program and additionally seize your computer almost like ransomware for payment

@undo Nope, you're in third.

I was thinking about running when the next election comes up

3:56 PM
@Magisch do it, although be prepared for the emotional rollercoaster.

I have no illusions of getting through the primary
I'm coming in at maybe a year of membership and under 5k rep, but maybe it can be a nice learning experience anyways

"HEY I'M ACTUALLY GONNA DO THIS" "oh Martijn nominated" "OH I'M IN THIRD" "got fifth overall" "OOOH AN EMAIL"
^ pretty much sums up the whole process

I may run just because maybe it could happen
If someone else whos better suited steps up, eh, win / win for the site
so no harm done

@Magisch Statistically speaking, you have a much better chance of becoming a moderator if you run
5

exactly :p
I don't think I'd be a terrible mod

4:02 PM
I might recommend trying for a smaller site first to see if it's your thing.

I think I have a pretty good idea about what it entails
I'm not new to moderation overall

4:04 PM
"Crappy" needs to be in that somewhere.

IIRC, the workplace doesnt need another moderator, and that and SO are the only SE sites I'm active in posting content in
before this, I used to sort through 200+ reports on minecraftforums.net a day
mind you, these were mostly filed by 9-14 year olds only just capable of typing a sentence that was meaningful

well, that's about the right order of magnitude.
@Magisch accurate :P

But that site was also different in many ways

Of course, SO mods like to complain. We get a decent number of... almost-English flags, but they're usually easy to deal with.
If you let us, we'll give you both a much worse and a much better impression of what it's like.

Part of why I stopped going to other sites once I was in SE is because this site does community involvement surprisingly nicely without some of the insidious BS that usually comes from that
You only realize just how civil and nice the theory of moderation makes things when you were at a site that patently didnt have it

4:23 PM
No API changes in the last few days.

Regarding the anonymous mod messages discussion from earlier this week:
16
A: Make moderator messages anonymous

bluefeetI agree with this but there are some concerns that need to be thought through. Moderators should always be accountable for their actions, including suspensions. We have processes in place when users believe a moderator abused their privileges, but if we make messages anonymous how will we keep ...

I used to do right click -> copy link right from the post page in metasmoke. Since metasmoke now has a user page, that generates the results above. :P

@undo wow. That was quick. I'll take a look after I eat something. Thanks

Running it again now, it's giving NaN predictions again. Not sure what's up with that, was having issues earlier.
