there's a one near the start that really should be simple, but the puzzles I mean (including it, but it still shouldn't be too bad) that basically involve reflexive action from you, not actual "solving" of a puzzle
there are still actual puzzles in it
some of which you don't HAVE to do, others that you do
and who knows, maybe you will like some of the reflexive action ones, most of the ones save ONE of them are tolerable to me
yeah, you can definitely play through most if not all of the game without one
and of course, if/when you hypothetically get to playing it, I will gladly answer any questions you have
you might miss some cool loot and some of the Dragon Genes cause it's your first time running through the game, but who knows, if you look hard enough you could still find them all yourself too
I will help as much or as little as you ask if it ever comes up XD
there is one point in the game in which an NPC will give you all the instructions that you need to do the next thing you need to do, he will also tell you to write it down AND write it down for you
do not use what he wrote down
what he tells you is good, and you can get him to repeat it, but what he wrote down is wrong
that is just about the only part of the game that I consider to be literally unfair
though at least they do technically tell you to write it down for yourself too
@trogdor Exactly. It's possible that running away would get the party member back, since Swallowed is just a condition that ends when you kill the creature.
So maybe ending the combat would count, if you see what I mean.
ooooooor they die from it and you suddenly have their body, oooooor you actually have to hunt down the creature again,.... ooooor they just go away forever XD
@Miniman I told the Umpani straight up when they first quized me that I "may have in the past or might in the future harbor sympathies with the T'rang"
@Miniman thing is, I had been hanging out at the T'rang base, not the Umpani base, before they decided I was a spy and attacked me, I had talked to them several times and not gone to the Umpani base
THEN they decided I was a spy the next time I talked to em
@Miniman not a big deal, I figured maybe the scout they sent out might see me going back to the Umpani base at some point
if that happens I guess it means it's all Umpani quests from there
ooor I can reload a save to just stick to choosing the T'rang
I think I recall a person or two expressing some interest in Traveller a week or two ago--if I can track it down, mind if I invite them to join us? I don't have an interest in fishing around/broadcasting, but I feel like it'd be nice to follow up (if I can find the person).
I'm at the "I'm right by the next plot-relephant zone, but I have to go three zones the other way to get an item I'd really like to have there but don't need" phase.
@eimyr Would Jarmski be a good self-name for the language of Jarm if represented by Polish, or are there phonotactics or other rules to pay attention to?
"Nie zgadzam się, żeby ten człowiek mnie reprezentował. Proszę zaczekać, znajdę odpowiedniego tłumacza." = lit. "I disagree with that man representing me. Please wait, I'll find an appropriate translator"
Say, if you were sending someone because you can't come, you'd say "Wysyłam Pana X by mówił w moim imieniu."
Can I have ”Not necessarily agree” instead of explicit “Disagree”? Someone not speaking Jęzik Jarmski would have no idea whether they agree or disagree with the mad representative at their side.
I'm building a book of things someone playing Empire LARP might want to know IC.
One of the things is “Which Empire-foreign language is represented by which European language?”
I thought the way to do that is giving a phrase or two in each of those languages.
And given that Empire is a very political game, the translator someone might give set at your side might represent someone else's interests more than yours.
Conference is in Poznań, and I think it's another place we went through on that choir tour, of which mostly remember odd bits and rarely anything in a recognizeable manner.
I hope she doesn't hear this, but Poznań is not really that exciting, the old town is very kitsch and the rest is just unremarkable. Also, it doesn't have any interesting topology, as it's squarely in the middle of Polish Lowlands.
I was about to recommend taking a detour to Malbork (biggest brick castle and biggest castle in Europe) or Pszczyna/Białowieża (genuine wild forest bisons)
I got into the Mook place, but when I tried to take the Chaos Moleri they got mad, and I figured out I could switch it out for the fake Astral Dominae,... but I feel like I am supposed to use that to bait and switch the Savant, not the Mook
"Hey guys, check this out: Those guys just picked up the orb, shoved it in their backpack, then took an orb out of their backpack and dumped it on the pedestal!"
@trogdor The conclusion I've always come to in the end, based in no small part on the guy who hired you, is that they're interested to observe events on Dominus but don't really take the Ascension seriously.
@BESW In terms of class, there's not a lot of difference. The Samurai's usual stat allocation is a bit more favourable for archery, but the Valkyrie has skill points to spare which you can throw at a bow.
The Valk comes out better, I think.
Samurai is already really overstretched on skills.
@BESW Ok, so, prefix all of this with a lack of experience - I've only tried a ninja once.
The whole faerie ninja thing is overhyped - the weapon is cool, but not really that big a deal.
Auto-penentrate and critical with thrown weapons makes them very reliable, but as you probably know, there's extreme scarcity when it comes to good thrown weapons.
As I understand it, those features don't work with a sling, which is a shame, because that would make it an excellent ranged attacker, probably on par with the ranger.
@BESW More on ninjas: Ignoring thrown weapons as a possible combat style, they're sort of stuck with Staff & Wand, since they can't use many weapons of most types. Which is where the faerie ninja starts looking good, obviously.
One last note: All of the hybrids are roughly similar in terms of spellcasting, but in the same way that the Priest spellbook is the easiest to make effective on a hybrid character, I think the Alchemy spellbook is by far the hardest.
@trogdor Use of those things is governed by the Thrown skill, but they basically cast spells, so things like auto-penetrate and critical don't work for them.
@Miniman I wouldn't worry about that on a ranged-party ninja at all. There'd be a full Alchemist in the back mixing powders and bombs for her to throw.
I'm looking at Ranger (of course), Gadgeteer (of course), Alchemist and Priest because I'm not sure I can play without them, somebody tanky who can use a bow (Fighter or Valk, probably), and--somebody else ranged.
A melee-focused party is technically more powerful, but I'm remembering now that late-game you spend a lot of time walking up to people while they cast debuff spells on you.
@BESW It sucks at the start, and you'd want to run to the Umpani, but some of the Modern Weapons are actually really good. The Gadgeteer is always using the Omnigun, so there's never any competition for them.
