4:23 AM
Well, guys
Our country has voted to leave the EU

@DanPantry are all votes counted ?

@Heslacher No, but the Leave campaign is ahead by 1.3 million votes. The only need half of the votes to win, which means they only need 800,000 further in order to win

to bad IMO that your country is leaving

Unless the next 26 constituencies vote remain and garner 2.1 million votes, it seems unlikely we will be remaining
Really bad. The value of the £ has tanked already (compared to the $)
Also will make my offer at Riot that much harder since no one knows what will happen to UK nationals who rely on EU freedom of movement visas..
I only have one word for this: Crap.

4:58 AM
hopefully this doesn't spell trouble for @JeroenVannevel in his new job

5:52 AM
Yaaay poltics and messy britain are ruining people's days again
Sorry brits, but you're really good at that

6:12 AM
"Invest in the market," they said. "Britain won't Russian roulette with a Glock," they said.

2% majority is not a majority for huge things like this ..

@Vogel612 Hopefully the brit government try and negotiate a center position

Something like norway has?

Basically
Which would be hilarious
Because we would have voted out of the Eu to avoid immigration and sovereignty issues and end up having to agree to the Schengen agreement and agree to laws set by the EU anyway :D

6:27 AM
Eurgh.. that's the most stupid reason against EU that I've ever heard

Well, that's basically the reasons for leaving
That and the media has spun that we send £350m/day to the EU (we get about 2/3rd of it back in rebates)

It's going to be fun when everyone who actually pays in the EU leaves.. at this point I'm expecting the german and french right wing parties to rally and say: "they can do that, let's do that too now"
And it will work in france but not in germany
Also I find it rather intriguing that bbc dot com has some right wing german petition advertisement for me...

I don't really know what happens now, how this will impact my Riot application, etc

6:58 AM
well aint this just lovely
no idea yet how this will affect me, we'll see

same, @JeroenVannevel. I'm hoping it doesn't affect my application with Riot, but it means I'll have to factor in a Visa in 2 years..

On the upside: now is the time for me to switch some euros to pounds

-@DanPantry you'd be going to ireland, right?

on the downside: I'm being paid in pounds
Ireland and UK have a special thing going on. I'm not sure if you'd need a visa for them

@Vogel612 ROI, which is part of the EU.
It's not Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK.

7:02 AM
also there's Schengen.

Northern Ireland and ROI are two separate countries.

you may not need a visa, but you may need a work permit

The ROI does not participate in the Schengen area (something about a sea being in the way of it all)

why does it all have to be complicated???

Work permit sounds likely, but maybe not for the next 2 years (hopefully?)

7:05 AM
the way I understood the news article for the duration of the negotiations everything stays the same

except the value of the british pound, apparently...
@JeroenVannevel ask to be paid in dollars, haha

yeah I should've
even euros are 6.5% up against the pound apparently

@JeroenVannevel that €60k/pa is sounding nicer and nicer
providing the euro doesn't collapse as a result

you wish,.

I think a lot of the London-based stuff now just moves inland towards Berlin so that will move stability over as well

@JeroenVannevel I'd guess Frankfurt, actually

Ask to be paid in Bitcoins; they're going up

can't pay rent in bitcoin

Germany, basically
we'll see what the practical applications of this are, I guess

@Zak is gonna have fun when he comes back from his holiday ^^

7:14 AM
BEL20 (belgian stock market) lost 9% already
lol

told ya, euro is going to go tank

@DanPantry at least you can buy pizza

meh... this is getting long-winded for politics. Mind if I move this all to the nth?

Go for it @Vogel612

at least it's not Trash

lol it isn't
this is probably the number one topic on chat right now I guess
Mathematics already had some flags flying

(background: interviewing guy is the guy who made the leave campaign)

"this content is not available"

okay, i'll transcribe it, hold on

link timed out or it's intended target group doesn't include me ....
wtf facebook?

7:18 AM
"The £130million that was being sent to the EU, can you guarantee that will go to the NHS?"
"Well, no, that would be silly and the leave campaign would never have said that-"
"But that was one of your promises"
"Well, that was a mistake"
Basically along the lines of that ^
And I wish I were making it up, but I'm not
This is a big deal, because that was one of the big points of the UKIP manifesto
and they've just gone back on it within 2 hours of the result being official

hrngh ....

7:34 AM
our PM just resigned

effective October..
@DanPantry does that automatically trigger new elections?

Yes, but, still, he's announced it
@Vogel612 No, but it puts it on our minds

UKIP does get quite a boost from this, don't they?

I bloody hope not, they're vultures
But, if labour do not adjust, people will likely not want to vote conservative due to Cameron, so, yes..

8:14 AM
@DanPantry More reasons to try for Riot now?
Sorry for the UK guys, but I really hope the UK will crash hard, so hard that all parties in The Netherlands who want a referendum to leave the EU will be considered absolute crazy
I don't trust our Dutch population at all for a referendum

Same here.

Oh crap. We will miss you, UK.
<3 EUROPE!

I guess we'll just have to conquer the world and get it over with.

8:59 AM
@skiwi yes & no
I think the leave will make it harder for me to stay in Dublin long term for obvious reasons
UK is going to crash SO bad
Scotland will go independent now, Northern Ireland will join up with ROI and unionise.
We'll be the Alright Britain.
it really sucks because I am very much a globalist :\
@skiwi It also lends some hope to the US elections
If people see this ultra-nationalist crap fail in the UK they may be less wanting to vote for drumpf (who backed the Leave campaign)
@SimonForsberg I will miss you too. :(

the biggest problem I have with this outcome is that the EU will probably have to tank another crapload of economic downfall
at least the German stock market lost hard
and NY isn't even awake yet

9:22 AM
@DanPantry How hard is getting a new nationality nowadays?
Come to the dark side, we have cookies.

@Mast Haven't really looked into it.
I dont' think I could convert to Dutch at the drop of a hat :P

No, but any EU country would do I guess.
Including Ireland.
They even pay with Euros there. Fare more advanced than the Brits.

lol :)
I'm not really sure how the economy is going to fare
whether everything will tank

Maid Café says that Australian economy already tanks

9:52 AM
omfg. it was so obvious...
right wing extemist nationalists want a EU Referendum in Germany

At least in Germany they'll likely lose it.
I simply can't imagine Germany leaving the EU.

It's not that unlikely given the current mood
sure they'll probably fail spectacularly
but I wouldn't discount it as impossible
I expect there to be something like 30% for exiting :/

If Germany leaves the EU and Turkey enters it, I'm migrating to Canada.

lol if Germany leaves the EU after Britain already exited, the EU will collapse

Pretty much.

10:01 AM
because at that point France will also leave and then most of the EU funds are away
and even if France doesn't leave, they simply cannot keep the EU alive
depending on how it works out in Scotland and Northern Ireland the damage might be controllable
it could be especially funny if the city of london decides to say "fuck it, we're leaving the kingdom"...
because IIUC they technically can do that

Britain without London, now that would be something...

Sounds crazy but I can imagine a scenario where Scotland, N Ireland, Wales, & London all have independence referendums leaving England alone

I can imagine Scotland declaring independence over this.

oh I hope they actually pull that off-

@Mast As far as I am concerned but Germany iIS the EU lol
@Mast They will. Every single constituency in Scotland had a large majority "remain" vote.

10:53 AM
So Chancellor Merkel invited France, Italy and the EU Council's president ... seems we're going to make this thing happen ....

The Netherlands is president at the moment.

11:21 AM
@Vogel612 I heard that the ECSC will gather tomorrow, not sure if that's the same?
The European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) was an international organisation serving to unify certain Continental European countries after World War II. It was formally established in 1951 by the Treaty of Paris, which was signed by Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The ECSC was the first international organisation to be based on the principles of supranationalism, and would ultimately lead the way to the founding of the European Union. The ECSC was first proposed by French foreign minister Robert Schuman on 9 May 1950 as a way to prevent further war between...
I think it's a bit odd given that the EU exists, why gather with the former ECSC?
(The Netherlands is there as full member, not because they are president at the moment)

News are confusing

The whole Brexit is confusing and if I read the reports correctly, many voted to leave because they think it will solve certain issues.
I'm quite certain it's not that easy.

11:37 AM
Some even voted to leave because then they could renegotiate their EU membership
I can't stand that Boris Johnson, he looks too similar to Donald Trump
Haven't actually heard him talking yet though, so maybe it's not that bad

11:56 AM
@Vogel612 Considering the tone of Merkel I'm curious what the real plan is, I wouldn't be surprised if they let EU be as it is and shift more power to a new trade association between the bigger (Western) members of Europe

We'll see

1 hour later…
1:02 PM
Somehow this whole thing turned more into whether the UK remains to exist than whether the EU remains to exist

6:44 PM
@DanPantry Congrats :o what did they all have to tell?

7:14 PM
@skiwi I'm nto sure I understand what youre asking ^^

8:05 PM
@DanPantry Well about the whole error with schedulign the interview and you barely being able to attend

Q: Must the UK leave the EU?

Colin ZwanzigerThe BBC has projected that a majority voted for the UK to leave the EU. Is the referendum binding, or does ultimate authority lie with parliament?

Cameron isn't going to do it, he's just announced his resignation. — Separatrix 13 hours ago
That's a good point

It also makes it a lot more complicated.

Have fun in Dublin :-)

:D
So far I haven't built a single piece of fleet
and I'd like to keep it that way
the number one has 8432 points and this is after 2 weeks I think
not having commanders and stuff actually balances the game a lot lol

@skiwi Doesn't sound like your playstyle though.
Oh, they finally launched a non-DM universe?

True, but I don't really want to start playing
@Mast Yeah, with like old skin etc. runs on v 0.77 so doesn't have a lot of stuff
but the core game is there of course

Is that pre-battlecruiser?

yea

9:15 PM
Power to the battleships.

It even had probe raiding, but they disabled that and added the Gammaglider
Actually not sure about probe raiding, i thought this thing was supposed to replace it, but it's just a troll
SI 1000 means metal + crystal is at most 1000 and it needs Shipyard 14 and Hyperdrive 10
For reference, a Deathstar needs Shipyard 12 and Hyperdrive 7

Gammaglider? I do not recall that ship.

@Mast That's because it's a new one

I thought they were going to make it an old universe.
Now they added new stuff?

Just that single thing though
Doesn't look like it will really affect gameplay though

9:32 PM
With a speed equal to a Deathstar, no, not likely. Perhaps they'll be used as fleetsave cargoships.
