9:01 PM
Wow, now i realized that it was based on some history

@AnkitSharma Of course. But it's not really that accurate. It's based on another already inaccurate (and maybe romanticized) historic chronicle from some other guy.

As mentioned here.

@NapoleonWilson "some other guy" :-o

@NapoleonWilson Reading it

9:04 PM
@Randal'Thor Yeah, named Raphael Holinshed, it seems.

But can't upvote that stuff more
So this two answer are from steelerfan's sister

@NapoleonWilson Oh, I thought you were referring to Shakespeare as "some other guy" and the fact that the film was based on Shakespeare.

@Randal'Thor Um, we know already that the film is an adaptation of a Shakespeare play, because we're not stupid here. It would thus be strange to say that yet again, since he wasn't talking about the play but the historical inspiration.
And afterall, the film wasn't even based on Shakespeare, it was Shakespeare.

Now i want to watch Indian adaptation more

Me too. Unfortunately I can't find it.

9:11 PM
@NapoleonWilson Oh, well, I didn't know that.

Did Othello also have supernatural element?

@AnkitSharma I don't think so. But I know admittedly zero about Othello (other than that the main guy is supposedly black and other guys intrigue against him).

I mean Macbeth had witches and souls. Hemlet shows his fathers ghost

@AnkitSharma No, just an utter jerk who was very natural and human.

Grrr.....so i can't craft my answer as i wanted too

9:14 PM
@AnkitSharma That being said, the witches' prophecies themselves were largely self-fullfilling. You don't necessarily need supernaturality for them.

@AnkitSharma no... its just a board game.

@AnkitSharma And even Hamlet could have imagined that ghost himself.

@NapoleonWilson Agreed but Indian adaptation removed both the elements , maybe to make it more natural

@AnkitSharma Seems reasonable, but I guess they weren't actual full-on inscenations in the first place, rather than adaptations.

He used play as the outline only and mixed it with real life Indian issues and stores

9:18 PM
In the same way Banquo's ghost could be an imagination, too, since noone else sees him (and some inscenations even suggest this to some degree, I think).

@AnkitSharma Huh? So he also made books out of it?

@NapoleonWilson i don't think so. I though link is for dvd set combo
I can't read that ;D

@AnkitSharma No, that's apparently books.

ooops
That make no sense, we don't do movie novelization here normally
US amazon have the DVD's but can't find combo

9:25 PM
So this looks like it could be fun for us movie people: tasteprofile.io

Q: How much time passed from the end of season 5 to the Battle of the Bastards?

MindwinI know the showmakers don't tell the time in Game of Thrones, but I believe an estimate can be done on how long it would take for all their travels. So from the day Theon/Reek and Sansa Stark (Sansa Lannister? Sansa Bolton?) escape the Boltons, to the day of the Battle of the Bastards, how long ...

@MattD Meh, if I add all the stuff I liked it will simply suggest everything.

@MattD Giving me all the films which i have never seen for calculating taste

@NapoleonWilson It's more about finding interesting trends.
Such as apparently only 5% of people who liked Skyfall hated Spectre.

Heh!
Anyway, will I have to add everything I saw and liked? Because I'm not engaging that hassle.

9:29 PM
Not everything, just whatever you feel like rating.
As far as I can tell anyway. The site is sparse on details or exactly how it works.

Hmm, still too much.
Oh, do you mean I also have to rate it?

Didn't worked for me
There suggestions were not of my taste and now my taste is based on what i got
Done with my question

@MattD If I haven't seen any of the films they mention, do I win a prize?

now time to sleep
@Randal'Thor yeah you get a free upvote on your next non ID question here.

@Randal'Thor Guess you have to search, though given the slate of movies I was presented with upon first visiting, why are you on this site if you haven't seen any of the ones they've shown you so far? :P

Q: Why do sieges work in Westeros?

Matthew StevensonBy my understanding, at the start of the show, summer has been going on for 10 years, this might be wrong though. Anyhow, Petyr Baelish reveals to the small council that Kings Landing has enough grain saved up to last them for a five year winter. This therefore averages at about a 50% surplus. D...

Q: Why did Vishal Bhardwaj avoided supernatural theme in Haider and Maqbool?

Ankit SharmaIn Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of Hemlet and Macbeth into Haider and Maqbool, why did he completed avoided all the supernatural elements like witched, ghosts etc? Did he ever explained his choice of skipping them?

@MattD he is bookworm

@MattD Because steelerfan talked me into joining :-)

And why do you always write Hamlet with an "e"? ;-)

@Randal'Thor Fair enough I suppose.

HA HA HA. I got She's the Man as one of the movies.

9:37 PM
@Randal'Thor Any word on how the Brexit vote is coming along?

@NapoleonWilson ooopss
Maybe i iek teh sound of E

@Catija They seem to go for a broad slate of movies on your initial set.

@Catija Probably because you liked Twelth Night so much.

@MattD Everyone seems to think Remain has won, but the results won't be in for hours yet.

@Catija I like the film, it's also based on Shakespeare's work

9:38 PM
@NapoleonWilson I mean in the little intro thing... I haven't gotten that far in yet.

@MovieReel How do you even know that when you haven't seen it already?

Wow. Timothy Dalton does an excellent job of playing a complete jerk.

Why did i used completed O.o

Ugh. It thinks I like Birdman.

@Catija You should like Birdman. :P

9:40 PM
No.

@Randal'Thor Aren't you glad that I did? ;)

I'm torn between marking something as "haven't seen" and "Awful" if the reason I haven't seen it is because I'm pretty sure it's awful.

@NapoleonWilson wikipedia, want to make my entry before it's too late

@Catija I'd say be honest. The site is about trends after all.

@Catija I don't like it, i don't hate it, too serious for my taste
@Catija lol

9:42 PM
But, hey, I got to rate all three Star Wars prequels as "awful".

I will rate all SW as meh ;D

@MattD Yeah, but if I don't watch or have interests in Horror films but I haven't seen any of them, they call it "skipped"... do they take into account the fact that I've "skipped" it or do they just exclude it from their data set... they need a button for "no interest in watching".

Anyways i quit that site already

@steelerfan Um, maybe?
:-P

Time to sleep now
Good night

9:44 PM
@AnkitSharma You already made one.

@Randal'Thor Hehehe!

@NapoleonWilson yeah but i want to ask more

@Catija Heh, and I got to rate them as "Good".

Maybe i can ask more tomorrow if i get chance to watch Maqbool
@Randal'Thor O.o

@MattD Will I be able to take this test twice?

9:46 PM
On the one hand "Amazing" sounds quite too much, but on the other hand "Good" doesn't sound good enough when the next step is "Meh". So I had to vote District 9 as amazing and L.A. Confidential, too, althought one is just a nice (but totally good) film and the other one is one of my all-time favourites.
That's why I hate comparing totally different and arbitrary stuff to each other. It just makes no sense.

I'm trying now and clicking "Haven't Seen" for everything I haven't seen, but I might want to retake it and not click "Haven't Seen" for those I have some opinion of (e.g. I haven't seen it because I think it's awful)

I haven't rated anything as "amazing".

@NapoleonWilson Is LA Confidential one of your all time favorites?

That list sucks, go inside and rate your fav one by searching

So The Fifth Element is a romance now?
@steelerfan Well, what do you think? Listen to your heart and you'll guess the right answer. ;-)

9:51 PM
@NapoleonWilson I can rate it meh without bothering for genre

@NapoleonWilson I'm listening to my heart, however I don't want to reveal too much. We are in chat, after all :P

@NapoleonWilson Sure. It's Sci-fi adventure romance.

Hmm, I'm voting nearly everything I've seen as "Amazing". Does that mean the suggestion system works?

@steelerfan I was talking about the friggin' film alone. Yes, of course it's L.A. COnfidential!

9:54 PM
Ha! It suggested American Werewolf in London. Awesome!
@NapoleonWilson I know that you were talking about L.A. Confidential. I'm completely joking with you!

I know.

I really wish that my phone was working right now.
Hmmm...this thing works pretty good. All of the suggestions are movies that I love and adore.

@steelerfan You have to strike through the "and", too, for the remainder to make grammatical sense. ;-P

Well, at least from the ones I saw I only voted about 3 "Meh"s so far (and those were initial suggestions), the rest was "Good" and mostly "Amazing". So maybe it just works.

10:03 PM
@NapoleonWilson Thanks for letting me know.

the highlight of my day is when Napoleon corrects someone else's English.

Meh, it's just suggesting me every possible thing ever without any pattern. Most of the stuff I haven't seen I don't really am too inclined to see. Seems a futile endeavour.

@KutuluMike Yeah. It's the highlight of my day as well.

10:18 PM
@NapoleonWilson *strike :-P
@KutuluMike Trumped ^

@Randal'Thor ?_?
Stupid bullshit weather is ass, though. Summer is ass!

Are you saying that you're having stupid bullshit weather that is apparently "ass"?

@steelerfan Yes. Nights simply aren't supposed to be hot, that's illogical, no reasonably thinking person invents weather like that.

Be sure to correct my punctuation if need be. I always get confused when using punctuation inside or outside of parentheses.

I like summer, no sour throat. Nose bleed can be handled easily
@steelerfan holy moly

10:26 PM
@NapoleonWilson No, Summer is direwolf, not ass.

@NapoleonWilson That's why I get into a cold shower and don't dry off and just jump into bed. It's the only way to stay cool.

@steelerfan There are apparently differing rules for that anyway. I usually hate it, though, when people drag punctuation that logically belongs outside of the parantheses into it. That just makes no structural sense, but I think there are language variants that allow or even encourage that.

@steelerfan I thought you were always cool? ;-)

@AnkitSharma I'm just being a smart ass...

hahhhahahaa

10:28 PM
@steelerfan Blurgh, but then you're lieing in the bed wet and soaking the whole bed, which only gets worse when the weather is hot then.

@Randal'Thor Haha! Awww, thanks buddy :)

4:00 AM , time to finally leave

I haven't seen the film but I'm not really sure why this is trivia: movies.stackexchange.com/review/reopen/43315

@NapoleonWilson Awww. I'm sorry. I'm only telling you what works for me.

@Catija Me neither, deserves a closer look.
But hey, @AnkitSharma actually has seen the film and should know then.

10:31 PM
I nominated it for reopening...

@steelerfan Sure, to each his own (as long as people possibly sharing their bed with you don't get affected by it).

I forgot but not trivia
opened now

@NapoleonWilson <resists extremely smart ass comment> ;)

Good night

10:34 PM
Nite :)

@steelerfan Hmm...

Q: Did IMDB Top 250 got hacked now?

user37062Just Now I saw 3 Idiots (2009) got 26th place in IMDB Top 250. Yesterday It was around 110th place, suddenly now it got 26th place. & About 10 Indian movies are added today only in IMDB Top 250. Barfi (2012), Baahubali (2015), Airlift, My Name is Khan. etc I never encountered this thing in IMD...

How the hell does this have five upvotes???
WTF is going on with people?

Maybe Movies.SE got hacked, too?
2

I have no idea. I'm still amazed that my question has 27 upvotes. Perhaps it did get hacked ;)

10:37 PM
Ooops that puzzle
i knwo the answer

@AnkitSharma I thought you were going to sleep?

@AnkitSharma Maybe you can also give the question a little more context then, so it looks less like trivia.

given answer

Seriously, if you flesh out the question too, it will make a much better overall impression (and look less like a moderator reopening something just to answer it).

I will try
wait
That comment reminded me the answer
And then got the riddle all over the internet

10:42 PM
> Goodbye, Crow.

@Catija not your name. Just name, "your" will not suit
It's demon's name not there

Then your answer should clarify that.
Walt's comment says "your name", so that's why I changed it.

Q: What was the riddle given by Bill Wilkins?

MariaIn The Conjuring 2, what was the riddle given by Bill Wilkins to solve? What was it's answer and significance in the film?

^^ done
@Catija Stopped by your concern for that question, it's solevd now
so back to sleep
I hope people retract there downvote

Oh, Mr. Dizzle's favourite film next week. Looking forward to it.

which?

10:51 PM
@AnkitSharma Man of Steel, of course.

lol
Now there is BvS too, so i got confused

That's not yet on TV, though. That was just in cinema a few months ago.

Q: What song is Margaret in "The Conjuring 2" listening to with her headphones before going to sleep?

KniteBefore she goes to sleep, she puts on her headphones and a fraction of a song can be heard. It somehow sounded like it's from The Beatles.

why this one is open ;O
4;23 AM, i should sleep, so that i can wakeup ebfore afternoon ;D

@AnkitSharma I voted to close it a while ago, swear.

OK, so i sacrificed one question to open another ;D

11:04 PM
@AnkitSharma Awww. Get some sleep! I will more than likely be up with you all night.

Good night
hahahah

> Do you know what I hear? Nothing. No footsteps up the stairs. No hovercraft out the window. No clickety-click of little spyders. Do you know why?...Because right now, the Pre-Cogs can't see a thing.

11:28 PM
@NapoleonWilson Sorry to ping you :) but do you have any reference utilities I could use for making my own feeds? I have a grasp of GAS and JS but i'm not sure where to start. I don't want a hand out with all the answers but something.... perhaps a meta post that talks about it or something.

@NapoleonWilson Matt wants a version of the HNQ top 30 feed for A&C...

Reading an rss feed would be a start I suppose and associate it to a bot account. Why did you make it a webapp?

@Matt Well, it's not really that hard. I don't know what to tell you, though, other than the general Google Apps Script documentation and the standard tutorials for RSS feed handling.

@Catija I had assumed he would have made the connection but thanks for helping.

Q: What happened to Jim Paprocki's brother?

Git GudI recently watched Locked Up Abroad's episode Plane Crash Marijuana. A key character is Jim Paprocki's brother (whose name I can't recall). In the episode it isn't explained what ever happened to him when Jim left. So... What happened to Jim Paprocki's brother?

11:34 PM
@Matt I don't know. I actually know zero about web development so I just used what I stumbled across and seemed to work.

@NapoleonWilson That is what I am reading now. You are right. It should be straightforward once I dive in.
Ah ok.

@Matt I can give you the source of my feed, you just need to replace the site then, I guess.

@NapoleonWilson You could email him the code and he could edit it so that it works for A&C :P I don't know what I'm talking about, though, so I could be utterly wrong.

@NapoleonWilson If you are comfortable with that I won't say no.

Or not. YAY!

11:36 PM
@Matt No, no problem, as said, it's really a piece of cake.

If this was an SO question I would have been DV'd and VTC'd to oblivion by now.

In fact I can just throw it into chat as well:
function doGet()
{
var feed = UrlFetchApp.fetch('http://stackexchange.com/feeds').getContentText();
var document = XmlService.parse(feed);
var root = document.getRootElement();
var atom = XmlService.getNamespace('http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom');
var entries = document.getRootElement().getChildren('entry', atom);
for (var i = 0; i < entries.length; i++)
{
var id = entries[i].getChildText('id', atom);
if(id.substr(0, 14) != 'http://movies.')
entries[i].detach();
}
feed = XmlService.getCompactFormat().setLineSeparator('\n').setEncoding('UTF-8').setIndent(' ').format(document);
That's all. Make that a Google Apps Script and publish it as a webapp. Then make a chatbot with the app's adress as feed source.

the chatbot part is the thing I am fuzzy on. Do i need to tell people about it so it does not get sacked? Or as long as I do nothing sneaky I should be fine?

@Matt No, it's just a regular feed. You see the questions that occasionally get posted into the chatroom by some automated service? It's exactly that, just with another feed source.
(By the way, chat seems to post-process links in messages, so in the links in my code up there, you need to actually prepend an http://

@Matt You're a RO; you should be able to just add a new feed here.

11:40 PM
Hey rand. Yes. I saw that which is what prompted me to think about this.
How is the vote going? Assuming you are following that at all.
@NapoleonWilson Thanks for help on this btw

@Matt No problem. If you want all the HNQs and not just the top 30, here's the way to change that.

@Matt So far the results are worse for Remain than many had hoped, and the pound is plummeting against other currencies :-/

@Randal'Thor Three pennies... not really that much of a plummet.

@NapoleonWilson I have seen that post a few times in the last couple of days? the only way to address that from what I can tell is to parse the data from the main page and post that as my feed? What there something else I was supposed to see

@Matt I don't know. All it does is propose for the feed to be extended. I don't know any other ways to do it. Apparently the HNQs don't even have an API at all. It's like SE wants them to be a mystery. ;-)

11:50 PM
Oh. I misunderstood. I thought you were proposing the solution is there. You were telling me the way to a solution, in theory, will start there.

Now, unfortunaly only the way to the solution is there. ;-)
