@ypercubeᵀᴹ That would require opening the profile, going to the Reputation tab... Seems like too much trouble when the top bar is already there with all the information needed to confuse him. :)
This thread is a mess. Please don't edit the same post to ask various questions. If the question is new, feel free to submit it as new i.e. using the Ask Question link. @TomV Being in the EU, giving us freedom to work anywhere in Europe without a visa, has given me many amazing opportunities. There doesn't appear to be any significant disadvantage to remaining. plus I'm not a racist! Immigration isn't the problem that people want us to believe it is. That & the Leave Campaign is just full of shit and outright lies: medium.com/im-trying-to-fact-check-brexit
@Phil I can't form a real opinion on it, Britain has a special status in the EU compared to Belgium, I only think both campaigns aren't necessarily honest
My main problem is with the Euro, not that it exists, but that we have a monetary union without a real union otherwise
@Phil due to generally agreed worldwide legislation even if we weren't in the EU you would still have the right to work in the EU so don't panic
My gut feel is that I want us to be in but this EU ... they need a shock to change, real change not just the odd "when it might suit them concession"
@TomV Actually although that appears to be the worlds opinion it's been proven time and time again that that is not really the case, pretty much every law we have tried to prevent has been over-ruled by the rest of the EU
You'd think this "special status" might mean something, but it appears to just mean "if we leave, many others may follow"
Whilst it may sound bad, I think the EU needs us to leave to allow europe to build something new and better ... I like the EU and what it stood for when it was founded but its come too far and lost it' way
@TomV Yeh ... part of my reason for wanting the EU to reform ... a currency shared by the whole of europe would never work
I strongly believe that if member states can have their own economic policy and tax policy they should also have their own monetary policy with a free floating currency
And all this talk about immigration, I think is mostly bloat ... i really don't care about who comes to england as long as they are contributing to our economy instead of coming over purely to drain (we should be able to control that a small amount but not to the degree that leave campaigners are demanding here)
I'm still torn ... I want to remain, but not in this EU :( ... I want to remain in Europe but not the EU, but leaving the EU might politically be a headache situation to resolve and our politicians here are proven morons.
Exactly that's what the EU was originally about, finding a few politicians that really care and can take a common sense view on it is the hard part
I've been watching Nigel Farage go nuts in the EU from the past few years lately, whilst I think he personally is completely bonkers, he's had the right idea ... the EU has lost its way
People are not blind. The question is confusing and not well formatted. Plus it has both (questioning and answers) parts. The site has a clear distinction. Questions should be put in questions and answers should be put in answers. Not at the same place. — ypercubeᵀᴹ7 mins ago
I've edited your answer and voted to reopen. In the mean time, you can read the various sections on questioning and answering here: How the site works — ypercubeᵀᴹ1 min ago
Voted to reopen, although it's still not clear what they are after. I guess it might be clear for Oracle folks.
If i can prove to that gov that I am there contribute there's no reason why I would be denied a visa
If I just want to freeload and leech off a country why should I have any more rights than a tourist?
@ypercubeᵀᴹ it sounds like the question is more one of "As an EU citizen I have the right to go wherever the hell I want and not have any border control ask any questions"
that for me personally ... feels a bit complacent when we consider that people in general can't be trusted to make good calls ... how long before the EU decide something retarded like "Iraw is now a member" and then the UK have no control over anyone in iraq coming here purely to cause trouble
If the genuine reason for the move is to work any country we be daft to deny you a visa
The fact that a visa is required though is stupid ... every entrance on every border should work that way IMO
but that's just a trust thing between nations ... not being in the EU for me means not being dictated to from Brussels, that doesn't mean the UK borders are shut ... if it means that EU borders are shut then they will have bigger issues IMO
In the UK a key point we have more non EU workers here than we do EU, so it's hardly an issue to us that people come here ... I think the UK just wants the right to say ... sure come here, but work, don't leech, and the EU just wants to tell everyone "go where you like and work if you want to"
@Darth_Wardy We have a lot of customers in France and I certainly would hate to have to wait and present documents every time I cross the border though
@TomV I know the feeling, I work for a UK based company that is subsidiary of a French company
The bulk of our clients are french or german
Don't get me wrong here, it'll be a pain I think if UK leaves the EU, but i'm thinking that for the greater good the healing process may requires us to do so
OK good. I'm a junior/mid-level DBA looking to get some skill-up-type training, something like Brent Ozar's Senior DBA class. Job has offered to pay for it, provided I can find something that doesn't require travel, but I'm in the middle of nowhere so it's basically online ILT or nothing. I have Pluralsight already and have been through a lot of the cheap subscription-based exam training (461, 462, 464 et al). I'm struggling to find anything. Any thoughts?
Ah, I have been looking at schedules and hadn't seen those come up yet. I went to one in OKC a couple years ago and really enjoyed it, I definitely would attend another
@A_V While re-installing you might consider an upgrade to a more recent version, I don't know enough specifics of the environment but you could give it a thought
A question stating "Hey, I'm trying to install this patch, but I got this error, so I tried to run a repair but this throws this error" could work better in your case
Alright, so the long story is : trying to install sp3 on sqlserver 2008R2 sp1 basically it told me there were missing files in the windows/installer folder
some guy did some cleanup on the server and probably deleted them to save space (the system drive is 30gb)
after copying the files back there using the script that microsoft provides the patch started and is now installing. Time will tell if it actually fails halfway through but whatever it's working as of now.
update: it failed. https://i.imgur.com/pmAx257.png
@TomV Well ultimately the quality of the question is the root cause of that, which is why we place poor questions on hold. Answering in comments is just the wrong approach IMO.
Not to make this specifically about that question, I'm speaking generally.
@Lamak After 1) failing to add a soccer tag, 2) not explaining my jokes at great length, 3) not posting decent answers and 4) incessant sloppy reviewing I don't think so no
@Lamak Was that a swimming pool your team was playing in last night? Jeebus
I am using a Java based program and I am writing a simple select query inside that program to retrieve data from the PostgreSQL database. The data come with the header which is an error for the rest of my codes.
How do I get rid of all column headings in an SQL query? I just want to
print out ...
