I can see I'm going to have to be logged into three chat servers on a daily basis now ;) I also hang out on chat.MSO regularly and occasionally chat.SO
trying to get a little more action on the dba site and I've burnt through about half of what I want. I'm trying to use up my VtC ... you should too. We need to make sure we're shaping the site.
I mean, yeah, I got some mileage out of some of those questions and a mortarboard, but if I don't need to hit the documentation or run up a test case for a question... does it really need to be asked during private beta?
Yeah, I don't know why people want OS level security on any but the basest of circumstances ... let the database handle it, let the DBAs hand out access to the database in particular
I can see the luxury of letting the sysadmins manage the passwords etc, but I don't see the need
If you're debugging a DML, then the DDL is secondary. If you're not debugging a DML, then why worry about the DML at all, unless you're discussing profiling, which is a form of debugging. Otherwise the DML doesn't need to be present. This presents a null DML over a DDL ;)
being new to private beta's, i see brian's comment: "This question is not a good question for the private beta. Can you delete it and ask it again when we go public".. what makes it a good question for public beta, but not for private?
@DTest I dont' see it as a good question in either way. This is a site for objective definable answers. "what's a good podcast/blog" is subjective no matter how you cut it. I don't think it's acceptable now or in the future.
I am one man, I do not make all the rules, so I can only provide my input.
