I've been searching for the last 10 minutes on how to select a color for a tool like Fill and Spry in INKSCAPE.

No idea

I dont use inkscape. I either use Illustrator, Xara Desogner or Scintilla for my vector graphics (and spraying is especially simple with the text editor)

Are any of them free?

And available for Linux?

I guess I'll have to stick with inkscape

Spray paint actually sprays the vector you've selected. That's bizzare. How do I spray a color?

Scintilla is free, so is vim

I'm confused. I want a vector editing program not a text editor

All data is just some kind of markup whether it be postscript, SVG or PDF.

If you just need random processes then a text editor is fine.

Wouldn't that be like the assembly for art. That'd be too complicated.

Depends on what you do

for example the image im currently working on is this:

its completely done in a text editor

The advantage i have is that now i can rotate the image, since i can directly manipulate the display matrix

Anyway the spray sounds exactly doing what it was intended. You cant really spray paint color the same way as in pixel graphic inside vector apps. Though you can get the same result via other means.

But if a guy is unable to figure out how to use the spray tool. You shouldn't recommend editing raw data using a text editor to him/her. LOL! ;)

because spraying something random is much easier in text editor than any of the mainstream vector editing suites

Well, obviously they have to be because what your essentially doing is drawing instructions for the computer. Unlike raster graphics where you can just dispense the creation history. That creation history is what makes the graphics vectors so it can not be entirely discarded.

But im much more technically oriented than most. The reason i dont use inkscape is that i cant stand its napping behavior.

Snapping being the half or reasons to use a gui.

I really need to find one more model to shoot with in Orlando. Think it would be weird to put up a portfolio with only one subject as far as portraits / retouches go

I dont see why it wouldnt work it works for nude models
