2:22 PM
@HassanAlthaf I would like to know what you've been doing lately.

Hi
I have been coding lately.

Cool.

What kind of code? besides like that JavaFX stuff

By the way, what do you think when others want to show you code?
@Quill the one that CaptainObvious just posted in the 2nd, I guess

@Gustavo6046 I love to read code.

2:24 PM
oh wait, it's JavaFX as well so nevermind.

:P

@HassanAlthaf I never really had the time to review others' code because they're large and difficult, but I love coding too.

@Quill Other than JavaFX and Java, I was learning a bit of Angular and Node a few weeks back. Looks like I forgot everything.

I prefer C++ because it's slightly easier.

@Gustavo6046 You can try doing small parts at least.

2:25 PM
Of what?

@HassanAlthaf I've been learning Node recently, it's pretty cool
but I need to buy a domain soon to test it on ;-;
do you guys have domains?

You can try
heroku
They give a sub domain and an environment to test it on
Although there are limitations on the free package.

I was using redshift for a free domain but I haven't set it up yet

I am planning to make my new personal site in Node.js
but then I will need a server. My host doesn't support Node

I am doing more documentation for MyAntSim. It is currently just html and css files, but I wish it could be online as well ;_;

2:29 PM
@Quill Why would you need a domain to test it on?

serving content to a browser is a bit different to command line

I'm running a test server for OGNext which is perfectly accessible without domain.

and I'd rather setup a domain to run it on
than a local server

So you need external hosting.

I am not affliated with DO, but they are the provider I use. They do not hold your hand as much as other providers, but they are quite cheap (cheaper than AWS).

2:31 PM
I love DO.

If you have no knowledge of Linux, forget using them

lel
Is there any way to run node apps in the background

@DanPantry That looks neat.

Than getting locked from doing other stuff

@HassanAlthaf Yes.
You can use a process manager.

2:31 PM
Oh, nice, how?

My favourite is pm2.

Because, we do node start
wait no
i even forgot how to start node apps

It's a command line app that takes in some json configuratoin files. It'll maintain some information about the node app in the background.
You'll be able to start, restart, push out new deployments etc without downtime using it.
And if you pay for the premium subscription, you also get a nice online dashboard called keymetrics

Oh, thanks a lot man.

No problem :)

2:33 PM
I am waiting for ES6 to be widely
used

It's supported about 97% by the XS6 engine

I mean like supported

And about half of it is supported by Node 5.4

Oh, I am waiting for complete support.

The thing missing now generally tend to be syntactical stuff - like destructuring.
And annotations (which are actually es7..)

2:33 PM
My goal for this year is to be with Java.
Web and Java was last year.
Gonna ditch web this year. enough of it. (4 years.. :/)

I love the web :-) but I only find it bearable because NodeJS makes it interesting
CSS is the bane of my existence

lol I hate CSS too
Quite annoying sometimes.
I actually hate designing.
I like the backend more.

I am really awful at designing stuff

Same
Looks like you love JS.
I do too.
But waiting for ES6.

1 hour later…
3:51 PM
back
Just made another project, ConTicTacToe
with flexible width, height and player number

4:03 PM
Nice.
Make it open source.
It'll be fun

what language/s @Gustavo6046?
!!youtube my heart will go on

@Phrancis relevant listening

Good grief. The worst thing you can do to us poor French Canadians is post anything by Celine Dion.... ;p

Zak
@Mat'sMug Ooh, that looks fun.
Definitely be writing something for that today

4:19 PM
@Phrancis lol
Or Ginette Reno

@Phrancis What's wrong with Celine Dion?

@SimonForsbergMcFeely Nothing if you grew up outside of Quebec, Canada... But there, she is played on the radio constantly and has been since @Mat'sMug and I were young children

Poor you.

@Phrancis Ah, that explains it.

But, this is veering quite off-topic so let's leave it at that :)

4:34 PM
It doesn't work very well at the moment.
And yes, C++.

@HassanAlthaf I do :-) it is my favourite language.
My new speaker system just arrived
Hooked it up
Didn't realise how loud it was until I put it on snapchat

Funniest Monkey in The Wild?

@Phrancis sorry to hear you grew up to 105,7 Cité Rock Matante

LOL (literally)

Yea my mouse broke now I need to use a touchpad :/

4:42 PM
@Mat'sMug My dad's music was really cool (he had a really nice stereo back when CDs were cutting edge), I'd come back from school and he was blasting Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin... but my mom's... not so much

Well @Phrancis you surely don't know what it is to hear to Metallica.

I do, he had a bunch of those too ;)
