@Bob whhhyyy?

Anonymous
also, it seems you are on Windows 7, why again are you using IE6?

@PatoSáinz Why not?
IE1.5 on Windows 7

Bob
@PatoSáinz Because browser testing. Because I have to support IE7 and I noticed a IE6 download. Because containerisation is fun.
@CanadianLuke Doesn't have IE10, bah.

12:30 AM
Why do you have to support IE7? Microsoft sure as hell doesn't...

12:59 AM
It's finally here
Bit expensive compared to cable
Cable is 100 INR per month, the basic plain is 5x that
hm

1:43 AM
16.98 here for the best plan
10.98 for basic
which is not bad

1:58 AM
@CanadianLuke I Remember that browser. Spry mosaic is pretty neato too, used to use it in 96
It was the alpha build that I used for spry (buggy as hell)
Remember gopher protocol handler back then too?

Wooo my kid just figured out how to roll over! :D

Wonder if there are any servers

Anonymous
@Dave gopher servers?

Bias lighting rig is up

@JourneymanGeek picture

@PatoSáinz I need to wait for night for that
Unless you mean the actual setup

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek both :)

@PatoSáinz uploading quick pix now
I didn't really document this well :(
@PatoSáinz imgur.com/a/77X22
its wired directly into the power supply so it turns on and off when my PC does
still working out how to attach them

Is that like an ambi-light?

@MichaelFrank kinda, but its just one colour

2:17 AM
You guys want this question?

Q: Faulty Toshiba fan after clean

thanasiskantToday my friend brought me the laptop of his dad for dust clean and format.(installed Lubuntu 15). The laptop was a Toshiba Satellite L300-2C4 2Gb ram and Pentium Dual-Core T4200 at 2.00 GHz! After the cleaning i assembly it and push the power key to start! All good BUT the fan starts spinning a...

@Seth on topic for us
kick it over. Pretty sure someone would find a dupe but meh

all yours :)

wtf, how is there an Empire player on Republic Fleet

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek man you have to clean up your desk

@PatoSáinz yeah, its an ongoing battle

Anonymous
2:27 AM
@JourneymanGeek attach them to what, your screen?

@PatoSáinz behind the screen

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek double sided 3M tape

@PatoSáinz need to get some then
and temporary

Bob
> A few years ago I saw some Israeli escape artists has prepared triazidomethane, which I wouldn’t touch with somebody else’s ten-foot titanium pole.
> You can isolate the stuff, it seems, as long as you handle it properly. It turns out that brutal treatments like, say, touching it with a spatula, or cooling down a vial of it in liquid nitrogen – you know, rough handling – make it detonate violently. I think that staring hard at it is OK, though.

also, you may want to mount your LEDs on something with a lower specific heat than wood, in case your LEDs heat up too much (look up their power draw on their datasheet)

2:31 AM
they hardly warm up

Anonymous
@Bob Things I would't wank to work with?

the whole strip is ~7.5w it seems

Anonymous
I've read too much of that blog section I know it by heart

but I'm only using a third per monitor
I'm more worried about the connections

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek why?

2:33 AM
@PatoSáinz its over complicated and taped over since I forgot to buy heatshrink

@Bob LOL

Anonymous
also, at what voltage are you feeding those LEDs? do you have a datasheet?

12V and no

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek can you find one?

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek meh it's cool if you solder it (you know how to solder good, right?) and you just tape it

Anonymous
you just have to not be a messy taper and it'll look, work, and stay fine

@PatoSáinz my solder joints are solid
my tape's a bit messy

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek are they a blob or a line? (if it were a line, taping it in an orderly manner would be a piece of cake)

hm, they're counterfeit lineman's joints
(stright wire, other one's wrapped around it)
My tape's shittyu tho

2:36 AM
@JourneymanGeek they are good then

@Bob The Fire HDX 8.9" (4th gen / 2014) is exactly what I needed with my slow-ass Internet connection (slow meaning, it's up to 33 Mbps when I get full speed with carrier aggregation at 2 AM, but it's awful during congested hours) :D

Might replace them with a pair of these dx.com/p/… in future ;p

Download 1080p Amazon Video, then watch it on my HDTV via HDMI. Can't do that on a PC.

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek so 7.5W @ 12V, that'd be 625 mA

Anonymous
they shouldn't heat up (nor the power supply) that much

2:38 AM
@PatoSáinz I'm not using all of it too
lol
tapping power off my desktop's power supply ;)

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek oh right I forgot that

Installed the molex cable on it, connected that to a modded molex/floppy adaptor, and soldered cables to those connectors

Bob
@allquixotic that's the one with mhl right?

3:02 AM
@Bob Yeah
it's at least 2.0 since it can charge and render at the same time

Bob
3:18 AM
@allquixotic ah.
> In general, we chemists shy away from compounds with lots of single bonds between the elements on the right-hand side of the periodic table. Those guys tend to have a lot of electron density on them, and bonding between them is a careful, arm’s-length affair, sort of like porcupines mating.

@Bob So AtRn is something you don't want to touch with a 10 mile spatula?

Bob
@allquixotic What's that? o.O

@Bob Astatine Radon single bond? :P
Or does it need the other type of -ion with it... like Chlorine
or Hydrogen

Bob
I haven't a clue :P

@allquixotic Is SW:TOR easy to get into?

3:37 AM
@MichaelFrank to just play OOCly? yes
I RP, and that's not easy to get into

Ahh okay. Yea, never been into RP.

3:59 AM
Arma 3 is pretty fun if youre into real rp
:-)

Bob

> The perchlorate anion is in a high oxidation state, and what goes up, must come down. A rapid drop in oxidation state, as chemists know, is often accompanied by loud noises and flying debris, particularly when the products formed are gaseous and have that pesky urge to expand. If you take the acid up to water-free concentrations, which is most highly not recommended, you’ll probably want to wear chain mail, because it’s tricky stuff.
> You can even go further and distill out the perchloric anhydride (dichlorine heptoxide) if you have no sense whatsoever. It’s a liquid with a boiling point of around 80 C, and I’d like to shake the hand of whoever determined that property, assuming he has one left.

4:48 AM
Wow, great font compatibility in Edge!

Bob
@AnnonomusPenguin ?

@Bob it's was an ad I saw on a webpage
That's not the font of Edge's logo

Bob
What's not what font? :S

@Bob "Microsoft Edge" isn't in the right font

Bob
shrug

Anonymous
5:06 AM
@AnnonomusPenguin If I was presented with that ad I would have said it's some malware disguised as Edge

also, yea, Segoe UI for everything

5:24 AM

4 hours later…
9:03 AM
just watched The Martian on my HDTV streaming it over HDMI from my Fire HDX
good movie, really made me think

9:34 AM
It is
I watched it last week ;p

Woof

@qasdfdsaq release price for the oculus is out
and I've built my bias lighting ;p

:D
All the interesting things happen when I'm offline, obviously
Including losing/forgetting my camera bag on the plane. Twice.

o0
dude
you totally need to do what I do and run a checklist ;p

"Checklist for getting off plane:
Bag.
Phone.
Run around like a headless chicken screaming "We're all gonna die!""

9:47 AM
Kinda like that, yes
"Wallet right pocket, phone left pocket, keys. Keys? at home. Backpack?"

I do checklists for packing/preparing, but never for getting off a bus/plane

I have a horribad memory

I always do that mentally, but I'm so not accustomed to flying with two cabin bags that I keep forgetting one of the cabin bags

and I used to have terrible panic attacks

I'm very good at telling just cause it "feels wrong" if I don't have my phone/keys/wallet in the correct pocket, or backpack on my back.

9:48 AM
and blah

It's just been like, 3 years since I carried the camera case as well, so yeah.

I need to drop by the army store tommorrow
I was supposed to on monday

I've cured my panic attacks on planes
Instead of fearing turbulence, I treat it as a free rollercoaster ride
And it becomes fun

oh, I used to have them in crowds in general

It seems everyone I get on well with has or has had some form of social anxiety

Rather curious :-P

lol
Could be that people with social anxiety share similar interests ;p

Perhaps, or just tolerate each other more than they tolerate the general public xD
At one point in my life everyone I got on well with was a lesbian.

Anyhow, 26 hours of travelling, and eating and drinking nothing but airline food, I'm now home
Unfortunately the only food I have at home is ice cream. On the plus side, I have ice cream.

9:54 AM
I don't think I know any actual lesbians.
Few of my friends are pansexual or Bi tho

Check my Facebook friends list if you need a starting point

I don't use facebook XD

It's public

Bob
10:31 AM
...forget the checklist, you need to start tying things to your wrist :P

My microsoft band was tied to my wrist. I still managed to leave that at home.

Bob
@qasdfdsaq Where you made the mistake was untying it from your wrist :P
Hmm... that would be a good use for those giant bags of cable ties too...

Lol
Big problem with things permanantly tied to your wrist is when you have to go through airport security seven times in a day :-/

Bob
oh yea, forgot about that

Didn't set off any of the metal detectors though. Even when I had plenty of metal on me.
Also the BAnd needs to be untied from your wrist for charging, but that's another issue

10:44 AM
hmm, weird
I usually have the opposite problem.

Bob
@qasdfdsaq Do they still use metal detectors?
I thought they were all about the xrays and body scanners now.

Even minute metal films (e.g. inside a fishermans friend package) set the alarms off

Nah, the only airport I went through today that even had the body scanners was some small-town airport in Thailand, and it wasn't in use
@Hennes I'm pretty sure different airports have different sensitivity settings, plus they change over time

Aye.

Regardless there were tons of people getting pulled over for manual searches cause they set off the alarms, yet it didn't go off at all despite me going through with my wallet, passport, watch, belt, and a pocket full of coins.
My claim to fame was coming out of a secure area in France having entered through a metal detector, and accidentally finding a knife in my pocket I forgot I had.

10:54 AM
lol
I tend to wear a jacket or hoodie when I fly
anything like a watch or wallet goes in there

Meh, from the minute I got off in Singapore to the minute I got off back in the UK, I hadn't worn my jacket a single time. Just too warm.

Oh the idea is I have something I can put through the Xray scanner with space for my incidentals

I bought a new wallet for that.
Instead of cards in one pocket, notes all over the place, and a pocket of coins and headphones, and crappy paper/receipts everywhere, everything now fits neatly inside the one wallet. So when going through the scanners I just have to take out the one wallet, phone, and watch.
Usually stick them beside the laptop since they always make you take that out of your bag now too
Mind you my house keys and six USB sticks were in my jacket pockets the whole time
It was handy for that, if nothing else :-P

11:12 AM
Grah. Upload profile picture to an agency (size 167x167).
Error. Picture is to small. It needs to be at least 160x160
Now I do not have an A+ in math, but the last time I checked 167 > 160

@Hennes They might be talking points rather than pixels.
Or just had a really bad website. :P

It worked after I scaled it up to 200x200 (just added a white border).
And then they made me select a small square of about 170x170 from it.

Bob
@MichaelFrank tf is a point

So typo in at least desk ?

11:32 AM
@Bob tf?
Oh... a point is 1/72th of an inch.
So at 72dpi, 1 pixel = 1 point.

Bob
@MichaelFrank Oh, those points. If they're talking points without specifying resolution then that's useless too :P

11:48 AM
sEXY pOINTS
@bOB: i'M REALLY LIKING THESE NEW HEADPHONES.

Bob
So much that they broke your capslock :P
@qasdfdsaq Which headphones are they?

@Bob Sennheiser CX 5.00G

Bob
Ahh. In-ears.

Earphones... eh
Well, I wasn't going to buy a full-size over the head set at an airport on a panic buying spree

Bob
11:52 AM
I wonder how they compare to the cheaper CX 3.00.
Or the budget CX 300 ii :P

Apparently, less bassy and more balanced
Also, they're the best they had at the shop. Everything else was cheap trash or Beats. Wait, that's redundant.

Bob
"Non-removable cable" is listed under cons... wow
I don't think I've ever seen removable in-ears.
@qasdfdsaq Well, no. Beats isn't cheap :P

Many high-end sets have them (Most of the Shures for example. My se535s did, so do the 430s)
@Bob Cheap trash with an expensive price tag? :-P

Bob
lol, that works too

I was genuinely worried when I walked into the shop and all I saw was a huge stack of Beats headphones and speakers
But yeah, came across this hidden gem in the under-the-counter stack
Proper 3-button Android remote too
Honestly not bad for £60-ish
Also, in answer to your previous question of what can you get for $5, well the answer is the freebie disposable earbuds airlines throw at you

Bob
11:59 AM
@qasdfdsaq That's $5?!
lol

Well no, it's free. But they look like the sort of stuff you'd get for $5 from a corner store

Bob
@qasdfdsaq I really wonder what you'd think of the Pistons now.
They go for something like 20 USD.

These aren't even that bad looking. I took a pair off the plane but haven't tried them
It's been over 10 years since I bought any earphones costing less than £50

Bob
@qasdfdsaq Heh. I've picked up $2 earphones from random discount shops on a lark. They're... put it this way, I wouldn't use it for phone calls at landline quality.

Economy class gets these pairs of in-ears that look like the sort you'd get with a crappy phone. Premium class and above gets you over-the-head ones but no idea if they're actually better. Never bothered using them.
Got any reviews of the Pistons?

Bob
12:03 PM
Uhh... I'll be afk for probably 30-60 mins
Some people say the v2 is better than the v3
Phone typing and searching sucks :/

lol
Theses are the ones you get on the plane
Honestly, I've seen worse
Got some fake ones like these in China for $3 once:
Umm... wow. These are TERRIBLE.
I've always seen canal-phones as the hallmark of quality but these are literally the worst I have ever heard.

12:53 PM
@JourneymanGeek ?

._.
Wrong window.

But I liked the otter :(
I think it was an otter

It was an otter.

:D

Bob
1:15 PM
Eh, they're a handy on-the-go set that survives hash treatment pretty well.
I like the mic placement and the shape (ear comfort) of v3, but v2 had better isolation, and I think I prefer its sound a little bit

And they are pretty much sold out 100% of the time
Sigh, I wonder if I'll ever get a notification email from this flipkart.com/mi-in-ear-headphone-piston-design/p/… ;p

Bob
@HackToHell ..they're always available

Not in india :/

Bob
@HackToHell I don't exactly buy them in aus
ibuygou, banggood, etc etc

Oh stores like dx ?

Bob
1:26 PM
I don't know if dx stocks them or if it's trustworthy for this

1:40 PM
@Bob They look a bit cheesy, but I like the button placement
Two on one side, one on the other, makes it a lot easier than trying to feel three buttons on the same side through a pair of gloves

Bob
@qasdfdsaq that's good, but the fact it's at the split in the cord... that's annoying
v3 puts all buttons in one side (harder to feel) but it's on the right cord after the split

Eh, I don't mind it actually, I'd prefer them to be lower down than most
Need to go through all my photos at some point, see if there are any more gems in there like this one

Bob
@qasdfdsaq I tend to use the mic to figure out which side's which :P

Lol.
I suppose if there's no shape difference, though getting it wrong is hardly a big issue
These Sennheisers I have different housings so it'd be hard to fit one into the wrong ear
Same with my previous Shures and a-Jays.
@JourneymanGeek Isn't that more just lighting lighting than bias lighting?
(As in, shouldn't the room be lit?)

Bob
@qasdfdsaq yea, v3 also has a slant. v2 doesn't

1:47 PM
@qasdfdsaq maaybe

@Bob I can see why that might make the V2 more confusing

but most folk use it in darker rooms

Blargh, 26 hours on the move really messes with your body clock. I have no idea what time of day it is, all I know is it isn't the time of day I feel like it is
@JourneymanGeek I'm tempted to use it in the darker parts of my room, since behind my monitors is actually the darkest bit
Actaully I've not shown you guys my setup have i...

I think I'm the one who is constantly showing his off XD
@qasdfdsaq for what little I spent on it, it works well ;p

Q: Why I'm not able to set structured data / rich snippet in my website?

Hiren PatelActually I am using Wordpress platform for my website and trying to set structured data for my website. I download Rich snippets plugin for the same. But still now I couldn't get any review stars displayed in Google search results. Can you guide me how to set? My site url: https://www.imobdev...

LOL. I commented "Your website offers WordPress developers for hire. imobdevtech.com/HireDevelopers/Hire-Wordpress-Developer. Why don't you hire one of them yourself?"

1:51 PM
@JourneymanGeek I thought the idea was to allow your monitors to "blend in" to a similar brightness background

Was that a bit harsh? ;)

@qasdfdsaq in darker rooms especially
I'm still experimenting with placement and mounting

"As of now, we are a team of 100+ masterminds working together & successfully finished 500+ projects of global clients. "
And they can't manage a bit of Google SEO?
Does this look a spammish question to anyone else?

That's...er... my setup >_>
But as you can see it's especially dark behind the monitors, so I'm temped by some bias lighting. It screws with my eyes without additional illumination

antec has a prebuilt one but its costlier and most reviews are that its not very bright. I have something like 20 LEDs per monitor
I mounted them seperately
@qasdfdsaq if you're lazy, and want something to test, ikea dioders arn't bad
they're warm white though, and most folk recommend 65K lights.
and yay
your desk is messier than mine ;p

1:56 PM
@JourneymanGeek I have cheapo "cool white" LEDs mounted under the nearside plank, but they're waaaay too blue
They claimed to be like, 3K but really are like, 8K
My desk is messier than anything else on the planet
This is with the cheapo "white" LED strip I mounted on the nearside. It's not actually behind the monitors but it's close-ish. As you can see the colour is way off
Oh hey I just noticed I have two pictures of my monitors on the picture of my monitors. Monitorception!
Now that you mention it, ooh jeez. That monitor on the right could do with some calibration...
