Need just a single UV to a question here
3
Q: Mechanize - Cannot press button

Luis SilvaI'm trying to code a bot for a game, and need some help to do it. Being a complete noob, I googled how to do it with python and started reading a bit about mechanize. <div class="clearfix"> <a href="#" onclick="return Index.submit_login('server_br73');"> <span cla...

@alecxe Yay, thanks a lot! :-D
I can bounty you back the rep another time :-)

don't worry, this is not a problem to me at all - I got that +100 on ELU for free anyway :)

Still, you must have lost a few privileges along with that 50 rep.

and I'm never getting them on ELU considering my English is non-native and horrible :D

12:58 AM
@alecxe did you get the UV you wanted?

@David almost, I got the required +5, but the question needs one more UV, since my vote does not count as I remember. Thanks.
@Quill-HATMANIAC try starting a bounty, it helped me with the same issue. Well, and asking for help here :)

a bounty? how is that going to get upvotes?

@alecxe done, and the tiger should be yours.

@David yay! Thanks!
@Quill-HATMANIAC this would attract attention and, if the answer is good, you would get upvotes. Same goes for a question. Believe me, I was there :)

1:10 AM
I can't seem to add one...

@Quill-HATMANIAC by the way, is there a requirement for a question to be posted during wb?..

@alecxe for what?

the flying tiger
btw, just got it, thanks again

I dont think so, but not 100% sure (I'm about 80% on that one)
@alecxe I saw

1:18 AM
@David it really proves that the answerer's vote on the question does not count
I think it was you who guessed that, right?

@alecxe yep. pops came by last night and confirmed that (I got a second bathtub!)

@David nice! So what is left to solve: Edward Edwards, Cleanup Crew and Onion Knight triggers and +3 more secret hats nobody found yet, correct?

1:38 AM
@Quill-HATMANIAC NooooO! The question needs to be at -3, you add your answer, and then the question goes +3. That question will not be yielding stripey orange air plains!

yeah
it was at -3 when I added the answer
then I and someone else voted the question up
and someone voted the answer up (you, IIRC)
so yes stripey orange will be mine
there we go
put a bounty on it

2:03 AM
@alecxe yes, but 3 more?? no way.
"stripey orange" there's a new one!
@alecxe as far as I know nobody knows "Edward Edwards" or "Onion Knight" and @BhargavRao is the only one to know Cleanup Crew. (he is keeping the trigger secret till later.)

thanks, I think I saw somewhere someone told about more unrevealed secret hats - I might have been under the influence of alcohol at that time though :)

@alecxe no, I know what you saw, but those users (I think) are just wrong.
they are probably going by the hat ids. The regular hat ids go up to 45, but skip some random numbers, so the logic goes there must be 45.

the total hat count is 41, right?

I think @balpha made it that way on purpose, the hat ids mean nothing. there are 41 hats.
@Quill-HATMANIAC yes
unless there is some "Last hat" or "late hat" gotten at the end of the bash. But I'm pretty sure all the hats were found on the 21st.
Look at this @Pops is wining at poker!
Documentation Beta definitely does not get a prize!
> 17 users from this site have earned a total of 29 hats!

3 hours later…
5:05 AM
@alecxe thanks, but someone downvoted the question, so I'm still 4 upvotes away

3 hours later…
8:17 AM
@David please don't abuse the moderator super ping like that

7 hours later…
2:55 PM
@balpha ok sorry.

2 hours later…
4:55 PM
Does anyone know of anyone who owns an Edwards Edwards hat?
I have a (rough) theory has to how it could be earned

5:21 PM
And would like to check it against existing data before testing

@GiantCowFilms I had written a script to scrape Edwards. Unfortunately it is on my other system

Using the leader-board?

Going through the process manually, you can search for Edwards here winterbash2015.stackexchange.com/leaderboard/network ...
Yeah...

I spent about 10 min

Eh, it mustn't be that tough

5:36 PM
Highest bounty earned so far on that site triggered it
huh

@HATMAN Can't be true at all. People on SO have got it at 50 bounty

Was it their first one?

Nah.

ok
Was it voted less than the highest answer?

5:40 PM
Too old to be sure :/

@BhargavRao I missed it!

Only Edwards and Onion to be found out

wow

Pops said he will feel sad if any of the hats remain unguessed.

Two days left?

5:42 PM
Looks like bounty experation has something todo with edwards

hmm, didn't think about that

Less than 2 days.

yikes

The thing is that means edwards might not be possible to get since it takes a while for bounties to expire

So I need 150 views on my questions in 1 and half days. 8.75k ...

5:44 PM
@BhargavRao Sorry, I'm rooting for our local, @David

@GiantCowFilms I didn't get you. :/

@David comes from blender.se like me, and he is currently in for first
so we are rooting for the home team :P (by extension, wishing you bad luck)

He is 1st, I doubt anyone can cross him.
@GiantCowFilms Aha, Thanks.

@BhargavRao You could tie him though
Anyone else got EE's so I can check my theory
BTW, how do you submit a hat solution to get the eureka?

Yeah. Over 9000 is the last "reachable" hat. Flying Tiger and Edwards are too far off for me.
@GiantCowFilms Mail to team@stackexchange.com (or team@stackoverflow.com)

5:48 PM
How do they know its me?

From your email id.

Link your account profile page

* Where n is an unknown number

Trying to find a pattern for N
Bouty size doesn't matter

5:59 PM
Yeah, true....

I'm starting to think an unaccepted answer that wins the bounty is what validates you for the hat

I remember putting that out.

Does SE mind if we send them shaky guesses?
Or do you have 2 or so shots at getting it right?

You have an unlimited number of guesses.

@Pops can I give you a guess here in chat?

6:03 PM
If you want everyone else to hate you if you're right.

Fine, email

So far, people have almost always announced that they're going to e-mail a guess in before they actually do it, or their e-mail addresses were super-obvious. But a link to the SE profile you want the hat on would be helpful.

Did
Now lemme go and check for one more pattern in case I am wrong

Oh, @Pops we can "choose" the site we want the hat? I thought it was MSE by default.

I've been giving it to people on MSE because nobody has specified.
It seemed like the natural default.
But you could have it anywhere.

6:07 PM
Damn, I should have specified SO. :)

You'll just have to earn a second one.

Oh snap
My email is wrong
should have double tripple checked that :/

How many "tubs" have you awarded?

so close!

@GiantCowFilms Did you send it to the wrong mail Id?

6:08 PM
Eighteen.

@BhargavRao no
My guess fell on its face
... potentially

Has anyone figured out onion knight yet?

18 hats for *11 secret

I haven't been keeping up to speed on the secret hat discovery business

29 mins ago, by Bhargav Rao
Only Edwards and Onion to be found out

6:10 PM
:/

Only Pops can confirm that though :D

The interesting thing I just noticed is that all the answers that earned this hat are rather long, extremely long

Also @quartata "Cleanup Crew" is not public still.
Though "Archimedes" has been awarded. So you can still win it.

Is there a way to find a history of questions with bounties
And I suck at SQL way to much for data.stackexchange

None that I know.

6:18 PM
Yep, you can still get Archimedes for Cleanup Crew, Edward Edwards and Onion Knight, although for CC you wouldn't be the first one.

@Pops Where did your hat go? It is unacceptable for the hat organizer not to wear one.

Oh, right. That was for a joke on Thursday and then I forgot to put it back on.

@Pops Guess #2 incoming

Glasses on!

Still not right
sad, cause all my test cases passed

6:24 PM
Guessing Edwards or Onion?

Edwards
Every singe second condition I have is squashed by this answer: hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/a/21042

I saw the hints

Also look out at Pops' replies for the guesses.

Is there a way to see when a bounty was initialized?

6:28 PM
Check out the history of the post.
Or the timeline

I wonder if the bounty needs to be awarded by the post owner
for that I need more test cases
Its hard finding failed test cases though
Anyone around here know of recently won bounties that didn't produce a hat
@Pops How exactly do we need to guess this?

Pretty exactly. If you look at all the individual trigger conditions, it'll seem complicated, but once you realize why they're all there, it'll make sense.

There seem to be a lot of them . . ..

@Pops Have anyone come near to Onion Knight?

6:33 PM
I need more failed cases

@BhargavRao Ilmari came closest, I think.

I'm looking for one to disprove a particular potential trigger

It's funny that Ilmari was the guy.
The brewer of "SOUP" knows what "Onions" are

Edwards failed to actually capture his mutineers. I wonder if a failure (to do something) is involved with this hat

^^ My list of possible factors, am I missing any, @Pops
(yeah I'm hint begging)
BTW, is it possible to find out when someone earned a hat?

Looks like a nice list.

6:42 PM
Nope. Afaik

I don't think hat-earned-times are available.

[feature-request] for next year

Yeah, while we are at it, being able to sort offered/earned bounties by date would be nice

Well, tis time for me to sleep. Bye

Hmm. How would that be useful outside the confines of hat pseudoscience?

6:46 PM
I doubt it would be useful.

It won't hurt
its always nice to have ways to sort these things
you have it for answers and questions, so why not bounties

All neutral things hurt, in the sense that the company has a finite/limited amount of dev time available.

Besides, looking for someones oldest or newest bounty is outside of hat pseudoscience, and something someone very might well try to do.
@Pops Yeah
Though I wonder how long it would take to add that feature in. I wouldn't say more than 20 min, but I don't know how things work over on your end.
Finally, hat pseudoscience is something that is a regular occurrence on this site, and features should be added for it :P
I don't see how any of the items on my condition list tie into Edward Edwards's history
Hermm...
He went looking for some mutineers, didn't find them, and then went into a reef. correct?
Edward Edwards. His name has repetition, that could be the reason it was chosen over William Blight . . .
. . . but why!?!

He did find them. The loss of his ship Pandora occurred after some mutineers were apprehended.

Ah
he found them
how did I get that mixed up :O
@Pops I see, okay
still not getting anywhere
The only detectable difference between this successful answer and this not successful answer. Is the source of the bounty, and the time difference between the proceeding answer and the boutny-receiving answer.
(I'm positing all this to see if someone else gets an idea from it)
Oh and the fact that the question was edited on one of them

7:22 PM
*Nothing I try can separate my two success test cases from my fail test cases. Cow is exasperated
Not a pattern in sight

@GiantCowFilms ok, I'm back.

I need examples of failed Edward hats
basically, posts that look about right but just didn't get the hat

hold on, let me open op my files
@GiantCowFilms here is one I have marked as "should of gotten but did not"

A: RubberduckParser 2.0 - Asynchronous Parsing

Hosch250Nested ternary conditionals are ugly. Ternary conditionals nested three deep are ugly to the third power: Status = _moduleStates.Values.Any(value => value == ParserState.Error) ? ParserState.Error : _moduleStates.Values.Any(value => value == ParserState.Parsing) ? ParserState.P...

Got that one already
This is the qid on SO for my other failed test case from @BhargavRao. 34302205
The problem is there are patterns if I take out one failed test case that I have a good reason to remove
Most promising decider seem to be weather the question was edited
intuitively, that is completely wrong
@David check this out. NONE of these answers got a hat: stackoverflow.com/questions/33829566/for-loop-with-pointer-in-c
Commander! I think I cracked the soviet code!
... I'm starting to feel like that guy in a beautiful mind, pulling patterns out of thin air
Cow gives up
@David do you have a link for your google account?
I wanna add you to the google sheet I made for collecting data and pattern searching.

8:14 PM
@Pops Can we throw single conditions past you?
or do I need to figure out the entire thingy, in all its details?

8:41 PM
Whole thing. It'd be too easy otherwise. People could just throw out an infinite number of ideas until they stumbled on the right one.
