@NateKerkhofs Toll-free was only a requirement for the national operator (BT). Often mobile companies which gave you free "standard" calls or even standard calls at £0.10 a minute would charge £0.50 for "toll-free". That's why you often get the non-toll-free number as it often works out more free than the toll-free one.
Anyhow, just about 5 months ago the regulator made toll-free numbers toll-free from all phones, but "national rate" numbers are even more confusing now.
Flagging to get around your inability to downvote is abuse.
Just as it is using answers as comments because you don't have the reputation to comment.
@qasdfdsaq i flagged i because it was incorrect and contained wrong info with no evidence! Just as the mod stated in his response to my flag; i should only flag in those circumstances - which i did! I'm writing my own answer -.-
until you can comment and/or downvote, there's really nothing you can do in the way of dealing with wrong answers, except to post an answer of your own that's more correct, get some upvotes, and then once you can comment, comment on how bad their answer is
the funny part is I have encountered many a StackOverflow answer that was helpful, but it was a comment on it that got me 100% of the way to the solution.
Something like a code block and then a comment saying "On .NET 4.0 and later you have to do this ..."
Of course they never bother editing the answer (either the commenter or the OP)
@JourneymanGeek "chat allows all 10k+ users across the network to act on chat flags" from meta.stackexchange.com/questions/125192/…. Is this still valid? If so where do I action chat flags?
@DavidPostill you can mark them as "valid" or "not sure" when you see a flag; it'll appear on your profile picture in the bottom left when there's a flag
I'd demonstrate, but people rightly tend to get upset when false flags are thrown, as it attracts a lot of undue attention to the room
@JourneymanGeek Aside from visiting diamond mods (of which you're the only active one who shows up here from SU), we only have two active non-diamond room owners, me and Bob. If you think that you, me and Bob are enough, there's no real need to add more, but adding a small number more wouldn't really hurt anything. Adding lots more would, obviously
@JourneymanGeek They made it way more powerful with kick-mute. Plus pinning, canceling stars...
That's why there's a certain level of social trust, i.e. we know this person, involved. More than just "he seems to be a good person based on <actions on main>".
@Bob FWIW, having dealt with @DavidPostill in private about an opportunity a few months ago, I have no reservations about trusting him to not go digging through (removed) messages and grabbing sensitive data.
But it's understandable if you don't have that same level of experience with him
@Bob I could say the same about everybody on SO. I've never met any of you face to face ... but I have a gut feeling having been around for a while that I know who to rely on ... ;)
And who is likely to be trolling or taking the mickey ...
Come to think of it, it'd be trivial to write a bot that just sits silently in chat and monitors the room and logs every message when it's posted, and doesn't respect removals, just keeps the logs forever (and all edits).
I wonder if any of the "folks" in the room do that. (and no, Cavil does not log anything)
@Bob It took me a second to understand who you were talking about, then I realized. Yeah, that person seemingly does, since you can apparently summon them even with saying one of their several alternate names without a ping O_O
I think she added that particular moniker to her list, so you probably just summoned her.
One of the last times she was here, she was like "dang, you guys are talking about me and using ^ (that expression you used), I'll have to add that to my search"
@allquixotic i need to get myself some wireless headphones! I often get the cord caught on door handles, sending them abruptly to the ground -.- It can't just be that does that?
@Bob It's pretty variable between 216, 234 and 243. I'm not sure what the variances are due to. Might be power savings on the SSDs that get canceled when maxCache engages. Or something.
@allquixotic Or spock ears ;). Fortunately my ears fit in the cans as designed. In your case you should check mashable.com/2012/08/03/cat-headphones which are specially designed for your anatomy.
"We did not start Red Fox to be another audio company, but rather a solution company. Once you experience your life with one of our devices, you’ll never go back to wires again. "
@JourneymanGeek With the combination of my age and going to Motorhead concerts when I was younger I don't think I would appreciate the finer points of those cans.
@JourneymanGeek They claim to be the world's loudest band. I can remember my ears ringing for several days after one concert :/ I also remember one guy who stuck his head inside one of the big bass speaker enclosures ... I suppose he is deaf ...
@qasdfdsaq There was a fun talk about things like the Linux OOM killer by Bryan Cantrill of Joyent (previously Sun). I think it's here: youtube.com/watch?v=-zRN7XLCRhc
Robust systems can handle OOM situations in the kernel. Linux really can't. :P
Course I have no idea what the background of your graphics problem is so I'm just pointing out how to do a BIOS update, not whether or not it'll fix your issue
IMO, that doesn't look like a BIOS issue, but it's worth a try, seeing several of the updates do claim to increase stability and reduce graphics problems.
@NateKerkhofs I don't think that it's ever essential to update your BIOS imo. Unless there are major issues of course. The graphics issue might not be due to an old BIOS version. Have you looked into the issue more thoroughly? (before going ahead and risking an update)
@R.Doto Here's what I know: it isn't there when I start the computer. Sometimes, when I'm adjusting my audio volume, I get a black flicker, and after that the issues start
I have already done a clean driver install using DDU and Geforce experience
And I still have the issue
I'm not quite sure when it started, but I think it started sometime since I upgraded to 10.
possibly around the time that I installed my new computer desk
I did install an SSD, but that was before I upgraded to 10
I'm going to make a question about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue.
@qasdfdsaq According to the information I last heard, they did
From what I heard about it, they temporarily withdrew it to fix a bug where the 1511 update would reset your privacy settings to default values without your consent
