So, dorfs. Sturdy, tenacious, craftsy, historians.
Probably not combatants by default.
You want cultural stuff in this mode, or just physical?

cultural too: what makes a dwarf a dwarf

Slapping down anything that might possibly fit, first.

i agree they are not combatants by default but they probably have Physique which makes them well inclined to certain kinds of combat

Contacts, Physique, Provoke, Rapport, Empathy, Will, Dwarfcraft (unique skill that's basically "dwarves are all arts-and-craftsy-engineery in their own way")...
I'm imagining dwarves as being very... socially minded, in a clannish sort of way.

absolutely agree on that count

12:34 AM
But also big with hands-on work.
DWARF (7): Empathy, Physique, Provoke, Rapport, Will, Stonecraft

that looks splendifferous

I might add a History skill too.
In case you're unaware, BTW, this is my Modes & Skills reference doc. It lists all the modes and skills in ARRPG, with point values and page numbers.

@BESW i was unaware! thank you :D

@doppelgreener Dwarf names: Grau'chi, Joiphil, Taiyurd, Shai, Al-Urjik, Vappyd, and Fissishin.

3:38 AM
@BESW what is that last one? xD

Fissishin = Physician = Doc.
On a more serious note, I have notes on Russian dwarf names if those would be helpful.

Yes please!
i'm not sure i should use joke names

This is highly structured and distinctly Russian; it's leftover from my 4e notes.
> Every dwarf has three names: the last, the first, and the second. The last is always the father's family name. The second is the patronymic, the final suffix indicating gender: "ovich" for a male and "ovna" for a female. Calling a person by the last name would be considered either very formal (with a title attached) or rude (without a title). The formal and respectful address is a combination of the first and second names, as in "Arkady Arkadievich." Use by a superior, it underlines the subordination. Friends use first names.
[pokes notes]
I've also got a pdf of all the "common" names for D&D 4e PC races, organised by race and gender.
That looks like this:
I can upload it if you want.

... some of these names are Gaelic, and that sounds like a fun thing to do anyway. (Like how a lot of Western names are Hebrew names.)
Please do?

Sent it via Messenger.

The Karzełek (diminutive of karzeł – a small one, used for describing non-fantasy dwarfs) or Skarbnik (the Treasurer) in Polish mythology live in mines and underground workings and are the guardians of gems, crystals, and precious metals. It is said, that they will protect miners from danger, and lead them back when they are lost. They will also lead them to veins of ore. To people who are evil or insult them they are deadly; pushing them into dark chasms or send tunnels crashing down upon them. Hurling rocks, whistling or covering one’s head are actions that are offensive to the Skarbnik; who...
These are dwarves of Slavic mythology.

are they something you are using?

They fall in line with the dwarves I'm already using pretty nicely.

ah ok

5:59 AM
Hm.
@BESW @trogdor I need some GMing advice. Machines like the Ground Pounder - I want to feature them, and I may do them up as just literally being an NPC that is hardware.

I have done that just one time

Seems reasonable. A dwarf sets it up and pushes "on."

I should still subtract a fate point from my reserves when I introduce them, in order to compensate for a mook with a stunt, shouldn't I.

Probably.

Alright. :)
