I love using Gnu Screen, except that once a day or so, my screen session just freezes and goes dead. Is this a known bug, and is there a patch or some fix?

I know cron can email us if a command output stuff when it runs. Is there a way to get those emails when I'm using heirloom-mailx with a smarthost? Or should I just use exim in smtp mode only, nullmailer or ssmtp?
