I am probably the most vocal of our mods, but I avoid taking action, instead encourage the community.

I was just reading through the mods comments on the meta post. I am quite surprised by his demeanor.

@alexanderpas, I still take action regularly, just closing posts that should be on SU quickly because for a short while the community was answering them. So I just had to close them and post why. Now they do it on their own.

Just because we do electronics does not mean we are the place to help someone buy a computer power supply.

@Kortuk off-topic on SU -- shopping advice.

I know, he pointed out he was kicked off of SU, so I explained that shopping is not on topic on SO in general.

People were jumping on it trying to answer it as quick as it came up, but due to that the community was not trying to close it

That seems to have been resolved now

It drives me crazy when people answer questions that are in the process of closing as an exact duplicate; I'm always half tempted to downvote them

@MichaelMrozek, Yes, we have had atleast 2 questions where someone posted a link as an answer to the duplicate question. They then got upvotes from the community....

I could write a script that scans the list of questions with close votes, pull all the ones with a couple votes for the same question, lookup that duplicate, steal the accepted answer text, and automatically submit it as an answer on the new question. I'd probably get hundreds of upvotes
