@SimonAndréForsberg I would say any monotheist system ;)

Hey @Marc-Andre!

Hey @Phrancis!

@Marc-Andre I don't count those under 'mythologies' though.
I gotta go to bed now
nighty night

night

12:12 AM
Night Simon

@SimonAndréForsberg I don't want to start an argument over anything. I have a profound respect for religion
night Simon

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Phrancis pushed commit a8392e4f to js: added Greek mythos

@Marc-Andre I do plan to add middle-eastern pantheons, including the Biblical stuff, I feel there is a lot of interesting material there too :)

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #976 for commit a8392e4f on branch js passed

I think Yahweh, El, Baal, Asherah and such would make interesting cards
And many more like Beelzebub, Ahriman, Lilith, Mithra and so on
Monotheism I think is an interesting idea, albeit a fairly new idea, in the big scope of things
Looks like Norse is more keen with places, so I think there will be really interesting AOE effects there!

12:45 AM
Monotheism new idea I don't think so ;)
Or are you talking in-game ?

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Phrancis pushed commit 2dbded27 to js: added Norse

@Marc-Andre Really it's pretty new, probably about 2500 years ago or so

Zoroastrianism is one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions. It was founded by the Prophet Zoroaster in ancient Iran approximately 3500 years ago.

Well there you go :)
Polytheism had been around way before that

Can't find a date :S

12:51 AM
Just an example...
Mesopotamian religion refers to the religious beliefs and practices followed by the Sumerian and East Semitic Akkadian, Assyrian, Babylonian and later migrant Arameans and Chaldeans, living in Mesopotamia (a region encompassing modern Iraq, Kuwait, southeast Turkey and northeast Syria) that dominated the region for a period of 4200 years from the fourth millennium BCE throughout Mesopotamia to approximately the 10th century CE in Assyria. Mesopotamian polytheism was the only religion in ancient Mesopotamia for thousands of years before entering a period of gradual decline beginning between the...

There really isn't much documentation going back before 4000 BCE, AFAIK
But definitely looks like Zoroastrianism predates Judaism by a good bit
I think the Jewish religion is in part an evolution from the Babylonian religion

I don't really know ! I've study history and religion but I do not have that knowledge

Monking!

hi @Phrancis

How's it going?

Laundry done, and I've been reading up on various interview questions.

3:06 PM
Come across any interesting ones?

3:40 PM
many

4:12 PM
hey again
Way too many meetings today

> "A committee is a group that keeps minutes and loses hours"
I generally very much dislike meetings/committees

I don't think they're bad at all
It's just that I literally got nothing done today
If I'd done my homework in the weekend then I wouldn't need to do it today!

4:30 PM

5:03 PM
I noticed that the Greek and Roman pantheons are really similar; do you guys think we should use only one of the two?

Because the Roman copied the greek one

Ah yeah, that makes sense

Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V

I might get rid of Roman then. They're basically all the same as Greek except with different names

Well they do have some differences but the majors ones are all the sames ! But they included some others myths from others nations from the time so. But yeah I would jsut pick one

5:17 PM
Maybe mix Greek/Roman by popularity

Egyptian should be fun :D

lol

LOL

As far awkward situations today, today I was trying to be polite and let someone leave her seat in the bus so she coudl actually exit, but it was a bit slow, so I decided to walk on, and almost impact
In the end I still let her go first

@Phrancis I think we might want to use both.

5:30 PM
OK. Perhaps if we get two different people working on them they will end up different enough to be distinctive

TTQW!!

@Phrancis just because the Gods are similar doesn't mean that the cards has to be, right?
And even if the cards are similar, I don't see anything bad about that.

@Duga Huh, there was a commit recently?

5:56 PM
@SimonAndréForsberg Good points

> After giving this some though, I think a value of 100 for Mana might work good. It will have more precision than say, 10, and also carry the familiar "Percent" used. Any objections?

6:15 PM
@Duga has nothing to remind anyone of today!

6:25 PM
@Duga being early today!

@skiwi yeah, it got lost. @Duga was sleeping on the job again
@Duga @Phrancis No objections here.

7:24 PM
Behold, HATHOR :D
I wonder if I could get my wife to come up with card ideas for Egyptian pantheon. She loves Egyptian art!

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Phrancis pushed commit 01d44ced to js: Create egyptian.groovy

I am so tempted to use MONKING instead of MONKEY KING ;)
card('MONKING') {
    creature "Chinese"
flavor "The infamous irrepressible Monkey King and Great Sage Equal Of Heaven"
    health 1
    sickness 1
    manaCost 1
    attack 1
}
Yes, perfect. This needs to stay ;)

@Phrancis haha, nice :)
I was just sooooooooooooooo close at asking a question on Stack Overflow.

Yikes, that doesn't happen too often!

I managed to solve it though
not a very clean solution but it will work for now

8:49 PM
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Zomis pushed commit 83963d7e to groovy: added support for noAttack(), in its own file.
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Zomis pushed commit 38b496d0 to groovy: added onCard trigger that can be used to add things to cards, scrap action is now added from inside scrap.groovy
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #981 for commit 38b496d0 on branch groovy passed

How is onCard going to be used?

9:05 PM
OK

Does that explain it or do you need a better explanation?

I was more curious as if this is something that will be used as a trigger within cards files, so I can add it to the modding guide
I think Wikimedia is going to come in really handy to find public domain/free license images for Mythos!

@Phrancis not within cards files, but it might be used in some mod configuration files.

Ah ok
Mod configuration will be the next thing I will document after I'm done with the card guide, so be prepared for me to have lots of questions :)
(not that me having lots of questions is a new thing or anything lol)

@Phrancis Mod configuration will be dramatically refactored though, so I don't think it's necessary to document it just yet. Maybe in a few weeks.

9:18 PM
OK

10:00 PM
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Phrancis pushed commit 73a87479 to js: Create chinese.groovy

@Phrancis you need to finish the Chinese file when you get home
I love Chinese art, it has so much personality and color

Q: Avoiding sharing Java meta classes across different Groovy scripts

Simon André ForsbergMy situation I call multiple Groovy scripts from Java, they both contain long-lived Groovy objects. I would like my Groovy scripts to make some changes to a Java meta-class for a Java class (that have about 100 instances). However, the scripts should be able to make different changes, and chang...

10:48 PM
I do have an alternative solution to that problem ^^ but I would like to hear what SO users have to say

Nicely put together question, for sure

it's really important to solve it somehow in Cardshifter, with regards to having multiple mods with different features.
I don't often ask SO questions, but when I do, I make sure to ask good ones.

I see, yes that does sound important

11:07 PM
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Zomis pushed commit 4f2da49a to groovy: EntityCreatedEvent is now executed by core, which is intercepted by groovy to change the metaClass for the newly created entity

@Phrancis problem solved in a different way ^^

Sweet!
ExpandoMetaClass is an interesting name
Why am I not seeing the new files I made today when I bring up Eclipse...
